50: Chapter 47 Elemental Space

50 -47 Elemental Space

Isabella’s words sounded quite unreliable, yet she was a professional, and Wayne had no grounds to argue.

Moreover, since Isabella hadn’t assigned him a life-threatening task—easy and risk-free—Wayne greatly appreciated the arrangement and left the office with the documents in hand.

In the air, invisible pollen drifted, confusing the members of the Earth Core Cult and reducing their intelligence to the lowest level, which allowed Wayne to slip out of the factory with ease.

Through Bishop Sean’s orders, the believers dragged about a dozen prisoners to the chicken farm’s garage, threw them onto a truck, and while handing over the keys to Wayne, they thoughtfully topped up the fuel for him.

The immense power of magic made Wayne feel fortunate yet despondent, seeing these somnambulant believers made it apparent how unfriendly magic was to common people.

Both the Archbishop and Isabella could easily manipulate their thoughts.

Wayne felt lucky to have chosen this path since he was not ordinary, but he also felt a sense of loss for not being as powerful.

If he could, wouldn’t he want to become a high and mighty Mage, commanding all living beings with a mere wave of his hand…

No, that was the wrong line.

Wouldn’t he want to become a hero, silently waving a sleeve to save all beings, concealing his achievements and name.

Time and time again, Wayne felt an unprecedented longing for power.

The Great Eyeball sunburn on his chest slowly radiated light, the flesh pulsating as if it might split open at any second.

The Book of Greed responded to Wayne’s desire.

Do not suppress your own desires!

At the same time, a ray of light emanated from the Golden Statue placed in the center of the underground plaza.

This figure was a typical case of someone driven to madness by not suppressing their desires.

He shifted his gaze from Isabella to focus on Wayne.

On the passenger seat of the truck, the Twisted Figure slowly took form.

At the chicken farm, the driver was missing in action, a truckload of eggs was undeliverable, and the believers were close to losing their minds, wondering if the driver had drowned in the bathroom.

If that’s the case, better you drown in there.

Wayne drove the truck away from the chicken farm without bothering about the truck filled with eggs.

Halfway, he gestured with his hand, and a pigeon with a hat flew through the window into the truck.

He drove towards the highway outside the town, signaled with his hand out of the window, and a black sedan slowly approached.

Butler Philark and four armed maids were sitting in the car.

Wayne handed over the document bag to Philark, instructing him to drive to Lundan.

This was Isabella’s painstaking work, and it absolutely had to be delivered to Hefei in Lundan.

He also called his Glamor Lady teacher.

It was the assistant who answered and said they would contact the High Priest as soon as possible.

Busy, all busy, which is good!

Wayne rolled his eyes and had to return to the villa.

Isabella must have communicated with Hefei by phone.

On the bright side, Enrold Town couldn’t possibly ignore the Earth Core Cult’s commotion; perhaps a legion of Mages had already entered Enrold Town.

As long as they weren’t delayed en route by train, that would do.

“Young Master Wayne, aren’t you leaving?” Philark frowned, preferring that Wayne take the documents and leave.

I’d like to, but the teacher won’t allow it.

Wayne shook his head, “I can’t let Isabella fight alone.

That would be most ungentlemanly.

Although unlikely, I might be able to help her by staying.”

“You are a distinguished gentleman with impeccable nobility.

It is my great honor to serve a master like you,” Philark said with a smile, passing the document bag to a maid, instructing her to drive immediately to Lundan.

Outsourcing tasks layer by layer, the old tradition of the Randao Family.

Philark insisted on staying.

As a professional butler, he wouldn’t abandon his master to escape alone in a crisis. freewёbnoνel.com

He clarified his value to Wayne, explaining why he had to stay.

Philark was intimately familiar with the layout of Enrold Town, from the streets and alleys to the sewer system, mastered various techniques for navigating drainage ditches, and confidently assured that even if an army encircled them with a tight net, he could still lead Wayne through the sewers and leave them dizzy.

“The sewers…”

Wayne was skeptical, “What kind of scale could the sewers of Enrold Town possibly have?

It would be a different case in Lundan.

Look, when we get back to Lundan, I’ll learn this skill from you.

I promise, next time for sure.”

Philark smiled faintly, “The drainage system of Enrold Town was built by the Lando Family.

There were two sets of blueprints used during construction, and I know of several secret tunnels, one of which is right under the villa.”

“…”

My father-in-law is really wealthy, having even set up tunnels for underground warfare.

Could he have foreseen a war coming?

Or does a capitalist of his level simply crave war?

A maid departed with the document bag, and Butler Philark remained behind.

The truck moved away from the bustling town, driving into the villa estate.

Located outside the town limits, the big house had an open lawn in front, equipped with two heavy machine guns, and with its high vantage point, was virtually impregnable.

With ample supplies stocked, it was prepared not just for a 58-day siege but was more than enough for one night.

