My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 86: Behind The Scenes
After that, Dennis, Jason, Kimberly, Rika, and Elisa walked toward the infirmary because Daisy had told Dennis via telepathy that she was headed there with the others to check on Olivia. When the five of them reached the hallway leading to the infirmary, they were shocked to see Ivan, Sasha, Brad, Hyunjin, Minji, and Akira sitting in the hallway chairs right next to the clinic. Rika and Elisa immediately approached Akira and Brad, while Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly stood frozen, staring at their seniors.
"Aren’t they supposed to be on an assignment?" Dennis asked, confused.
"Yeah... is it finished already? How was it that fast? Really?" Jason asked, full of questions.
"Let’s just go ask, maybe the mission wasn’t far from here," Kimberly answered.
They approached their seniors. Ivan and Sasha turned to look at the three of them and smiled, raising their hands.
"Ivan, didn’t you say you guys had a job from the hunter guild?" Dennis asked immediately.
"Oh... actually, we didn’t go anywhere. We’ve been in the control room since the start of round three, hehe," Sasha answered.
"That’s right. Earlier, when round two ended, Rachel said she had a request," Ivan replied.
Then Ivan explained that after round two finished, Rachel had invited Ivan and his team to meet with Kamala and Steve. Only then did they explain their intentions; Kamala wanted to establish a good relationship with Dennis’s school. The reason was that she had heard about the Red Wind case, which resulted in them being banned by Emerald Military Academy, meaning there would be no more sparring matches as long as their core team wasn’t replaced.
Besides that, she also heard about a case where one of Red Wind’s main investors was currently being investigated, and the timing coincided with when their new core team caused trouble with students from Emerald Military Academy; so the Willow principal ordered Kamala to establish a friendship with Emerald Military Academy and not do something stupid like Red Wind did.
When Steve told her that there was a bit of a dispute with the new core team from Emerald Military Academy (EMA), Kamala gasped because it seemed like she had just found out; she suggested continuing the match until the third round, proposing that the troubled new core team from EMA face off against Willow, who had caused the problem, without being bound by their school’s regulations and merely treating it as a friendly match or joint practice.
"So that’s how it is, but did the hunter guild official agree?" Jason asked.
"The third round actually wasn’t supposed to happen. This sparring match or tournament technically has three rounds, but our school had already won since we took the first two, so the third round isn’t recorded with the hunter guild and is strictly a friendly match. That’s why it was only three-on-three instead of six-on-six, because the people who had the problem were meant to settle it themselves, get it?" Ivan asked.
"Sorry Kimberly, I told Mr. Steve everything after I found out what happened and asked him to pass it on to Ms. Kamala," Sasha added.
"Hmm... makes sense, but yeah... thanks anyway. Now I feel relieved and I know I didn’t lose to Harumi, besides the problem is settled and we’ve all become friends," Kimberly said, relaxed and calm.
"Well... the result is Olivia is still unconscious and two people from Willow still haven’t woken up either, haha," said Hyunjin, suddenly joining in.
"But it was cool. It turns out Olivia is as strong as Sasha... her final attack was amazing, even though she collapsed after that," added Minji, who also joined in and stood next to Hyunjin.
"Yep... I was honestly shocked seeing Oliv, and then I was also shocked seeing Daisy and Kimberly; you guys were truly amazing," Sasha added.
"Totally, I’m impressed with you, Kim. You could have beaten that ninja if the finish bell hadn’t rung and time hadn’t run out; you stayed calm and used your head against her even though, statistically, she was ranked higher than you," Hyunjin added with a smile. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Thank you, I almost lost back there too," Kimberly replied with a smile.
"Not really, you’re much more mature than back when we had our sparring match; we’re proud of you. Anyway, don’t you guys want to go inside? Gary and Daisy have been in there for a while now," Ivan said while gesturing toward the door with his thumb.
"Yeah, we’re planning to go in and see how Olivia is doing," Dennis replied.
"Okay, we’ll wait here, and when you come out, don’t head home yet. We’re going to grab some food first to celebrate the victory," Ivan said, punching Dennis on the shoulder with a smile.
