My Skill Bar is Full of Monster Skills-Chapter 204 - 148: Dragon’s Might and the Counterattacker
Compared with Elise’s focus,
Both Benest and Sulfur Vine’s eyes wandered back and forth over the dozen or so gray dwarves frozen into ice sculptures by Raine in one strike.
"This power has already surpassed a third-level spell and reached the degree of a fourth-level spell."
Benest sighed inwardly.
"Who exactly is this Mr. Raine, a chosen one of which Divine Being?"
Being a follower of Selune, the Silver Moon Goddess, coupled with extensive experience, Benest had some understanding of many Divine Beings’ beliefs on the Valzeg Continent.
It’s just that Raine before him was a bit enigmatic.
Firstly, Raine did not have any distinct symbols representing his faith in any Divine Being.
For instance, Sulfur Vine, with the unicorn horn entwined with vines on her chest leather armor, was easily identified as a follower of Mielikki, the Goddess of the Forest and Rangers.
In fact, even without a holy emblem, Benest could deduce from her brown leather boots, trousers, the color of her apparel which transitions with the seasons, and the short spider silk cape draped over her shoulders.
But this method proved ineffective with Raine.
Initially, judging from Raine’s proficiency in Frost Spells, Benest assumed Raine might be a follower of the Winter Goddess.
But soon, judging from Raine’s weapons and attire, this assumption was dismissed.
Followers of the Winter Goddess Auril typically don a trio: a silver wide belt, an ice axe with a snow edelweiss insignia, and a white ritual robe trimmed with blue.
None of Raine’s attire matched.
This led Benest to a second possibility: was Raine perhaps a rare follower of the Lord of Frost Giants?
But this possibility... from the look of his weapons, it wasn’t the case either.
Followers of the Lord of Frost Giants inevitably wield frost-bladed battle axes.
"Could it be, he’s a follower of the Magic Goddess Mystra?"
"But he doesn’t quite seem like that either!"
"Could it be that he’s truly exceptionally gifted, able to reach such a level without the blessing of any Divine Power?"
At this moment, Raine’s words interrupted Benest’s thoughts.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is as far as you escort me."
"You can return now. From here on, the three of us will proceed."
Raine pointed to Laisa and Sulfur Vine as he spoke.
"Mr. Raine, please be careful." Elise gripped the scepter with both hands, holding it before her chest, and watched Raine with a bit of worry.
"Mr. Raine, other demons shouldn’t trouble you, but be especially cautious when passing the Ancient Molten Earth Dragon." Benest reminded.
"Thank you."
"Dragon?"
"What dragon?"
Dwarf Bruno and Mage Loren exchanged glances, eyes wide with a mixture of shock and disbelief.
Just what is Mr. Raine planning to do?
Slay a dragon?
....
However, due to certain secrets involved, neither Elise nor Benest would explain anything to the two.
And so, Raine and the two soon followed the map guidance, continuing along the crevassed passage.
Not long after.
The three began to feel the temperature inside the passage seemingly rising, as if they were advancing toward a volcano.
Laisa’s once smooth forehead began to bead with sweat, whereas Sulfur Vine, being a Tiefling, fond of heat, felt nothing.
"Is the location of the Molten Earth Dragon just ahead?"
At the front of the group, Laisa halted at an intersection.
To the left, apart from the faint glow from scattered bioluminescent moss clinging to both sides of the rock walls, it was extraordinarily dark.
But the right passage flickered with an unstable light, emitting some kind of swaying firelight, with waves of heat pouring from it.
This was the path they needed to take. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
By the hand-drawn map from Gray Dwarf Thorne, traversing this passage was supposed to be safe for anyone below Level 5 Classes.
But the problem was, the Ancient Molten Earth Dragon was alive.
Although slumbering, being alive meant it could wake at any moment.
Thus, even if safe passage was plausible, two factors had to be maintained.
Firstly, one must pass quietly and discreetly.
Secondly, as swiftly as possible.
"Let’s go!"
"If things seem off, gather to me immediately."
Raine led the way into the flickering passage, this time with an additional Magic Scroll in hand.
The very same Fourth Level Spell Scroll, "Any Door," which was also support from Elise and Benest.
Upon entering the right-side crevasse passage, Raine found it led to a vast lava cavern.
Accurately, they were progressing along the left wall of a bend in the lava cavern, while to their right lay the core of the cavern, glowing with light and heat.
With just a few steps, the trio felt an overwhelming oppressive and stuffy atmosphere clinging all around them.
This sensation was indescribable, as if...
The three were tiny insects, moving through resin not yet solidified into amber.
Keen on passing quickly, their pace was thwarted by a barrier of unseen viscous liquid, hampering their speed.
Raine looked up toward the core area to the right, seeing dozens of meters away, the dark gray fissured lava, growing hotter the further right it went, gradually turning to a crimson flow.
What he sought wasn’t the lava.
It was the mighty beast he’d never seen, or heard tell of even before acquiring the map— the "Ancient Molten Earth Dragon."
This oppressive atmosphere originated from the core area.
Regrettably.
Not even a slightest glance could Raine catch of it.