Although the probability of being surrounded was slim and of being breached even slimmer, Philark still took every precaution.

He instructed the maids to activate the basement mechanisms of the big house, check that the tunnels were clear of obstruction, and ensure that Wayne could evacuate at any time.

The house’s underground tunnels connected to Enrold Town and were also the center point of a banned magic spell, convenient for Wayne to move in all directions.

After mulling it over, with impregnable walls + access in all directions, even if Isabella fell, he could safely wait for the Glamor Lady teacher to arrive.

There’s nothing to fear anymore!

“By the way, Butler, the eggs brought back by the maid…

they haven’t been eaten yet, have they?” Wayne thought of the potential hazard and decided to nip it in the bud immediately.

“Young Master Wayne, those eggs have already been taken care of.”

“Taken care of, why?!”

Wayne was stunned.

The butler’s work was impeccable, as though he had the ability to foresee events.

Was he truly that professional?

“The Lando Family has its own dedicated supply channels that are strictly managed.

For instance, your favorite potatoes are carefully selected and transported from Lundan to here.”

Philark said matter-of-factly, “Ingredients from commoners are not allowed on the dining table, let alone free eggs.

They are not worthy of your esteemed status.”

Wayne: (╯_╰)

Well said, but let’s not say that next time; commoners shouldn’t hear this.

They can’t help but look for lamp posts!

The three maids moved the prisoners from the truck, preventing these unlucky souls from suddenly losing control in the middle of the night due to eggs stuffed inside them.

Following what they did, Wayne instructed the maids to drive stakes into the lawn and tie them up tight.

It’s even worse than prison – at least a prison provides shelter from wind and rain!

Not like now; it’s set up like a barbecue grill.

Hood and Wesley were still out of their minds, and the other prisoners were the same, tilting their heads and babbling incoherently.

Wayne couldn’t help, so he gave each one a chop to the neck, gaining experience points for his sleep magic while also saving himself from their constant prattle.

It was a win-win.

“Young Master Wayne, is this your pendant?

I found it on the passenger seat,” Philark said, handing the shrunken figure over to Wayne.

Wayne, who was busy racking up experience with his chops, took it casually upon hearing Philark’s words.

Boom!

In an instant, his mind roared, and a familiar whisper echoed in his ears.

“Wanderer, I have heard your plea…”

“You despise your own weakness; you thirst for power, crave strength!”

“Take it, this is the power you desire…”

Wayne’s vision blurred, and his thought seemed to be dragged into a different space.

The figure in his hand was as hot as embers, as the Four Elements surged ceaselessly, unbalancing the energy within his body at an almost frantic pace.

This is bad, the Void Lord has come calling!

Wayne’s complexion changed drastically, and he was about to toss the shrunken figure away when The Book of Greed suddenly opened its gaping maw.

Drip!

Like a drop of water falling into a dried-up riverbed, the bed was barely moistened with a trace of wetness, and then there was no more.

Wayne: “…”

What’s going on, is this power too weak?

Wayne was bewildered, and apparently, so was the entity on the other side.

After a moment’s pause, it sent an even more exaggerated amount of the Four Elements.

The dry riverbed saw its wet area expand tenfold.

The size of a fingernail, no more could be accommodated.

“Young Master Wayne?”

“It’s nothing.

Keep an eye on these people.

If anyone wakes up, let me know immediately.

I’m going to lie down in the pavilion for a while,” Wayne swallowed and quickly slipped into the gazebo to rest.

The figure in his hand was hot to touch time and again, freely gifting the Four Elements, which although far from filling his Essence of Life, was quicker than his own painstaking meditation and faster than the frantic plundering of The Book of Greed.

Wayne knew that this was not right; pie doesn’t just fall from the sky and if it does, it’s usually a trap.

The Void Lord was by no means benevolent and was surely plotting something by offering gifts.

But the gifts were far too small!

Who did it think it was looking down on, thinking such small favors would lead someone astray?

Send more, otherwise, it’d be challenging to do your bidding!

Wayne clenched the shrunken figure, using it as a medium to make contact with an Elemental Space and gain the power he’d long dreamed of.

Within the figure, the hidden will of some entity assessed Wayne’s potential.

As he continuously performed miracles, exceeding expectations time and again, it became excited.

This excitement caused the channel to the Elemental Space to shrink a bit right away.

The Book of Greed was dissatisfied, plaintively voicing its grievances to Wayne, who was similarly discontented, and willingly merged with it.

Wayne: Today we split fifty-fifty; five for me, five for you.

The Book of Greed: Agreed!

Invisible tentacles passed through the figure, entering the Elemental Space directly.

The tentacles gathered and forcefully widened the channel to its limit, bypassing the middleman, the figure, and initiating a frenzied plunder of the Four Elements.

The Fire Element led the way, howling as it threw itself into the arms of the Great Eyeball.

At that moment, the figure realized in horror that it had lost control over the doorway to the space.
