Chapter 310: Chapter 290: An Endless Day

That night, Xue Dili and the young general both felt the distortion of the entire world.

The group of people who originally got along well before sunset, at the moment the sun set, seemed to simultaneously transform into Evil Ghosts, using every means to kill everyone around them.

The whole world seemed to have descended into Hell. Regardless of age or gender, even newborn infants frantically broke free to try to bite others with their teeth that hadn’t yet emerged.

The entire city completely turned into the most terrifying Hell, with murders happening openly, countless vehicles accelerating at hundreds of miles smashing through the air, lighting houses on fire, each one resembling climbing-out Evil Ghosts using all methods to kill.

At first, the young general wanted to stop it, but found it completely useless. If he stopped the grandma, soon she would madly rush outside, followed by a burly man carrying her corpse breaking in, trying to kill the young general.

Outside, there were only flying cars.

And in the latter half of the night, bombs started exploding in the city, mushroom clouds like small suns rising into the sky.

Subsequently, for the rest of the night, the sky seemed perpetually bright as bombs exploded overhead, and the bustling city turned into ruins in an instant. The young general continually used Space Jump to leave the city, seeing countless bombs from afar aiming at the city center, turning the orderly daytime city into a night sea of flames.

The events of this night left both of them dumbfounded.

Xue Dili killed the last male student and then saw a butcher, the last person remaining alive in a village, holding a blood-stained steel knife.

He came to the mountaintop and looked at the city, also witnessing the missiles exploding in the sky above the city.

In just the time it took for the sun to disappear over the horizon, the entire world turned from extremely normal to extremely abnormal, leaving the two not knowing what to do.

If when they first arrived in this world they found it to be such a place of mutual slaughter, it would only appear normal, not surprising, because this is the home of the Heart Stealer; it should always have this sort of scene.

But strangely, the whole day was completely normal, and then at night, those original people seemed all turned into Evil Ghosts, with a sort of telepathic connection, knowing each other’s position. Nonagenarians turned into nimble Hannibals, madly killing, finding the closest target, and then doing everything to kill the opponent.

Once only one survivor remains among the two, they begin to look for the next "Murder Demon."

The latter half of the night was unending light and nonstop explosions.

They had no idea how they made it through the latter half of the night, and when the sun rose, the original world seemed to finally calm down.

They didn’t know if they’d returned to normal or if almost all the people were dead, but everything finally went quiet. They looked at the city’s ruins under the sun, and Xue Dili was silent.

He felt like his mind was a mess even now.

Xue Dili felt like he skipped through all the plot into fast-forward like a new soldier walking into a battlefield.

Not even when he was with Old Green on that spaceship encountering twisted monstrous forms was he so confused.

His head was filled with, "Who am I, where am I, what just happened"...

He even felt that Beifeng City no longer had any living people, under such chaos he couldn’t believe any lived here, and every night fell into chaos, so why after a thousand years was the home of the Divine King still exactly the same?

If they went through chaos every night, surely the entire world would have turned into a chaotic Hell; either everyone would have died out, or a Poison King would appear, ultimately leaving only that Poison King alone in the world.

Yet now, looking at the city reduced to ruins and rubble, Xue Dili couldn’t speak.

However, just as he turned to meet the young general, for a moment, it was as if time had been deleted, the twisted feeling causing Xue Dili to pause.

As if something... wasn’t right?

Xue Dili did not doubt his intuition at all. In an instant, he realized the problem, and when he turned to look, he was instantly stunned.

The ruined city instantly returned to its original state, with scenes of busy traffic and sparse crowds visible in the distance.

Soon, the crowd grew, and the whole city seemed filled with vitality.

Xue Dili immediately returned to the original campsite, but how could there be a campsite here? There was only a large expanse of bare grass, tents and corpses vanished, snacks and leftovers also completely disappeared, with no sign of human activity.

Looking again at the distant city, Xue Dili suddenly had a terrifying thought.

This world seems to continually read itself, an unknown cause triggering a night of acute mania among all the world’s people, leading to an apocalypse, a disaster so rapid no calamity could compare.

Once the entire world’s population was nearly extinct by the next day, the world restarted, as if time flowed backward, the entire world restored to its previous day, repeating the cycle.

If such an assumption were correct, the Divine King’s insane logic would not be wrong. His house being identical as it was a thousand years ago was not a problem because such a restart had apparently persisted for over a thousand years.

The whole world is trapped in a death loop of the day before the apocalypse!

This was the hypothesis Xue Dili came to based on the Divine King’s information and his day in this world.