"Oh... so there’s a dinner plan?" Jason asked.
"It’s a tradition—absolutely required and mandatory," Sasha answered with a grin.
Then Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly entered the infirmary. When they opened the door and walked in, the three of them saw many Willow female students inside; apparently, some of the Willow supporters who had been watching earlier were now in the infirmary, and of course, it made the atmosphere cramped and crowded.
The three of them realized why Ivan and the others chose to wait outside instead of coming in.
"No wonder they’re waiting out front; if it’s like this, I’d rather just wait out front too. I’m not in the mood for it being this crowded," Dennis muttered to himself when he saw the commotion inside.
They could see Rachel and her team inside a fairly wide cubicle; Brigitte and Natasha were visible, sleeping side by side on two beds in a single room, surrounded by so many Willow girls outside the cubicle that it looked packed and cramped.
"Ugh... it’s really crowded, isn’t it," Dennis murmured, feeling uncomfortable and out of place.
"And noisy... people aren’t supposed to be noisy in an infirmary," Jason replied.
"Good grief, these girls," Kimberly muttered.
Of course, the supporters noticed the three of them, but this time it was different; there was no hostility among the fans. When they saw Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly, they smiled and bowed to greet them. Even so, Kimberly felt uneasy; she immediately grabbed Jason and Dennis by the hands and ran into the cubicle where Olivia was lying with Gary and Daisy inside. Her reason was that many of the supporters were eyeing Jason and Dennis with looks that weren’t just about admiration, but outright desire.
"Sreeg,"
The three of them pulled the curtain aside and stepped in. Gary, who was standing by the side of the bed holding his wife’s hand, and Daisy, who sat on the other side of Olivia’s bed, turned to look at Dennis, Jason, and Kimberly as they entered.
"How’s Olivia doing, man?" Jason asked Gary.
"She’s okay and isn’t injured. She’s just exhausted to the point of losing consciousness; the doctor said she pushed herself too hard earlier," Gary answered while stroking the forehead of the still-unconscious Olivia.
"Hmm... that’s true, that last move really was an all-out attack," Dennis murmured.
"Yep, even though it ended in a draw, I’m proud of her," murmured Gary, still stroking his wife’s forehead and smiling as he watched her sleep.
Dennis turned to look at Daisy, who was sitting and staring at Olivia, leaning forward slightly while holding Olivia’s other hand. Dennis shifted a bit and stood next to Daisy while looking at Olivia from a closer distance; he placed his hand on Daisy’s shoulder, and she immediately held his hand. Kimberly then sat down next to Daisy, causing Dennis to step back a little. The noise from outside the cubicle could still be heard, so the five of them remained silent, not knowing what to say, until Jason finally spoke up.
"Oh yeah, Ivan and the others invited us to go out for a meal, but we have to wait for Olivia to wake up first; they’re waiting for us outside," Jason said.
"Yeah, they already told me and Daisy," Gary replied.
"They said it’s a tradition and a must—no refusing, no avoiding, and you have to show up," Daisy added.
"Do you really not want to go?" Dennis asked Daisy.
"Actually... I’m feeling a little lazy and not really in the mood, but it’s fine regardless. It saves money," Daisy answered while turning to look at Dennis.
"You’re something else," Dennis replied, smiling and gently massaging his wife’s shoulders.
"Yep, you’re right, Daisy. It’s nice not having to cook or buy dinner—saves money—especially since my bike isn’t out of the shop yet," Kimberly added.
"The bike will be done tomorrow, though I haven’t actually gotten the reimbursement money yet," Jason replied.
"Nice, that means you can get back to work. Is the prize money from the other day already gone, man?" Gary asked, confused.
"That’s savings for the future, bro—plus the costs for whenever I have kids down the road, and their school fund," Jason answered.
"Whoa... you’re thinking way ahead, but you’re right, bro. I’m doing the same thing," Dennis replied.
They went back to chatting in a relaxed way, lighthearted and smiling, ignoring the commotion in front of the cubicle which was getting even louder than before because the number of girls out there seemed to be growing.
