Chapter 462: Chapter 462: Who’s to Blame for All This

The man standing in front of her was like a towering mountain. After wiping him down, Melody Thorne’s forehead was already covered in a fine layer of sweat.

"Is that all the strength you have?" Jared Quinn chuckled while holding her arm, the heat in his body not subsiding, but instead growing even more intense...

"Jared, if you dare move again, I swear I’ll leave right away," Melody panted and glared at the man above her. Just how had she been wiping him? The more she wiped, the more red kiss marks appeared on her body?

Annoyed, Melody threw the towel into the bathtub, pulled him along to walk outside, and tossed a set of clean clothes onto Jared.

She also changed herself.

When she turned around, Jared was staring blankly at the clothes he was holding, his dark eyes looking as if he had been abandoned.

Feeling sorry, Melody took over, carefully and considerately helping him put them on.

Jared enjoyed her service, preferring a lifetime of injuries if it meant he could always see her tense and meticulously attentive.

"Knock knock," came a sound from outside.

"Go lie on the bed," Melody instructed the man who had just gotten dressed and went to the door to open it.

Simon Sutton entered the room, holding a tall stack of documents, all gathered over the past two days. If they were just ordinary files, a few days’ delay would be fine, but they were all about overseas business affairs. A single mistake could mean tens of millions, and Jared himself had to handle them.

"Ma’am," Simon entered the ward, glancing at his badly injured boss with an indescribable expression.

This must be what they mean by a hero overwhelmed by a beauty. His boss had been injured for Melody more than once or twice.

"Boss, all these are urgent overseas files, and they’re constantly urging for them, so... so..." Simon looked at his boss’s hands, currently wrapped in layers of bandages, leaving only a few fingers exposed.

"So... can you handle them?"

"Are you blind? Bringing these files over when his hands are like this, how can he manage?"

Simon "..."

And whose fault is that?

"Leave them there," Jared stood up, his large hands already unwrapping the thick bandages on his hands.

"Stop," Melody angrily looked at the man on the bed. She finally understood why he had so many scars and wounds. Each time he was injured, he never took proper care to heal!

"His hands underwent surgery, he can’t handle them now!" Melody quickly pressed down on Jared’s large hands, reapplying the bandages he had removed, sternly warning, "Jared, you must listen to me now, do you hear?"

Jared’s eyes flitted between the documents and his hands, finding it hard to decide.

Simon watched anxiously; every one of these documents was worth millions, and it was uncertain how much might be lost this time around.

"Boss, this..."

"You can leave, we’ll handle it," Melody issued an order to Simon.

Simon "..."

He seemed to see a man who was henpecked.

After closing the ward door, Melody carried the pile of documents to the desk on the hospital bed. She kicked off her shoes and climbed onto the bed, casually opening the files to look through them page by page...

Jared’s gaze never left her. All these files were confidential, and aside from him, no one had ever seen them—not even Simon, who had been by his side for many years.
