My Vampire Wives Want My Blood!-Chapter 79- Forgotten
Chapter 79- Forgotten
[Your strength has increased by 1 point.]
[Your stamina has increased by 1 point.]
[Your health has increased by 1 point.]
For a few hours, Elio simply sat in his bed, cultivating his energy as Fiona taught him. He kept learning more and more about it with each passing second, perfecting it at a very rapid pace. His efficiency was increasing so fast that in a matter of two days, he went from being completely clueless to almost 40% efficiency, which was already a ridiculously high number for someone of Elio’s level.
His body continues to show levels of understanding even he cannot understand. It was like he was tailor-made to be a Vampire Hunter; everything about him seemed to mold perfectly into this new role that he discovered.
His talent, progress, and even his mental state and thought process were all extremely potent, and he didn’t know why.
*Crack*
Cracking his neck, Elio opened his eyes as he exhaled. "Well, that was a good session." He muttered. "I have increased my strength a bit; if I continue at this rate, I should be able to improve rapidly."
Standing up from the bed, Elio looked through the window. It was still 12 pm, very early into the day still.
"Hmmm, well, I should probably just make lunch. Fiona should be back any time now." He muttered as he left the room and walked to the kitchen. There were many ingredients and many options for dishes he would make.
Luckily, Elio was a good cook since he had to cook for himself for the better part of his life. Rolling his sleeves, he started looking around before he gathered ingredients and began cooking.
’We will make some chicken alfredo pasta. Simple and delicious.’
Everything happened rather swiftly, and before long, the pasta and the sauce were on the stove cooking, and the smell started filling the penthouse.
"Hm, hm, hm..." Elio was in a very good mood, rarely so. He hummed a lullaby he heard a long ago and just stirred the food with a faint smile on his face. This was really satisfying, being productive and doing things so peacefully.
It was a good way to reset the mind and forget what happened in the past few days. Everything happened so quickly that Elio felt like he needed some time to just get up to pace with the current events.
The world was changing rapidly, and he was also changing rapidly. He doesn’t even recognize himself anymore, and if the past him came to the future, he would just stare at Elio as if he were some sort of alien.
’I’ve grown in height so much that I usually would barely be able to reach the cupboard. Now I can do that with ease. I didn’t know being tall was this nice.’ He muttered. ’Being short is truly a curse I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemies.’
"Hm, hm, hm..."
At that moment, he heard the door click and open as Fiona walked in.
"Oh, welcome back, Fiona." He said as he dried his hands and walked to greet her. "I made pasta if you don’t mi-" However, at that moment, he stopped and stared at her.
The girl... looked completely different from usual.
Her eyes looked down, but he could see a glimpse through them, and he was completely stunned. Fiona looked... outraged. A deep frown was clear on her face, and her aura was greatly perturbed.
He had never seen her this angry before in his life.
"What happened? Are you ok, Fiona?" He asked with a concerned look on his face.
"... Nothing." She replied as she looked up, trying to pretend like she was fine. However, Elio had already seen it clear on her face that something had happened. It ached his heart to see her this way, so he asked again.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Nothing, did you train?"
"... Yeah..." Elio muttered with a suspicious look on his face.
"Well, good. I’m going to take a shower no-"
"Hold on."
Before she could pass him, Elio instinctively reached out and grabbed her wrist. The girl was surprised as she looked over her shoulder.
"I..." Elio seemingly realized what he did, hesitated for a second, before he swallowed and spoke again. "I know I’m in no place to know about matters that are clearly far above my pay grade. But what I know is that you aren’t satisfied, and I don’t want you to hide it. If there is a way for me to help you feel a little better, I want to do that."
"..." The girl’s eyes widened slightly, not expecting what he just said whatsoever. "It is not that big of a deal..."
"I have never seen you this angry before. It has to be something, even if it is not that big of a deal to others, it is certainly a big deal for you, and that’s what matters."
*Badump*
Fiona’s heart beat loudly at that moment, almost echoing within her own mind. What Elio said struck her in a way she didn’t understand. Her lips quivered before she looked away.
"What would you get out of knowing? It’s just the past. A past that seemingly only I’m still stuck in. Everyone else has long moved on and forgotten, except for me. What’s the point of you knowing? In the end, everybody is able to forget, while I remain there... Every single second of my life."
Her words were incredibly bitter and hard to utter. She felt truly horrible, like the entire world was just rejecting her very existence because she refused to forget. Everyone forgot that day, everyone pretended like it didn’t happen. Even her own father, the person she thought wouldn’t forget the most, had forgotten.
That was the very last redeemable thing she saw in him, and even that is gone now. All that is left is hatred and utter disgust.
Hearing those words, Elio seemed a bit speechless. Then, he exhaled and looked down as he rubbed the back of his head.
"What’s wrong about not forgetting?" He asked. "Aren’t we given minds so that we remember what we cherish? The things we feel are important to us?"
"..."
"Why does it matter if others forget? As long as you remember, that memory will never die." He said as he released her arm. That was what Elio believed. Memories are meant to be cherished by those who carry them, and if everyone forgets but one single person, that memory isn’t dead.
He watched as Fiona’s eyes flickered visibly, almost as if she was distraught. However, if he had taken a single glance into her mind, he would have been stunned at the sight.
It was chaotic. Her mind felt like it had been thrown into a big mess. Elio had told her something she hadn’t heard before.
’Why does it matter if others forget?’
A question she never asked herself before. Truly, why does it matter? She still remembers it, vividly as ever, with its pain still living within her. That was what mattered the most.
So what if her father forgot? She had taken an oath on herself to bring justice.
"Fiona..."
"Hm?" She hummed with a weak voice.
"You’re... crying..."
