My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 125: New Family Member ?
Without further ado, Steve explained the competition to Dennis and his team, as it remained the same from year to year. The matches were six-versus-six, consisting of direct one-on-one bouts between team members. If a team secured four victories, that team would be declared the winner. In the rare event of a draw across all matches—which was uncommon but had happened before—there would be a six-versus-six battle royale held in a single arena. The tournament would use a knockout system with one team receiving a bye, since there were five branches total based on the draw. After Steve finished explaining, the room fell silent.
Dennis turned to look at Daisy beside him, then at Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly; they all looked ready and seemed to have no questions. He then turned back to Steve.
"Alright, sir. We understand," Dennis said, speaking for the group.
"Good. The matches will be held next month, and the city tournament is three months away. If you can make it to the city level, our school will win for the first time at that tier," Steve replied.
"Wait, really? We’ve never won before, sir?" Dennis asked, surprised.
"Of course we have, but the recent classes haven’t managed it. Ivan’s team made it to the finals, but they lost, and we took second place," Steve answered.
"Oh, I see. Who took first?" Daisy asked.
"A private school from the south, Iron Castle Private School. They’re the strongest school in the city," Steve answered.
"So that’s how it is," Gary muttered.
They fell silent again, and the room grew still, but before long, Steve stood up.
"Alright, the five minutes are up. You can go now, otherwise you won’t have time to eat," Steve said.
"Thanks, sir," the six of them replied.
They walked out of the room together with Steve, leaving the faculty lounge and heading down the hallway toward the cafeteria. Along the way, they chatted in their respective pairs. Then Jason leaned forward, glancing back at Dennis, Daisy, Gary, and Olivia.
"We don’t need to do team practices anymore, do we?" Jason asked.
"If it’s one-on-one, I don’t think we have to," Dennis answered.
"True. We all have our own unique skill sets. It’s better to sharpen our individual abilities on our own rather than practicing against each other, especially since we don’t know who our opponents are, unlike when we fought Ivan’s team," Gary added.
"Yeah, exactly. I’ll just practice at home," Olivia said.
"Same... we’ll practice at the new house, right babe?" Kimberly said to Jason.
"That’s the plan," Jason replied briefly.
"We’ll handle the move next week and then get to training, right honey?" Daisy asked, turning to look at Dennis.
"Spot on. The move is the priority for now," Dennis answered.
"Oh, that’s right. You’re moving, aren’t you dude? Do you want some help?" Jason asked.
"No need. The two of us can handle packing up the apartment just fine," Dennis answered. "The eight of us, not just the two of us," Dennis thought to himself.
"Yeah, exactly. Don’t worry, we don’t really have that much stuff anyway," Daisy added with a smile. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Alright then. We’ll have to celebrate your new place later," Kimberly replied.
"For sure. Once we’re settled, we’ll invite you all over for a party... just something small, just for us," Dennis clarified.
"Got it, I’ll bring some food, right honey?" Olivia asked.
"Of course. If you want catering, I can make that happen," Gary added.
"Whoa, no need. It’ll probably just be you guys and Ivan’s team... maybe Rachel’s team too. We’re not inviting many people," Dennis replied, waving his hand and shaking his head.
"Yeah, exactly. No need to go to any trouble, but if it’s just a casserole or something, that’s fine," Daisy added.
"Done. Consider it handled. I’ll bring it," Olivia replied.
"Alright, that’s enough. We haven’t even moved yet and we’re already talking about a party," Dennis muttered.
"Haha... true. Anyway, don’t worry about it. I’ll bring one of my family’s signature dishes later; you guys will definitely love it," Kimberly replied.
"I really want to meet your twin sisters, Daisy," Olivia said.
"Oh... soon, haha," Daisy replied with a laugh, glancing at Dennis beside her.
They continued walking toward the cafeteria, chatting and returning the greetings of the students who passed them. After ordering their food, they sat down at the far end of the table and ate together. Dennis and Daisy listened to the voices in their heads informing them that Diana, Dulcia, Donna, and Daphne had returned home. They also mentioned they had finished tidying up the apartment and were currently relaxing with lunch before taking a nap.
