Chapter 30: Return

The violent detonation caused wind to swell and burst. Lifeless, the gigantic corpse of the Red Swarm Tyrant plunged to the ground. The hole in its chest allowed the rampaging hurricane to pass through harmlessly.

In contrast, a pool of black fluid flew backwards as if it was smacked by a gigantic fist. A large stake-like contraption spun faster alongside it. It was a five-meter-long nail attached to an equally long coffin. Before completely parting with Elian, the stake weapon trembled—then exploded open.

"Crap!" the sludge cursed out loud.

Large fragments of broken components flew outward like shrapnel. All of them immensely heavy with some having the color of onyx.

Quickly forming an arm, Elian raised it and shouted, "Fortress Mini!"

In the same second, Living Metal separated from his amoeba-like body and wrapped around him in a defensive sphere. Then came the wayward fragments. As if ravaged by multiple grenades the small and heavy components struck and cracked the shield.

AH! It won't hold! I don't have enough material!

Just as his worst fears were about to be realized, a calming voice echoed.

"Worry not, my idiot. I shall save you," Bianca smugly declared.

The very air around the metal sphere froze and reinforced the shield. More of the pieces came, however only the onyx pieces managed to pierce the ice. But even those that did, their momentum was mostly dispersed by the time they reached Elian.

"How ridiculous, even as it breaks this contraption has unimaginable power. Whatever glory you gained disappeared as your own faulty creation almost killed you."

"It's not faulty okay, I just didn't expect the housing to break from the recoil. And thanks for your help, Bianca...Keruk!"

Elian then collided back first into a wall. Even without a head molten ore spewed out of the pitiful puddle his body had become.

"Ow... couldn't you have helped with the landing?" the boy complained.

Bianca's visage appeared in front of him looking down, arms crossed. Her eyes practically burned holes into the black puddle in front of her.

"Oh? So I am supposed to do your bidding now? Funny, I specifically ordered you to not do anything stupid, yet you continue to make the most idiotic choices! You could have won without putting yourself at risk! This is just like before—with my corpse! My honor's long gone!"

Bianca's lost her composure and shouted in anger. Elian even saw a vein pulse in her temple. Apart from the immediate vicinity, everywhere else was all turning to ice.

Crap, she is going to skin me alive at this rate.

Seeing the rage coming from Bianca, Elian said nothing and formed a smaller body. Its proportions were skewed with a cartoonishly large head but a toddler's body. Its appearance reminded one of cartoon caricatures meant to invoke affection and cuteness.

I should look as pitiful as I can. Let's see...

Imitating a child being scolded, Elian sat down, spread his tiny legs and hung his head. He then began circling his right index finger on the floor. Bianca upon seeing the sight turned quiet. Her body stiffened as her hands clenched. Her eyes were still angry, but they wavered.

"Cute..."

It was barely above a whisper. But Elian heard it. When he did, he couldn't stop himself for smiling. Trying his best to act like a feeble child, he stood up but wobbled. Bianca's figure almost dashed to catch him, but when he righted himself, she immediately held herself back and turned around.

Haha. I knew it. Time to play on her motherly instincts.

Elian then began twiddling his thumbs as he looked on the ground. If one ignored the black armor, and the fact that this child-like being almost singlehandedly killed everything in this dungeon, he might have been considered cute. Like a token mascot.

"I am so sorry, Bianca. Please forgive me. I didn't mean to...Honest."

But to Bianca, who already shared a deep bond with him. Elian could practically see the imaginary arrows stabbing her in her heartstrings. Bianca's body began to shiver, probably from trying to restrain herself.

Alright time to go in for the kill.

"You are the most important person to me. Be it your dignity or your legacy, It is my job to defend both. Please let it pass just this once. I won't force you to eat anymore Red Ant cores after you eat the big one."

Elian then brought his hands together and kneeled. Although he meant every word, acting like this was slowly draining on his sanity.

