My SSS-Rank Skill and System is too OP in Modern Cultivation world-Chapter 64: A Marketplace in the Making
---
Kent ambled through the dense ruins, and his thoughts fixated on one thing: selling this weapon and spiritual tools.
He had been wandering for what felt like hours after his cave venture, his bag now brimming with spiritual tools and rare ores.
The heavy mist around him seemed to grow thicker, distorting the sounds and sights in the distance. I can’t find any students. Where did they go?
There are supposed to be thousands of students. If I can’t find any people, then heavenly luck, please let me see some good treasure.
After some time wandering around, Kent only finds more broken weapons and tools. He says I don’t have enough space for this thing. Kent starts complaining to himself.
"Man, these ruins are huge," Kent grumbled, kicking a loose rock. "I keep finding broken stuff, but where’s the real jackpot? I need something shiny that screams, ’I’m worth millions!’ Or at least something good enough to sell to those desperate students."
Rustle!
🌬️
Rustle!
Kent froze, his sharp ears catching faint sounds of a struggle. He crouched low, creeping toward the source of the noise.
The distant clash of metal on metal echoed through the ruins, mixed with shouts and bursts of spiritual energy.
"Looks like someone’s having a bad day," Kent muttered, a mischievous grin creeping onto his face. "Let’s see what’s going on. Maybe I can... ’help’ them and earn some SP."
As Kent approached the scene, he spotted Ethan, Mia, and a group of teachers from other schools locked in combat with several different people.
Kent quickly realised that they were fighting Dark Alliance members. Otherwise, why would they fight each other instead of fighting the monster?
These rogue cultivators were clad in dark robes, their faces obscured by masks marked only with crude symbols of their organization.
"Ethan and Mia? Figures they’d get mixed up in this," Kent murmured, hiding behind a boulder to watch.
The Tier-3 Watcher, a burly man named Marcus, led the charge. His massive glaive whirled through the air, carving through the Dark Alliance members like a hot knife through butter.
"Stay focused!" Marcus barked, his voice booming. "These Level-E and D cultivators are dangerous in groups. Don’t let them surround you!"
Mia darted between the enemies with the grace of a shadow, her dagger slicing tendons and spiritual energy shields with precision. Ethan, meanwhile, was hurling explosive spiritual attacks, each one detonating with a loud BOOM!
"I see you, Ethan!" Kent whispered, stifling a laugh. "Always trying to show off, huh?"
The Dark Alliance members were relentless, their attacks coordinated and fierce. One of them, a Level-D cultivator wielding twin blades, lunged at Ethan with deadly speed.
"Watch out, Ethan!" Mia shouted, intercepting the attack with her dagger. Sparks flew as their weapons clashed, the force of the blow pushing Mia back a step.
Ethan retaliated with a counterattack aimed at the attacker’s chest, sending him sprawling into a nearby pillar.
CRACK!
The pillar shattered, and the Dark Alliance member slumped to the ground, unconscious.
Kent couldn’t resist the urge to mess around. As the fight raged on, he casually plucked a spiritual fruit (regular fruit with spiritual energy) from a nearby tree. The fruit glowed faintly, its aura radiating pure energy.
[Note: These fruits are just regular fruits. A single fruit can make people’s hunger disappear. No cultivation value.]
Ethan sees Kent. He yelled, Kent, a little help would be great. Why are you standing there?
"Don’t mind me, just here to... observe," Kent said to Ethan, biting into the fruit. The juicy, sweet flavour made his eyes light up.

"What’s he frustrated about now?" Kent muttered with a chuckle.

As he leaned against the boulder, munching on the fruit, Kent noticed a cluster of spiritual fruits hanging from nearby trees. There were oranges, berries, and even some odd-looking blue bananas.
"Jackpot!" Kent whispered, his grin widening. "These’ll sell like hotcakes to those students. They’ll eat up anything with a faint glow on it!"
He activated Flashing Step, zipping between the trees and picking as many fruits as his pouch could hold.
Back at the battlefield, Marcus delivered a devastating blow to the remaining Dark Alliance members, his glaive releasing a shockwave that knocked them off their feet.
"This is your last warning!" Marcus roared. "Surrender or face annihilation!"
The remaining rogues hesitated, their spiritual energy flickering weakly. One by one, they dropped their weapons and raised their hands in surrender.
Ethan wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing around. "Is that all of them?"
"Looks like it," Mia replied, her voice steady despite the intensity of the battle.
As the Watchers and teachers began securing the prisoners, Ethan’s gaze wandered to Kent. Where is he? He spotted Kent casually leaning against a tree, juggling glowing fruits with one hand.
"KENT?!" Ethan shouted, his voice echoing across the clearing. What’s wrong with you? You always act weird!
Kent froze mid-juggle, a guilty smile plastered on his face. "Oh, hey there, Ethan! Fancy seeing you here."

Ethan stormed over his spiritual energy flaring. "What are you doing here?! We were fighting for our lives, and you’re... you’re picking fruit?!"
"Hey, hey, calm down," Kent said, holding up his hands defensively. "I was just... uh... ensuring we had enough provisions for the journey. You know, being proactive."

Mia walked up, her dagger still in hand. She raised an eyebrow at Kent’s stuffed pouch. "Provisions? Looks more like you’re stocking up for a fruit stand."
"Exactly!" Kent said, snapping his fingers. "A fruit stand! Think about it—spiritual fruits, freshly picked, reasonably priced. I’m practically a hero for providing this service."

Ethan pinched the bridge of his nose. "Kent... I don’t even know what to say anymore."
"Then don’t say anything," Kent replied, tossing him a glowing orange. "Here, have a fruit. On the house."
As the group prepared to move on, Kent lagged behind, sorting through his loot. His system storage was nearly bursting with spiritual fruits and repaired tools.
"This is perfect," Kent murmured to himself, his eyes gleaming. "Once we’re out of this area, I’ll set up shop. Those students will be lining up to buy my stuff. I’ll be rich in no time!"
His mind raced with ideas. He envisioned a bustling marketplace, with students clamouring for his wares. He’d sell fruits, tools, and maybe even some of the seeds he’d found earlier.
"But first," Kent said, adjusting his bag, "I need to find more treasures. The more I have, the more I can sell. And the more I sell, the more people I annoy, the more SP I can collect!"
As the group moved deeper into the ruins, Kent’s thoughts were consumed by his grand plans. Little did he know, the ruins still had plenty of surprises in store.
"Time to make some money," Kent said with a smirk, his eyes scanning the foggy landscape for his next big find. "And maybe cause a little chaos along the way."