Dennis and Daisy replied to the chat in their heads while enjoying their food and chatting with their friends. After finishing their meal, everyone returned to class and the lesson resumed. Dennis looked drowsy in class, but just as his head started to droop and his eyes began to close, Daisy, sitting right next to him, gave him a sharp nudge with her elbow. Dennis instantly snapped awake and tuned back into Julia’s explanation. While they were focused on the lesson, voices suddenly popped up in their heads again.
"Wait, we have a guest. Who is it?" Diana asked.
"Who’s going to open the door?" Dahlia added.
"One of you check it; I’m right in the middle of a nice nap," Donna added.
"Fine, I’ll check," Dulcia replied.
"The rest of us should wait here; whoever it is might freak out if they see all of us," Diana said.
"Yeah, true," Deborah added.
"Don’t forget your disguise, Dulcia... anyway, I’m going to sleep," Daphne added.
"Yeah... I know," Dulcia replied.
Then the atmosphere inside Dennis and Daisy’s heads went quiet again, even as they wondered who would be coming by at this hour. But before long, chaos erupted.
"Hey... hey... hey... there’s no one here... but... there’s a baby at the door! I went out to look for whoever left it, but there’s no one. Help me out here!" Dulcia shouted inside their heads.
"What... a baby?!" Dennis and Daisy shouted simultaneously, standing up without realizing it.
The classroom went dead silent. Every eye in the room, including those of Gary, Olivia, Jason, and Kimberly, turned toward Dennis and Daisy, whose faces were masked in shock. Julia turned to look at the two of them standing there.
"What is it, Dennis? Daisy? What baby are you talking about?" Julia asked.
"Oh," Dennis and Daisy said, immediately turning to face Julia. She stood at the front of the room with a flat expression, seemingly waiting for an answer, having halted the lesson entirely.
"So... sorry, ma’am. It’s nothing," Dennis apologized.
"Yes, ma’am... sorry. There is no baby," Daisy added.
"Hmm," Julia lowered her gaze slightly, staring intensely at Dennis and Daisy as if she were scrutinizing their faces. After a few moments, Julia smiled again.
"Alright then, sit down. Let’s continue the lesson," Julia said.
"Yes, ma’am," Dennis and Daisy replied as they quickly sat back down.
Once they were seated, the two of them listened to the voices of the other six in their heads, which sounded absolutely frantic.
"Hey... talk one at a time. Dulcia, try to explain—what’s going on?" Dennis asked.
Dulcia immediately explained that when she peeked through the peephole, she didn’t see anyone. But as she turned around to head back inside, she heard the sound of crying coming from behind the door. She peeked once more and still saw no one, so she opened the door and nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw a baby in a bassinet crying right on the doorstep.
Confused about who could have left a baby at their door, Dulcia had stepped out and sprinted through the hallway at incredible speed to check the area; no other apartment doors were open, the elevator was closed, and the emergency stairs were shut tight.
Finally, Dulcia headed back inside, panic starting to set in as the baby continued to cry. she picked up the bassinet, brought it inside, and called the others. A chorus of voices suddenly filled their heads; it sounded like Diana, Dahlia, Donna, Deborah, and Daphne were taking turns holding the baby and trying to soothe it.
"Hey... what if we just raise her ourselves?" Donna said, sounding cheerful.
"Hmm... not a bad idea. I’ll teach her all sorts of things," Deborah added, equally excited.
"Exactly. She’s a daughter for the seven of us," Diana agreed.
"Hmm... coochie-coochie-coo," Dahlia chimed in, apparently playing with the baby while holding her.
"What should we name her... hmm... how about Destiny? Because she feels like she was destined for us," Daphne suggested.
"Agreed!" Donna, Deborah, Diana, and Dahlia replied in unison.
"Heeeey... stoooop!" Daisy shouted in their heads.
"Don’t do anything and don’t get any crazy ideas. Wait until Daisy and I get home," Dennis added, sounding like he had a massive headache.
"I’m not part of this, by the way. I’m anti-baby," Dulcia said casually.
"Fine," Daphne, Donna, Deborah, Diana, and Dahlia replied.
Dennis and Daisy’s heads were suddenly throbbing; the lesson being explained at the front of the room wasn’t sinking in at all.
