My Scheming Little Devil-Chapter 2011: Escape
But obviously, everything was futile. Instead, greater chaos and gunfire erupted on campus. Listening to that intersecting sharp gunfire, it seemed as if two evenly matched forces were engaged in battle, and the situation was extremely intense.
Yiyi’s face turned pale. She had thought that even if different factions fought within the Aus Empire, it would be in a peaceful evolution manner. She never expected such a prosperous, peaceful, and highly developed country would resort to violence and bloodshed for power struggles. It seems that regardless of the era, war is always the means to resolve everything.
Perhaps the future situation of the Aus Empire is far more terrifying and dangerous than she imagined, one cannot fathom what the future might become.
She remained frozen for who knows how long, the intense gunfire dwindled to just a few sparse shots occasionally, seemingly signifying the battle was over, and at least one side had won.
Yiyi’s legs were numb from squatting, utterly unaware of the situation outside, not knowing what exactly happened today, and uncertain if they would be discovered by the controlling side, or what fate would befall them if found.
She was a cautious person, understanding that stepping out without knowing the outside situation was a risk.
"Yiyi, what should we do? Are we going to stay here forever? I’m so scared, oh my god, they killed people, killed so many people." Lina was already terrified and pale from today’s horrifying and bloody events, her voice trembling with fear, unable to control her hysteria and despair, "I want to go home, I want mom and dad, I’m so scared."
Tears of fear rolled down uncontrollably, and she couldn’t stop trembling all over.
Yiyi’s face turned pale, quickly covering her mouth.
She understood her fear; any high school student living a happy and peaceful life would be terrified witnessing such a brutal massacre, left with tremendous psychological scars.
But right now, they absolutely couldn’t let Lina’s cries bring trouble upon them.
"Calm down, don’t draw people here, or we might be killed too." She warned her sternly in a low voice.
Her composure and unusually calm demeanor startled Lina, who indeed dared not scream again. She looked at her in a scared and helpless manner, relying on her as a reliable support.
Despite being half-dead with fear herself, facing the same ordeal, Yiyi remained so calm and collected, not panicked nor fearful, making Lina feel that as long as she followed Yiyi, there was surely a way to survive.
"However, we indeed can’t stay here indefinitely. They must have finished fighting and will start searching the surroundings for any stragglers. Staying longer is unsafe." Yiyi was very clear-headed.
She truly was calm, after all, she wasn’t an ordinary high school student; she had experienced battlefields filled with smoke and even killed people. More dangerous situations she had faced, so this sudden violent and bloody event merely impacted her briefly.
But it wasn’t enough to make her panic like a middle school student.
Daring to go to the battlefield to save people herself, she naturally had the courage to handle such sudden incidents.
However, if she were alone, she would definitely have a way to leave with ease, but dragging Lina, who was like a burden, made it difficult for her to escape.
Yiyi glanced at Lina, and for a moment, she thought about leaving this girl behind.
Lina was just a classmate, better connected than others, but still only within a classmate relationship, without any deep bonds. Bringing Lina, if she wasn’t clever enough, would undoubtedly be a drag on her.
