Chapter 169: Gold Dragon

Right in front of him stood a massive structure—an outpost in the wild, unmistakably a Creature Dwelling for Legendary Units.

A 13th-Tier Legendary Unit recruitment building: the Behemoth Lair !

Even though both the inside and outside were called "Behemoth Lair," they were worlds apart in meaning and function. Totally different beasts.

The outer Behemoth Lair was just the residential grounds for Balthazar’s clan of Behemoths. But the one inside? That was more like a dungeon—something players had to conquer. Once taken, it became a fully functional Creature Dwelling for recruiting Legendary Units.

And this wasn’t just any Creature Dwelling—we’re talking about one that lets you recruit Legendary Units!

Up until now, Ethan had only managed to get his hands on two of these.

So why had Balthazar brought him here?

Wait a second... could it be—?!

Gulp.

Ethan couldn’t help but swallow hard, his excitement bubbling up uncontrollably. He turned to Balthazar, eyes wide. "Chieftain Balthazar... what are you trying to say here?"

"I want to give you this Behemoth Lair, Lord of Emerald Castle," Balthazar said calmly. "Think of it as a token of our gratitude."

Boom!

Ethan’s heart skipped a beat, slamming against his chest. He blurted out, "Balthazar, are you serious? This is a Legendary Unit Creature Dwelling! You know how insanely valuable that is, right?"

"Of course I do."

Balthazar chuckled. "But to us, it’s not really useful. You should know this too, right?

Only Lords or Unit Heroes can claim Creature Dwellings. And we’re neither."

Ethan nodded. That was true.

In the world of Glory Lords X, only Unit Heroes or Lords could take control of Creature Dwellings.

And that made Ethan even more fired up.

This would be Emerald Castle’s third Legendary Unit Creature Dwelling. And it was practically falling into his lap!

"Whew..." Ethan took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. He looked at Balthazar. "Chieftain Balthazar, this gift is... honestly, it’s way too generous. But I won’t lie to you—I want it. Badly."

"Hahahaha! Hahahahahaha!"

"You’re a refreshingly honest man, Lord of Emerald Castle!" Balthazar roared with laughter. "And I like that. We Behemoths aren’t exactly known for our brains, hah! But you can rest easy—we never go back on our word. This Behemoth Lair is yours. A gift from me, and from the entire Behemoth clan, to thank you and Emerald Castle for saving our lives. So if you want it, take it. No need to hold back."

"Thank you!"

"In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony."

"I’ll take this Behemoth Lair!"

Ethan nodded eagerly, then asked, "Chieftain Balthazar, what kind of defensive force are we looking at here?"

"Not bad," Balthazar said, his eyes gleaming. "If I remember right... about 300,000 Tier-2 Hobgoblins, 80,000 Tier-4 Wolf Raiders, 100,000 Tier-4 Harpy Hags, 30,000 Tier-6 Centaur Marauders, 5,000 Tier-8 Ogre Mages... 30 Tier-13 Behemoths, and 5 Tier-14 Ancient Behemoths."

"..."

A cold bead of sweat slid silently down Ethan’s forehead.

"So this is what the defense force of a Legendary Unit Creature Dwelling looks like...? "

Thirty Tier-13 Legendary Units—Behemoths. Five Tier-14 Mythic Units—Ancient Behemoths. And a whole damn army of lower-tier troops. Just hearing the numbers was enough to make your scalp tingle.

Even if all those defenders were just Soul Sentinels—basically hollow shells with weakened strength—when you stacked them together like that, the combined force was still terrifying. No joke.

Honestly, if a Legendary-tier hero hadn’t gone through their second awakening yet, and only had, say, a dozen or two Legendary Units under their command? Yeah... good luck trying to take down this Behemoth Lair.

Compared to this, the way he got his first two Legendary Creature Dwellings—Dragon Cliff and the Ancient War Tree—felt like a walk in the park. So easy it was almost unfair. The kind of luck that made other players green with envy.

But that had a lot to do with the state of the Creature Dwellings themselves.

See, wild Creature Dwellings came in different states.

The most common type? Just like this Behemoth Lair in front of him—unclaimed.

Unclaimed wild Creature Dwellings were guarded by Soul Sentinels. So if you wanted to take one over, you had to fight your way through and wipe out the Sentinels inside. Only then would the dwelling become yours to control and recruit from.

But then there were the rare ones—like the Sacred Ancient Tree, the dwelling for the Ancient War Tree unit. Those were in a "ruined" state. And those? Those were the real jackpots. The kind of finds that could catapult someone straight to the top.

Because ruined Creature Dwellings had no Soul Sentinels. No guards. No battles.

In other words, if your luck was good enough, you could just walk in and claim a high-tier dwelling without losing a single soldier.

But the odds of that happening? Practically zero.

Unless you were someone like Ethan—one of the Chosen. A player blessed by fate, with luck so ridiculous it felt like the goddess of fortune herself was holding his hand.

But Chosen Ones were rare. Very rare.

Ethan shook his head, brushing those thoughts aside.

No point getting lost in that rabbit hole.

He turned to Balthazar with a smile. "Chieftain Balthazar, I think I’ll wait a few days before launching the attack on this Behemoth Lair. That last battle just wrapped up, and everyone’s still recovering. They’re injured, exhausted. They need time to rest."

"You’re a thoughtful leader," Balthazar said with a nod and a grin. "Alright then. We’ll see you in a few days."

"Sounds good. See you soon, Chieftain Balthazar." Ethan smiled, gave a small wave, and turned to leave.

He stepped out of the Behemoth Lair.

"Alright, let’s head home!" Ethan called out, raising his hand.

With that, the Emerald Castle army began their triumphant march back, banners high, spirits soaring. A total victory.

But just as they were making their way home...

A massive figure descended outside the gates of Emerald Castle. freeweɓnovel.cøm

A creature so huge it seemed to blot out the sky. Its body radiated a blinding golden light, its presence alone enough to make the air tremble.

A Tier-14 Mythic Unit—Gold Dragon.

Its sudden arrival sent Eldorin and Bromir into a panic, both of them nearly jumping out of their skins.
