My Wife is a Hidden Big Shot-Chapter 150 - 144: We’re Doomed, Senior Sister Has Fallen for Morgan
Alvin Morgan shot Beta Morgan a glance, and he instantly went quiet.
The investigator from The Martial Affairs Bureau saw Alvin Morgan about to carry her off and immediately walked over. "Young Lord Morgan, she hasn’t given her statement yet."
"I’ll take her tomorrow."
The investigator looked like he wanted to say more but held his tongue, ultimately letting them go.
It wasn’t a long walk from the hospital to their apartment, only about fifteen minutes through the back alleys.
Alvin Morgan had watched the museum’s security footage. That heavy kick from the lunatic, in particular, had been horrifying to watch, making his heart clench.
The surveillance footage was black and white and had many blind spots. What happened between the two of them later wasn’t caught on camera at all.
He had only heard from the people who went down to help that the lunatic was unconscious on the ground, while the girl just sat cross-legged beside him, chanting scriptures like she was possessed. It was a long time before she returned to normal.
Alvin Morgan asked softly, "Aurora, what happened back there?"
Aurora Sinclair seemed to be asleep, giving no response as she lay on his back.
Alvin Morgan turned his head to look, but her eyes were open. She was blinking, watching the road ahead like a small child repenting for a mistake.
A smile touched the corners of Alvin Morgan’s lips as he comforted her. "If you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t have to."
But a moment later, she suddenly said softly, "Morgan... I almost lost control..."
Alvin Morgan froze for a second, then said lightly, "In that situation, I would have lost control too."
"..."
Aurora Sinclair pursed her lips, then suddenly leaned close to his ear and whispered, "The same kind of losing control as him..."
Alvin Morgan’s steps faltered instantly. He felt a rush of heat to his ear, his mind going blank for a moment.
Just then, the pressure on his shoulders suddenly vanished. The arms wrapped around his neck slowly loosened, as if she were about to slide to the ground.
Alvin Morgan immediately hoisted her up higher and started walking again.
"You’re not like him."
Aurora Sinclair was stunned. Her face, which had lifted from his back, rested on his shoulder once more. The dimness in her eyes gradually brightened, revealing a faint hint of joy.
"Are you not wearing your light armor today?"
"Yeah, I had a physical."
"No wonder you’re so light."
"..."
"Where did all those chicken legs you ate go?"
"..."

Leigh Miles was stunned when she saw Aurora Sinclair being carried back by Alvin Morgan. Her expression didn’t change until Aurora said, "Junior Sister, the medicine..."
Then, her face fell.
"Morgan, quickly, put Senior Sister on the bed! I’ll go prepare the medicinal bath."
She then dragged a large wooden tub, half a person tall, from the other small bedroom and pushed it into the bathroom.
Beta Morgan had actually had it custom-made for them. He always thought they just liked taking long baths and would often mention remodeling their bathroom to install a proper pool.
"Senior Sister, hang in there..." Leigh Miles said, wiping her tears as she searched for the medicine packets, acting as if Aurora Sinclair had some terminal illness and was on death’s door.
Seeing Leigh Miles cry, Titus Miles suddenly burst out crying with a loud "WAHH," but Leigh had no time to comfort him.
For a moment, the room was a chaotic mess, the noise enough to give anyone a headache.
Alvin Morgan’s brows furrowed slightly. "What do you need me to do?"
"Morgan, hold the thermometer for me." Leigh Miles shoved the thermometer into his hand and ran to the bathroom.
Alvin Morgan quickly followed.
She neatly arranged the medicine packets in the tub and started running the hot water.
"Morgan, hold the thermometer and watch the water temperature. Don’t let it go over forty-five degrees."
After giving the hurried instructions, Leigh Miles ran out again, apparently to soothe Titus Miles.
Alvin Morgan glanced around the small bathroom and suddenly thought, ’This place is a bit small.’
A while later, Leigh Miles came over, carrying Aurora Sinclair, who had been changed into a long-sleeved swimsuit.
Alvin Morgan immediately took her and gently placed her in the wooden tub.
The large tub took up half of the cramped bathroom. Sitting inside it, Aurora Sinclair looked particularly frail.
Alvin Morgan had never seen her so weak before, as if she were completely drained after an outburst.
"Why is she like this?"
"The path of Martial Cultivation goes against the heavens. The Heart Demon deludes the mind, and exhaustion of strength leads to weakness..."
