Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Will Not Harm Me_1

"Our daughter might be poor, but she’s not just someone who can be picked by a rich family on a whim. Since Shang Jingchen doesn’t like you and has other women, you certainly shouldn’t feel compelled to marry into his family." Ye Wanli spoke with righteous indignation.

"That’s exactly what I think. I’d rather endure hardship myself than to enter a family where I’m unwelcomed."

Can I ever live a good life if I truly marry Shang Jingchen?

Madam Shang despises me, Shang Jingchen hates me. It would be pure suffering. She sneers at the thought of becoming a punching back in his house. She isn’t a masochist.

Ye Wanli added, "But you need to explain this to Shang Jingchen as soon as you can. It’s too late tonight, let’s do it tomorrow evening. After school, go to his villa and explain everything to him, so he won’t wrongly accuse you."

Ye Lu nodded and went upstairs to rest, not noticing the malicious look in Ye Wanli’s eyes.

The next afternoon, after finishing her classes, Ye Lu came back to the Ye Family house and changed into clean clothes.

Ye Wanli handed her a gift box containing wine and fruit.

"It’s rude to go empty-handed. I’ve prepared this gift box with a good bottle of wine. You should take it."

"Wouldn’t it be inappropriate to bring wine?" Ye Lu paused- is this the kind of situation where drinking wine is appropriate?

"Have a drink with him to forget old grudges. Then, you can each go your own way. It’ll be a good breakup."

Ye Lu had to take it.

When she opened the door to leave, she ran into her two beloved kids returning from school.

"Mommy, where are you going? Yiyi wants to go, too."

The little girl came over and playfully clung to her, like an octopus.

"I’m exhausted. Every day these people want to hear me sing. My throat’s about to give out–it’s annoying. But, I told them I charge a thousand dollars per song, or they can get lost. Hehe, I’ve made ten thousand!"

Ye Lu was annoyed. How is this little girl better at making money than she is?

She’s earning in a few days what takes several months for Ye Lu. The student has truly surpassed the master, and this little girl is quite ruthless at that.

"You’re shrewd. We’ll have candied pears tomorrow, okay? Now be a good girl, Mommy’s busy tonight– she has to meet a bastard."

A bastard? The exceptionally handsome Ye Yuan in his little suit uniform sized up the things she was carrying, raising an eyebrow in annoyance.

"You need all this stuff to meet a bastard? You plan on making turtle soup?"

Ye Lu was taken aback; this little guy sure doesn’t let anything slide.

Although, imagining the golden turtle simmered into soup, haha, was hilarious.

"This is from your grandfather."

Ye Yuan’s face changed instantly. He carefully checked it over, found nothing suspicious, but still seriously warned Ye Lu.

"Mommy, don’t go do anything grandfather asks you to."

Ye Lu stooped down and looked at him with his earnest expression. She sighed and smiled,

"My little guy, I know what you’re trying to say. But in this world, we can’t just openly trust anyone except those who are our closest kin, we can trust them unconditionally because we share the same blood. Just like how you and your sister will always trust that mommy won’t ever harm you, I also believe my father won’t harm me."

Without any alternative, Ye Yuan gazed at her stubborn face and said, "Mommy, I hope you’re right."

"Darling, I’ll definitely prove that I’m right. Just wait and see."

Ye Lu jovially patted him on the head before leaving."

The little girl spread her hands, "Mommy really is a fool. If grandpa is willing to swindle me, how can he possibly treat mommy well? We’re lucky we’ve prepared for this. Once we’ve saved enough money, we’ll leave this place and live happily ever after with mommy."
