Chapter 728 -729: Courage (21)_1
“How terrible, Haohao, I promised not to intrude on you anymore, yet I failed to control myself.”
Speaking in such a humble tone, uttering such helpless words, Jing Haohao felt as if something in her heart had been silently torn apart, leaving an obscure pain behind.
Her hand instinctively clutched the front of Liang Chen’s shirt, her eyes welling up with tears.
Under the dim light of dusk, Liang Chen gazed at Jing Haohao’s tear-brimmed beautiful eyes reflecting a touch of brightness, and gently wiped the tears away with his fingertips.
His actions filled with deep affection caused Jing Haohao to freeze for a moment. She unconsciously held her breath, expecting more affectionate words from him.

However, the next moment, Liang Chen retracted all his emotional outpour, and asked Jing Haohao, “Do you have the strength now?”
The sudden shift in his tone left Jing Haohao stunned for a moment before she nodded at him, “Yes… Why?”
Without answering, Liang Chen simply withdrew his hand from under Jing Haohao’s eyes. Restraining his immense pain, he groped behind him for a while, then pushed open the door of the car, which had been somewhat deformed from rolling off the highway.
Such actions made his back, which was already in severe pain, damp with cold sweat. He had a vague feeling that the sensation of dampness on his back had intensified.
Swallowing hard, Liang Chen turned to look at Jing Haohao and said softly, “Come, climb out over me.”
Jing Haohao complied with Liang Chen’s words and began to climb over him, bit by bit.
Though she wasn’t heavy, the pain inflicted by her crawling over Liang Chen’s wounded body caused him to inadvertently clench his teeth and tighten his arms.
Only when Jing Haohao had completely climbed out of the car did Liang Chen finally let out a silent sigh of relief.
As the night soon began to fall, their vision became increasingly blurred. Jing Haohao reached out her hand to grab Liang Chen’s arm, saying, “Let me pull you.”
But Liang Chen pulled his arm away.
The disappearance of sensation from her fingertips caused Jing Haohao to pause briefly. She then looked up in surprise, her gaze meeting Liang Chen’s eyes.
Liang Chen stretched out his hand and gently patted his injured left leg. Speaking in a seemingly relaxed tone, he said, “Haohao, I’ve injured my left leg and can’t move or walk. We’ve lost our phones somewhere, so you’ll have to climb up there in that direction, that’s where we fell from the highway. It’s not too late now. After you climb up there, flag down a passing car and seek help.”
In fact, he had no idea how much longer he could survive. He knew that his most severe injury was on his back, which was hidden against the back of the seat.
He merely wanted Jing Haohao to feel reassured and climb back up. The wound on her arm hadn’t stopped bleeding. Once she reached and encountered someone up there, she could be saved.
If she knew the severity of the injury on his back, she would definitely stay with him. In such a wilderness, who would pass by, and the ones in danger of life would be the two of them.
Who would have thought that one day he, Liang Chen, could be so selfless and regretless?
Liang Chen blinked gently and whispered, “Haohao, I’ll wait for you here.”
Deep down, he knew that perhaps by the time she returned, he would have already left this world.