Leigh Miles’s explanation was a bit too mystical, and Alvin Morgan didn’t buy it. In the end, she could only pretend to be calm and kick him out of the bathroom.
"Senior Sister, Master’s spiel didn’t work! Morgan doesn’t believe it at all..."
"..."
’She didn’t believe it either.’
Leigh Miles squeezed her soft, limp arm, pouting as she asked, "What just happened? Why did you suddenly get like this?"
"I saw someone with the same symptoms as me."
"Where is he? Did you get found out?" Leigh Miles asked, her face pale with fright.
Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "Morgan said he hasn’t woken up yet."
A fierce glint suddenly flashed in Leigh Miles’s eyes. "Besides him, who else knows your secret?"
Aurora Sinclair shook her head. "I kept it under control."
"We can’t let our guard down..."

「Five or six hours later.」
Leigh Miles emerged from the bathroom, her face etched with exhaustion.
Her eyes met the man still on the sofa. She froze for a second, then asked awkwardly, "Morgan, you’re still here?"
"Is she alright?"
"Mhm..."
Alvin Morgan stood up, rolling up his sleeves as he walked. "You go make the bed..."
Inside the bathroom, Aurora Sinclair’s complexion had returned to normal. Her eyes were closed, and she seemed to be asleep, but as Alvin Morgan approached, she suddenly opened them again.
He was met with an icy, emotionless gaze.
"You’re awake?"
Aurora Sinclair seemed to be processing who he was. After a moment, the guarded look in her eyes slowly faded, replaced by her usual liveliness.
"Morgan..."
"The water’s gotten cold. I’ll carry you out..." Alvin Morgan bent down to lift her.
"I’m fine..." As she spoke, she actually pushed herself up, using the tub for support. Though her body was still a bit shaky, she was clearly much stronger than before.
Alvin Morgan paused, stunned, but still kept a supportive arm around her as he helped her out of the wooden tub.
After helping her into the bedroom, he turned and walked out.
Leigh Miles closed the door and suddenly asked, "Senior Sister, do you think Morgan likes you?"
Aurora Sinclair thought for a moment, then nodded.
Leigh was shocked. "Then what do you think? Do you like Morgan too?"
"I do..."
"Really?"
Leigh Miles’s head buzzed as if it had just exploded, and worry instantly filled her eyes.
’It’s over. Senior Sister has fallen for Morgan.’
’What do I do? Will Master try to break them up?’
Just as she was at a loss, Aurora Sinclair suddenly said, "He’s a good person."
"Huh?"
Leigh Miles’s eyes were about to pop out of their sockets. It took her a long moment to reply, "Senior Sister, is the ’like’ you’re talking about the same way you like our senior brothers and Master?"
Aurora Sinclair nodded. Then, as if thinking of something, she tapped Leigh on the head. "You’re letting your imagination run wild."
"Hehehe... But Senior Sister, don’t you like Morgan, even a little, in a romantic way? Morgan is super handsome. Jean said that tons of girls in Kingsford want to marry him." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
But Aurora Sinclair just flicked her on the forehead. "Those who practice ascetic cultivation should not discuss the appearances of others. Go and recite the Heart Calming Scripture."
"Okay..." Leigh Miles rubbed her reddening forehead. ’Senior Sister’s flick really hurt this time!’
After Leigh Miles went out, she suddenly smelled a delicate fragrance wafting from the kitchen.
Ditto Miles’s voice could be heard from inside: "Add a little sesame oil..."
Leigh Miles quickly ran to the kitchen and opened the door, only to see Alvin Morgan, wearing an apron Aurora Sinclair often wore, cooking something in a pot.
"Wow... It smells so good! Morgan, what are you making?"
"Jujube and shredded chicken congee."
Leigh Miles strode into the kitchen, her mouth watering. "Can I try some?"
"It’s still cooking... Ditto Miles, how long does the congee need to cook?"
"One hour and fifty-eight minutes."
"Morgan, I never knew you could cook. You’re just like Jean said, the perfect candidate for the ideal boyfriend."
Alvin Morgan glanced at the unevenly chopped chunks of chicken in the pot, quickly put the lid on, and said calmly, "Just a little."
The flame under the pot was just a small, trembling ring, looking as if it might go out at any moment.
The congee in the pot was bubbling gently, releasing its tempting, delicate aroma.
Alvin Morgan leaned against the counter, his gaze calm as he looked at Leigh Miles. "What’s wrong with your Senior Sister?"
