My Wife, The Ice Queen President-Chapter 437 - 0436 Entanglement Unresolved (Three More)_1
Chapter 437: Chapter 0436 Entanglement Unresolved (Three More)_1
Ye Xiong ran back to his room, lay on the bed, gasping for breath.
Looking back, he had guessed that there indeed was nothing wrong with the light in Tang Ning’s bathroom; she must have deliberately broken it to lure him over.
The door wasn’t locked, and the feigned slip in the bathroom was a trap through and through!
Poor him, he almost fell into it, unable to extricate himself.
Like mother, like daughter.
Honestly, to say he had no thoughts about Tang Ning was impossible.
...
Tang Ning was the kind of girl who could fiercely trigger a man’s hormones—young, pretty, vibrant, voluptuous. Faced with such youthful beauties, if a man said he had no thoughts, he would definitely be lying.
What he could affirm, though, was that he didn’t love her. It was merely physical attraction, not the heartfelt love he felt for Yang Xinyi, Du Yuehua, or Luo Weiwei.
If she weren’t his niece by marriage, Ye Xiong would have pressed her under him without hesitation, letting her learn the consequences of tempting him.
But he couldn’t. After much effort, he had finally made things right with Yang Xinyi; if she found out about anything between him and Tang Ning, their relationship would be irreparably damaged.
The issue with the best friend had already caused a big mess; if it were about his niece, it would probably turn the world upside down.
Ye Xiong finally suppressed the desires in his mind and dozed off for the night, in a daze.
The next morning, he got up early to cook breakfast for Yang Xinyi and even made her medicinal porridge.
Yang Xinyi hadn’t been back to the company for over ten days. Ye Xiong told her to rest at home, but she refused, saying that in her absence, the company had become a mess, and it would be troublesome if she didn’t go back to deal with things.
Ye Xiong had no choice but to drive her to work and Tang Ning to school as well.
On the way, Tang Ning chattered non-stop to Yang Xinyi; it was as if she had forgotten about last night’s incident and acted like nothing had happened.
Because of his guilty conscience, Ye Xiong seldom spoke.
After dropping off Yang Xinyi at the company, on their way to the school, Ye Xiong couldn’t help but awkwardly say, “Tang Ning, about last night… I was a bit impulsive. Don’t take it to heart.”
“Brother-in-law, actually I don’t mind at all,” Tang Ning said.
“Tang Ning, it’s impossible between us. I already have Xinyi.”
“I didn’t say I want to compete with my cousin.”
“She’s your cousin; it’s not right between us.”
“We’re not blood-related, and there’s no kinship between us.”
“Being non-blood related is beside the point. Think about your relationship with Xinyi. If she found out about us, can you imagine how heartbroken she would be? Do you really want your cousin to be hurt and upset?”
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
“I won’t let her find out.”
Ye Xiong was utterly defeated by her. He felt that this niece was just too stubborn and intransigent.
“You have so many classmates at your school, more handsome, younger, and more devoted than me. Your cousin isn’t a good person, and you won’t benefit from clinging to me. Stop being stubborn,” Ye Xiong softly persuaded.
Tang Ning stopped talking, and from the rearview mirror, Ye Xiong saw her pouting, turning her face away from the window, not saying a word, with a teardrop rotating in her eye.
Seeing her like this, he didn’t want to persuade her any further. Let nature take its course!
Yet after doing such a thing last night, he felt he was walking further and further down the road to death.
After sending Tang Ning back to school, Ye Xiong returned to Hunter Bodyguard Company and was immediately dragged by He Mengji to her office for a whole morning’s bother.
Under He Mengji’s management, the company had grown from a handful of people to a big company of over a hundred strong employees, with increasing missions coming in.
Starting this month, they had begun to turn a profit from a state of loss.
To reach such a level in just two months, no doubt, He Mengji was a natural-born strategist.
“How are things between you and Thirteen?” Ye Xiong, thoroughly annoyed, changed the subject to ask.
“What things?”
“Playing dumb—everybody knows Thirteen has a crush on you.”
“There’s nothing between us; I just treat him like an ordinary subordinate,” He Mengji responded.
“Why don’t you like him? Do you already have a man in mind?” Ye Xiong asked with a smile.
“That seems to have little to do with you.”
“As a friend, I’m just concerned. You’re not young anymore. Women age quickly after twenty-five. Don’t you think about settling down with a boyfriend?”
“These are my own affairs; they’re none of your business.”
“What type do you like? I know quite a few guys; I could introduce you.”
“Not interested.”
“Which ‘xing’? The ‘xing’ for happiness, or the ‘xing’ for gender?”
He Mengji packed her documents, stood up abruptly, and walked out with big strides, forcefully shutting the door behind her.
After she left, Ye Xiong breathed a sigh of relief, finally in peace.
That woman was a workaholic. Without some tricks to keep her at bay, she would have tired him to death with her nagging.
Just as he lay down on the sofa to rest, the phone rang.
“I bet it’s Sister Hua calling.”
Ye Xiong pulled out his phone to check, only to be disappointed—it wasn’t Sister Hua, but Yang Xiaoqiao.
Why had this beauty suddenly decided to call him?
Ye Xiong was a bit surprised as he answered the call.
“Are you in Jiangnan?” Yang Xiaoqiao asked from the other end.
“Yes, what’s up?”
“I promised to treat you to a drink when I got my salary. Today, I got it,” Yang Xiaoqiao said.
“How much did you get?”
“Six thousand.”
“Getting six thousand for your first month is not bad.”
“Don’t tease me. I don’t want to go to a noisy bar, just a quiet one, but I’m afraid you won’t like it.”
“A quiet bar is fine. Where and at what time?”
“I haven’t found a place yet. Probably around nine o’clock tonight. I’ll call you then.”
“Okay, see you.”
After hanging up the phone, Ye Xiong was in good spirits, and he couldn’t help whistling.
He had long coveted Yang Xiaoqiao’s beauty, and unlike with Yang Yueru, Tang Ning, or Xiao Fangfang, he had no psychological burden with Yang Xiaoqiao. Those women were all forbidden.
“Today is a good day, everything goes my way, today is a good day…”
Humming a tune, Ye Xiong walked out of his office and ran into Angel at the door.