I don't know what I am anymore. But if this is what you want... I'll be whatever you need.

"Hmph. Fine. I will let it go just this once. I am not forgiving you because of the cores, nor because of your adorable appearance. I am doing it because of a master's kindness."

Hearing her, Elian quickly stood up and smiled. He raised his hands and quickly approached the floating beauty.

"Yes! Of course! Master is the best! Bianca is the best! WOHOO! BIANCA NUMBER 1!"

Unable to stop herself from smiling, the woman covered her mouth with her hand and said in a fluster.

"Just how long are you going to remain in that form! Regain your full body at once!"

She then vanished.

Cute.

Ending his charade, the armored toddler raised his hand. In the next second, a speeding object flew into his grip. It was the black-colored greatsword he couldn't possibly carry.

"Good. It seems if the same command is given and used, it can be repeated without issue. Moving forward, I will add the command 'Return' to all my melee weapons. Sorry buddy, I will remake you better next time."

The greatsword immediately melted and gushed down like a river. Like roots, the toddler's legs began absorbing the black waters. Slowly, his body began to lengthen. In what seems like seconds, the black knight that annihilated the Red Swarm was reborn.

He then created thin needles and threw them at the large puddles nearest him.

"Return."

Given the command, the liquids flowed together like a river and formed a long cord. One end attached itself to Elian's back, the rest began to call for all the various pieces shattered all over the place.

Meanwhile, Elian approached the queen's corpse. Fashioning blades from his arms, he then carved out the leftover pieces still embedded in her chest.

"I am sorry, Bianca. If I wasn't so emotional I could have gotten you the whole thing."

A figure appeared beside him, with a wry smile and furrowed brows.

"Sigh, I am not angry nor disappointed, Elian. Just how many women can brag that someone butchered an entire dungeon for them. Seeing your growth, I could not ask for more. But I again stress my point. My time already ended. And once my vengeance is fulfilled, you can go free."

"Vengeance? You mean against the ones who wronged you?"

"Yes. I was betrayed by the top three guilds of humanity. On a raid on a dungeon, they called for my aid using a good friend. And he revealed that the reason I wouldn't die was due to a physical soulgem. He was the only one I told. And he sold it for money and a position."

When Elian heard her words, all the Living Metal blobs in the hall began to resonate. A high pitch sound like one would hear from unsheathing a sword came from multiple sources all at once.

The sudden noise took Bianca by surprise. Confused, she scanned her surroundings to see all the black fluids trembling. Spikes and swords were all rapidly bursting out of them then retreating only to once again stab outward.

Even without meaning to the speed and intensity they all moved caused shockwaves to dance in the vast hall. Bianca who saw the terrifying scene quickly moved in front of her weapon and stared into her eyes.

"Elian."

The boy took a moment, as if relishing his anger and hate. Then he sighed in defeat.

"What are their names?"

"Elian..."

"What are they," emotionless and without a bit of warmth. But even she could feel the rage that boiled underneath.

Bianca looked down and confessed in low spirits. "They are the Noble Ascendancy, Bloodright of Conquest, And the Truthsong Church."

"I see."

He then opened a path for Bianca's soulgem and the Tyrant's core. Bianca froze at Elian's gaze. His strength was born of her desire for a weapon—one that was powerful, devoted, and fearless. Only there were times, Elian ignored her wishes for his own.

Adamant removed all love from Elian's mind. Now, only the desire to kill filled it. And not even the mighty Dungeon boss could stop him. Revealing her desire for vengeance now caused him to choose his next targets.

"Eat."

"Elian...Please calm down."

"It is time for us to return to civilization, Master."

Bianca could only follow as her companion commanded. Elian didn't even stop to care about the truth they had just uncovered. That the Red Swarm was an entire civilization. And that the boy she saved mercilessly butchered them to the last.

And now, that very same being aimed to return to the lands of the humans.

Only this time, he was no longer weak, nor was he kind.
