Chapter 7: The Unexpected Roommate (7)

“Yes. Don’t laugh!” I glared at him, ignoring the weird light in his eyes. What could he do to me, anyway?

Tom covered his mouth, trying to muffle his laughter. “Okay...” He said, but I could hear the mocking tone behind his sentence.

I huffed and walked pass through him and he followed me closely behind, ignoring the chilling it gave me when I passed through him. We didn’t talk for a couple of minutes. To tell the truth, I was still upset with him. I didn’t know that he could be this mischievous.

Well, I knew now.

“Heeh, this is how it looks like out here. It’s been a long time.” Tom said. He was looking around him, reminiscing about something.

“Where have you been in two years exactly? Don’t tell me you just stay in that room.”

To my surprise, he nodded. “I miss this place.”

.....

“Did you go to this campus?” I asked and he nodded again.

I was speechless when I heard that he attended the same campus as I was. I didn’t know ghost could remember their past. Wasn’t in the movie they told that after a person died, she or he would forget about her or his life during their life? Tom was truly a weird ghost who remembered where he studied.

“Ah, I remember now!” He shouted suddenly. His face showed his happiness.

“Remember what? You look so happy about it.” Asking him casually, I seriously didn’t think he would remember anything beneficial. 𝙛𝐫e𝚎wℯ𝗯𝒏𝗼ѵ𝙚l.𝒄o𝚖

Tom grinned. “Of course. I couldn’t remember anything about my life for the past two years. The only thing I remember is where I live and my name.” Oh, so my previous speculation about he remembered his life was wrong? My bad.

“What about now?” 𝙛𝐫e𝚎wℯ𝗯𝒏𝗼ѵ𝙚l.𝒄o𝚖

“Now, I remember a little bit.”

I laughed. “My, My. You’re a ghost. What are you trying to remember your life for? You’re dead.” I stated to him.

“Who said I’m dead?” Tom said hastily. He glared at me.

“Look. You’re a ghost. So, it means you’re dead. D-e-a-d. Got it?” I glared back at him and stated that as a matter of fact.

“No. I’m not dead yet. I’m – not – dead.” He said hastily, stressing every word he said while still glaring at me.

“Whatever. You’re dead or not, you’re still a ghost. G-h-o-s-t. Ghost.” He was so weird. Was it what they called a denial?

I saw him glaring at me, obviously not happy with my conclusion. Suddenly I had a bad feeling about him. He might want to do something to me.

“Okay, okay. I’m sorry.” I said hastily. “Don’t be angry, please. I have no intention to hurt you.” I rubbed his translucent cheek gently as I smiled softly. “Come on.”

Tom followed me again, but this time, he walked besides me. The air seemed heavy. Was he still angry to me?

“Ah yes, which faculty were you in?” I tried to lure him into a conversation.

“Emm... Engineering Faculty, Department of Architect.” He answered proudly.

“Oh, then, have you graduated from it?” I asked even though I knew it was such a ridiculous question.

“I have, if I remember it correctly.” Tom answered, this time was not as proud as he sounded before. “What about you? What faculty?” He glanced at me.

“Engineering, but I take civil engineering.” I answered carefully.

“Huh?! You’re my junior, then.” He said happily. “What about the initiation?”

Shaking my head, I replied. “Not yet. Tomorrow is the welcoming initiation”

“Oh. Then, why do you come to campus?” He eyed me cautiously.

Why did he need to ask about everything?

“Me? I was asked by Senior Rizal to come.”

“Huh?! What’s for? Who is he anyway?” Tom frowned and eyed me suspiciously.

“Senior Rizal is the leader of Student Council. I don’t know why he asked me to come.” I shrugged.

“Rizal? His name is Rizal Ali?” Tom looked at me all of sudden.

I nodded. This time, I was the one who got surprised by him. “How do you know?” I stared at him and he laughed -maybe because of my expression.
