My Vampire Wives Want My Blood!-Chapter 60- Despair (Part 2)
Chapter 60- Despair (Part 2)
Elio... was terrified. No, terrified wouldn’t describe the level of fear he felt at that moment. The sheer terror he was experiencing was unlike anything he ever felt before. Even when he was faced with imminent death after being attacked by that vampire, he didn’t feel the same level of fear he experienced that night.
Every cell in his being screamed at him to run as fast as he could. The thing that was following him at that moment, and what he witnessed for the past few hours, was an experience he will never forget.
As he ran, his breathing was fast and ragged, and his eyes were wide, staring ahead and then over his shoulder constantly as he cut through the thick forest. The only indication he got of whatever was following him was the gush of wind that kept sending chills down his spine.
That was his indication that the monster was approaching. For hours, he had been running for his life, not knowing where to go to get back to the cabin. Everything around him seemed completely blurry.
’I’m so dead... I’m so so so dead...’ Stopping near a tree, he tried to catch his breath from sheer exhaustion. He was extremely tired. Running for hours was devastating for a normal human being, and it was brutal for Elio.
Coughing a mouthful of saliva, he looked up tiredly, his face pale with terror. ’Did I lose it? I can’t tell. The wind is not here...’ He clenched his teeth as he resumed jogging. All he could hear at that moment was his breathing and nothing else.
He kept looking around him, spreading his senses as far as he could manage. It gave him some sort of layer of defense, even though this thing wasn’t the kind of enemy Elio could defeat. He didn’t even know how he was able to escape its grasp.
That alone was going to be a mystery for the rest of his life.
As he was running, Elio suddenly heard a small noise behind him. Quickly, he turned around to look for the source.
’That... That sounded like a twig...’ He frowned. ’Is it here? Where? Left? Right?’
His senses couldn’t capture where it was. He was simply trying to guess and hope for the best. Running was clearly not going to work. He was completely lost in this forest and finding his way out was impossible. His best bet was to survive for as long as possible to increase the chances of Fiona finding him.
The longer he survives, the better his chances of being found are... Not that his chances were that good anyway.
*Gulp*
Trying to quiet his breathing, Elio heard another noise to his left.
But, anywhere he looked, there was really nothing. It was like his own brain was creating these noises to terrify him. Sucking a deep breath, Elio finally turned around to start moving again. However, at that moment, water dripped in front of him.
"..."
He stopped, stared at the wet spot on the ground. His entire body felt like it was frozen in time except for his head. His breath halted, and so did his heart. He slowly started looking up.
There, hovering right above him, was the very same monstrosity he had been trying to escape for several hours now. The liquid dripping wasn’t water... it was saliva.
The creature was white... Whiter than snow. It was large, way bigger than Elio and way longer too. Its body looked like a twig with arms rather than something human or even animalistic, for that matter.
Its eyes were pitch black and elongated, too, with a wide, circular mouth layered with sharp teeth like a chainsaw.
The creature looked like something that emerged from the deepest nightmares of a person. In that dark atmosphere, surrounded by nothing but stretches of forest, Elio made eye contact with the emotionless monster.
There was no word to describe what he felt at that moment. He was just... frozen.
But the moment the creature dangled its head down from the trees as it opened its mouth wide to attack him, Elio’s instinct kicked in as he quickly dashed forward.
*BANG*
The monster’s head slammed into the ground, sending dirt and debris everywhere. The boy was pushed off balance as he rolled on the ground.
"AGH!!!" Landing on his back, he tried to stand up again as he saw the monster descend on its feet before it started chasing him at horrifying speeds. Its feet and arms sank into the dirt as he swung around, a sight that would make someone’s heart leap out of their chest.
"AAAAAH!!" Elio yelled as he quickly dashed away, channeling every ounce of Blood Energy he had to try to escape. His speed was boosted, and he felt faster, but it was far from enough. In seconds, the monster reached and slammed its fist down, sending him flying into the air from the impact.
*BAG*
Landing on his stomach, the monster then slammed its hand on him again. The boy felt every bone in his body shudder, and some were probably damaged slightly from the impact. But, all the breath was knocked out of his lungs, he couldn’t scream, couldn’t breathe, and couldn’t even cough.
"ha....ha...." He tried to take some desperate gasps of air, painfully. But when the monster lifted him up, crushing his body even more, he was completely hopeless. He could do nothing about it.
Staring at the monster and its gaping mouth, he closed his eyes. He can’t breathe, and can’t think. What else could he truly do? His body simply accepted that death was imminent. He was dead.
However, at that moment, seemingly out of nowhere, a flash of light crossed Elio’s vision. Parting his eyes open again, all he saw was a small movement before the monster’s hand was sliced cleanly off. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Elio then started falling to the ground. But before he could fall, he was caught gently.
"Elio! Hah, hah, hah! I found you! Just in time!" He heard a familiar voice as he smelled a beautiful scent. His body felt comfortable almost immediately.
"F-Fiona?"
"I’m here. You’re going to be fine. I will take care of this." She said in a surprisingly perturbed tone. She couldn’t believe that she made it in time. "Give me a second, I will take care of this."
Gently laying him down, Fiona stood up, and her soft look turned into a harsh, deadly one. The monster behind her was in immense pain, even though it couldn’t make noises. Its arm was splashing blood everywhere as it tossed and turned around. That was a brutal hit that dealt devastating damage.
However, the job wasn’t done. Fiona approached the monster as she stretched her hand forward. When she did, the monster surprisingly stopped moving completely. Her aura leaked out, extremely angry and violent.
Reaching the monster, she stared down at it with a disdainful look. Then, with a swift move... She sliced its head clean off. The monster died instantly.
Then, she swung her arm back, cleaning her sword before she sheathed it again. Then, she turned around and rushed to Elio.
"Hold on, Elio. I’m going to heal you." She said.
"..." The boy didn’t move as he felt Fiona’s warm hand on his chest. The moment she felt his body, she frowned.
’He had suffered several fractures on his ribcage and hip.’
Her anger boiled even further seeing that, but she still focused on healing him again. A few seconds later, all the fractures were gone, and Elio was able to move again.
He gasped and then rose from the ground, coughing and spitting.
"T-Thank you... Thank you. Thank you so much." He muttered as he grabbed Fiona’s shoulder, almost as if he was trying to hold on for dear life. "Thank you... I thought I was going to die... I thought it was over."
His words were filled with disbelief. He had truly accepted his fate. The fact that Fiona found him was a miracle in and of itself.
"You’re going to be fine. Here, stand up. Let’s go back." She said as she helped him stand up. "I need to know what exactly happened. This is extremely important."
Then, Fiona turned around to scan the area for any other threats.
"I will tell you everything. I don’t know how I even survived tonight..." Elio said.
"What matters is that you’re alive and fine. We will talk about this later. For no-"
"What a breathtaking sight it is~"
*RNNNNN*
A voice... spoke to them from the empty space.
