Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength-Chapter 534 - 531 Publishing House Salesman
Chapter 534: Chapter 531 Publishing House Salesman
"Ronar, how much more do you need to complete your book?"
"The main structure is pretty much done. But I still need to ponder over the details and word choice; it will probably take quite some time before it can be completed."
In September’s Springs, the air in the city began to show signs of cooling.
Ronar bent down slightly and gripped his pen lightly, his gaze earnestly scanning over the text on his desk. In another corner of the office, Heloise was slowly processing documents related to child resettlement issues.
Those children from the industrial district headquarters had been settled through the connections of the chamber of commerce, thanks to Ronar. He was not a saint seeking to save all misfortune, but he did reach out to help with the issues presented before him.
And it must be said, some things in this world always surpass human expectations.
Originally, in Ronar’s mind,
The battle that night should have ended with Alya taking away the Nutcracker and being responsible for sealing it.
However, after the people of the "Twelve Witches" hurried over and explained the situation, this guardian of the dream fairy tales did not raise any objections; instead, she agreed with Ronar’s arrangement to hand over the Nutcracker to the "Twelve Witches."
From then on, the matter of the "Twelve Witches" reclaiming the original tome in Springs came to a close.
Taking advantage of the time that passed in the meantime,
Ronar also easily learned the Nutcracker’s spells.
— Create puppet guards.
— Strengthen puppet weapons and combat abilities.
— Transfer one’s consciousness into a puppet.
— Sacrifice a certain number of puppets to transform the surrounding area into a puppet domain.
— Summon one’s own created puppets to one’s side, regardless of the distance.
There were a full five spells, all of which could be used without any cost. Although Ronar didn’t have the original tome, he could still use them following the normal spell-casting procedures.
Of course, before Alya left Springs,
Ronar had no intention of using this series of spells.
And even more crucial was that the consciousness transfer spell was of the type that could not be reversed unilaterally. In other words, the choice of Lumiere to transfer his consciousness meant that until death, he could only use the puppet’s body and could never return to a human flesh body.
As for that legendary spell that could completely substitute puppets for humans...
Ronar did not gain the right to use it.
That spell was likely the Complete Technique of the "walnut clamp little man."
Only when the original tome was fully controlled and possessed by him could the Complete Technique be used.
Knock, knock, knock—
The office door was knocked on, and a person from the reception on the first floor called out from outside,
"Mr. Ronar, there’s someone from the publishing house here to see you."
"Please, send them up—"
In this period, people outside had also come to know Ronar’s personality.
He simply pushed open the door of the office and turned his head towards the staircase leading to the second floor.
With Ronar’s keen hearing, he could even catch the guidance of "Mr. Ronar is waiting for you upstairs, the one with the door open."
Soon after, the sound of hard-soled leather shoes on the wooden stairs echoed.
A man holding a briefcase walked up to the second floor with a smile on his face and then entered Ronar’s office.
The man, often running errands outside, was not shy in the slightest.
His eyes swept over Ronar and Heloise, then he walked straight to the office desk and sat down, pouring himself a glass of water while putting down the briefcase.
"Mr. Ronar, I heard you were planning to contact our publishing house to publish a book, is that correct?"
"..."
Ronar did not respond to the man immediately.
His gaze measured the man several times, and then he raised his eyebrows and asked,
"Bapulor, why is it you again?"
The figure that appeared in the office was none other than Bapulor, the head of the cult Magicians. Unlike last time, when he looked down and out selling water purifiers, this time he had transformed himself into a salesman for the Springs Publishing House!
"Hehehe, needs must."
Hearing Ronald’s question, Bapulor allowed a smile to creep onto his face.
With a casual wave of his hand, a light Magic Power pushed the door closed and locked it. During this, the man also made a noticeable gesture of adjusting his collar, clearly showing off his new, crisply tailored suit.
Ronald also deliberately complimented him,
"Nice suit."
"Thanks!" Bapulor was extremely pleased with the compliment, his face beaming with joy. He immediately opened the document bag on the table, "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely get you the best conditions for the book publishing."
Several pages of paper were taken out from the document bag.
Ronald stood up and walked over to inspect them, they were all tentative contracts for publishing books.
This Bapulor guy...
Not to mention his decidedly problematic identity as a cult Magician.
Just considering his publicly known job, his work capacity was indeed quite outstanding.
"I’ll just take a look at them myself first."
Ronald said softly, then picked up the contract and began reading.
It might have been because of the Ginkgo Biloba Chamber of Commerce, or perhaps Bapulor was clear about his own identity. Today, the contracts laid out on the table were virtually free of commercial traps or misleading terms, a quite commendable attitude.
"..."
For the first few minutes, Bapulor just quietly watched Ronald reading the contract.
During this, he even took the time to sip some tea, and then cast a friendly glance at Alya.
Unfortunately, the young girl did not respond to the overtures of the cult Magician.
Alya kept looking intently at the documents in her hand and didn’t even shift her gaze towards Bapulor.
Several more minutes passed, and Bapulor finished his tea.
He looked at Ronald scrutinizing the contracts and had a sudden realization,
"Ah, that’s right!"
"Besides the publishing house matters, I have some other things I need to discuss with you."
"You’re not busy, right, Ronald?"
It looks like we’re finally getting to the real business...
Ronar glanced at Bapulor before setting down the contract and sitting across the table.
"Is it about something on the mystical side?"
"You certainly have a way with foresight!" Perhaps not yet out of his salesman role, Bapulor flattered Ronald before continuing, "Well, the Harvest Day is also drawing near, right?"
"To ensure our plan goes smoothly... Do you have time to come out tonight?"
Ronald raised an eyebrow, sensing the implication in Bapulor’s words:
"Who are we dealing with?"
Bapulor immediately replied,
"Some folks with not-so-right minds."
"Dantrian’s methods are indeed clever, and now the ’Nine Commandments secret meeting’ is in a whole lot of trouble."
"But at the same time, there are some small-time players who got wind of the situation and aren’t too bright. They think they can reap a significant benefit from this affair and even consider thoroughly betraying the people on the mystical side."
Ronald nodded his understanding and then posed a second question:
"Do you have a list of these people?"
Bapulor’s expression finally became completely serious:
"The ones that must be dealt with won’t be missed."