Thinking of this, he immediately went to an academy in Beifeng City, where he saw the familiar faces of those who camped yesterday, seemingly a small group, chatting and laughing as they walked out of the school gate, talking about preparing for the night’s camping.

At this moment, Xue Dili seemed to understand the world’s operating logic.

He immediately took out "Innovation Era" in his hand, and the Treasure appeared in his hand. He could directly use Genesis without a ceremony, connecting to the local World Consciousness.

However, the next moment, Xue Dili’s pupils constricted because he couldn’t connect to the World Consciousness.

It wasn’t like the effect with Old Green on Hell Star, where failing to connect to the World Consciousness could be seen as dialing a disconnected number, exiting the contact state immediately.

But at this moment, it wasn’t a disconnected number. Instead, Xue Dili kept trying to contact the World Consciousness, yet the World Consciousness gave no response, as if a clay ox entering the sea, with no one answering.

Looking at this city full of modern atmosphere, Xue Dili flipped to the page that imprisoned the Divine King’s soul again and asked, "Look, haven’t you noticed anything? Everything here blew up last night. Your entire home was destroyed, but now look, your home is intact. Do you still think this is normal?"

"Isn’t this completely normal? Sir, I beg you to spare me. Isn’t all this very normal? This really is normal, you have to believe me, I..."

Xue Dili immediately interrupted the Divine King’s words, already knowing what nonsense the guy was going to spout next.

The Divine King’s underlying code had been altered. He had obviously been twisted into something even more pseudo than a Pseudo-man, and Xue Dili didn’t know if he could still be considered a normal being.

But now, not just the Divine King, it seemed like everyone in this world had been twisted, endlessly repeating the day before doomsday.

All those involved in the frenzied slaughter, and a world that resets at sunrise, formed the main theme here.

...

Similarly, the young soldier shockingly returned to the old granny’s house that sheltered him, seeing the granny who had originally been killed and the little girl preparing for school. His face showed abnormal horror.

But at this time, a mysterious figure wrapped tightly in clothing said, "Come with me!"

The young soldier was stunned, but he followed this strange person. While in the alley, the mysterious figure said, "Do you remember what happened yesterday?"

The young soldier’s pupils constricted.

"It seems you remember. I’m not referring to the ’yesterday’ but the twisted ’yesterday.’ I’ll take you to a place, that’s our base." the mysterious figure said.

The young soldier immediately contacted Xue Dili while following this highly suspicious mysterious figure.

Then he directly asked, "What on earth happened last night?"

The person wrapped in clothing stopped and only said, "I don’t know either."

The young soldier was stunned. He didn’t know either. How long had he lived in this time loop? The young soldier immediately voiced his question.

"68 days." The mysterious figure in black gave a number.

If he wasn’t lying, then he should have lived in such a loop for 68 days, and the him from 68 days ago might have been reset for so long that he’s lost all sense of memory measurement.

He quickly led the young soldier to lift an entrance to a sewer and then climbed in.

The young soldier braced himself against the smell and climbed in, and the two twisted and turned to a base deep in the sewer.

"How can one remember what happened yesterday?" he asked while walking.

"Survive, don’t die unexpectedly at night." The man said, diving into an even deeper cave.

The young soldier, skilled and courageous, had never been attacked during the siege of the six Gods and various ambushes, moving as if he were in an unoccupied land. The greatest danger he faced during this task was being pinned by a giant troll.

He was confident he could react to anything within 1 millisecond and phase himself away, so he had no fear.

"In here are our companions. We’re a self-rescue team looking to discover the truth in this eternally looping world and end this cycle and the strange nightly killings. We’ve now gathered 12 people, with the longest one recorded living 687 days." The man in black said.

"How do you record it without the records resetting?" the young soldier asked.

The man pointed to his head, "All the records are in here. As long as you survive, this won’t be altered, but everything else will be tampered with and twisted."

"Let me show you our companions and seniors." The man opened the safe house door, but the next moment he saw 12 people crowded at the entrance, each with eyes filled with confusion and fear.

"Was it you who kidnapped us and locked us in here?" the leader said.

Their four eyes met, and the man in black’s pupils constricted.

Because he knew, all his companions who had originally fought with him against the world’s reset were now "reset."

The leader was the one amongst them who had "lived" for 687 days, a tough guy named Henrik, yet today, he too had "died."

But now Henrik was in a frantic state because today was the day he had to take his daughter to school.

His daughter had a parent-teacher meeting, and he wanted to be a good father, so he took the day off, but somehow, he woke up in this place filled with rust and a nauseating smell in the sewer.

"Luckily, I’m still alive." Henrik thought.
