279 Bonding Through The Ages (3)

(Jane’s PoV)

“Don’t you think this place is a little bit creepy?” Yuni, who was sitting next to me, whispered lightly. “I’ve been having this strange thought that something is watching us.”

I wasn’t surprised that this girl was kind of sensitive. After all, she was a girl who found supranatural things interesting.

“You’re just overthinking.” I smiled at her.

Yuni squinted her eyes and looked straight at me. “I noticed you’ve looked behind us for three times already. Don’t tell me you didn’t feel it.”

“Well, I was just enjoying the view.”

“What view?”

“The sun disappearing behind those trees. Come on. Don’t frighten yourself like that. I truly didn’t see or sense anything.” Wow, I lied easily. What had happened to me? I didn’t even blink when I said that.

Yuni still had that ‘I don’t trust you’ look in her eyes, but she stopped questioning me. Ignoring the stares coming from the woods, I tried to focus on the agenda being told by the Dean. The corner of my eyes caught the sight of Sanji standing not too far away from his tent. He was sipping on his coffee while staring at the woods. Whatever it was hiding among the trees must have caught his attention.

.....

Sanji must have noticed my stare as he retracted his gaze and met mine. A thin smile blossomed on his face as he raised his cup to greet me. He then nodded towards the woods, indicating that there was indeed something there.

I shook my head. If it wasn’t something dangerous, I would just leave it be. I couldn’t possibly force the guardian of the land to leave the land they were protecting, right? Sanji shrugged his shoulders and returned to his seat in front of his tent.

“Do any of you have any questions regarding our schedule for these three days? I believe all of you have one of this copy, so feel free to ask. Also, please keep in mind that Zone F, G, and H are off limits. Do not wander there! I repeat! Zone F, G, and H are off limits, don’t go there!” The Field Coordinator warned us in serious tone.

I took a look at the map in my hands and found that Zone F, G, and H were Shooting Area, Fishing Area , and Unknown building -there was no name in it. I honestly underestimated the range of this site. I seriously thought that it was just a place for camping and a large playground for adults. I had never thought that this place covered for several miles ahead with various facilities -though the most popular ones were the camping site and the Outbound area. 𝘧r𝗲𝑒𝔀𝘦𝙗𝓃oν𝑒l.𝐜𝗼m

The person who owned this place must be crazy rich to invest in this part of business. But, with this large place, the owner didn’t allow any vehicle to come. How did the costumers go to the shooting area, then? The fishing area was also at the back of the map, near the River Bank and the unknown building. It would be exhausting to walk from the front building to the back of the place.

Upon closer inspection, I found a place marked as ‘electric cars parking lot’ in several places. Of course, they prepared the best for the customers.

I shook my head, feeling embarrassed with how narrow my mind was.

“Also, don’t venture too far into the woods. It’s safe but we will never know.” The Field Coordinator said again and it was responded with a loud ‘boo’ from the students.

“Sir, I have a question.” A student raised his hand after the loud boos started to disappear.

“Yes, please.”

“About tomorrow evening’s agenda, will we really have a night activity? I heard it’s about Dare Night. Is it individual or in a group?”

“In a group, of course. The group will be the one you chose this afternoon.”

“But, Sir, we’re all girls. Can’t we have some boys in our group? We can’t stand being frightened too much.” A girl complained in a whine. Apparently, what she said was what the others’ concern as well, so in no time she gained support from both the girls and the boys.

“...We will divide the boys equally into your groups.” The Field Coordinator replied after thinking for a while.

“Excuses.” Yuni murmured in disdain. As the closest person sitting next to her, I could hear her clearly and smiled because I knew what she meant by that.

“Do we need boys in our group? I don’t like those boys.” Daisy frowned as her eyes scanned the group of young men sitting not too far away from us.

“I don’t think we can reject the arrangement.” Alivia responded softly.

“Hey, Daisy, do you want me to accompany you tomorrow night? You can hold on to me if you’re afraid.” A shout from the boys area travelled to our ears as a young man stood up and grinned towards Daisy.

He must have been eyeing Daisy all this time.

“No, thanks. I’m more afraid of you than the ghosts.” Daisy responded with a smile.

“Don’t come out crying then.” The young man, Senior... -I believed his name was Randy, but I wasn’t sure- Randy laughed and sat back down.

There was another chaos followed the announcement, but it went smooth after all. We only needed to re-register our group to the committee and let them work the rest. Daisy even made a bold request that we didn’t need boys in our group.

“Honestly, I’m a coward. I like watching horror movies, but I can’t watch it alone. Are you guys sure we don’t need a man in our group?” Alivia asked carefully.

The three of us turned to look at the youngest in our group. “You’re right. We need boys in our group. Just in case the ghost asks for sacrifice, we can sacrifice the boys. What do you think?” Yuni smiled even when she was just saying something scary.

Alivia widened her eyes in shock after listening to Yuni’s remark. It was kind of funny seeing her being so flustered. It took only several seconds and I almost laughed out loud hearing her response.

“You’re right. We will sacrifice the boys.” She was tainted by Yuni’s scary thought! “I mean, there’s no way it will happen, but the thought that the boys are there to be our sacrifice is kind of encouraging me.” She laughed.

Yuni laughed when she heard the innocent response from Alivia, but she didn’t say anything and just nodded her head, agreeing with what Alivia was saying.

“It’s creepy to think about sacrifice and to make them into sacrifice items will make us as the evil guys. We don’t want that to happen, of course. But, if they slow us down, leave them.” Daisy smiled and rubbed Alivia’s head lightly before she turned and continued her steps with Yuni in tow.

“Don’t worry. Nothing scary will happen tomorrow. Everything will be okay.” I put my arm around her shoulder and pulled her to walk with us again.

“Somehow I feel safe when you say that. Thank you.” Alivia grinned.

What a cutie!
