Myths Reawakened-Chapter 275 (2): Eight Legs Walk into the Alley, Ten Come Out
Meanwhile, Megan had quickly thrown on a long robe after her evolution was complete and chased after Auston, just as she had done a million times, her body moving on autopilot.
She had gotten used to it.
When Auston was retrieved, Juno had already accepted her new backstory. She said through clenched teeth, “Father, you can’t kill me.”
Auston was beyond frustrated. He did his best to defend himself, swearing that there was nothing between him and the Queen, but Juno kept calling him father. With her truth invalidating his argument, he was thrown into the sky by Silvia again.
“Bastard, she called you ‘father’. How can you be so cold-blooded?!”
Furious, Silvia went on to throw Auston again and again, stating whatever reasons that flashed through her mind. Rational or irrational, a useful excuse was a good excuse. Veronica learned by example and came to an epiphany.
Moreover, she realized that the previous generation wasn’t pure, either. Their relationships were messier than hers, which made her feel better.
A moment later, Auston scowled at Juno and said, “Your Highness, I know you only call me father for your survival...”
“That would be calling an enemy father,” Wayne mumbled.
Silvia and Veronica nodded in agreement. Ignoring the comment, Auston continued, “The Lando family is loyal to the royal family. Both Wayne and I have pledged ourselves to Her Majesty, and I can promise that Wayne will not kill you. However...”
Please, stop with the ‘but’ and ‘however’. You two really are father and son. You speak in the same way.
Juno groaned silently, waiting for Auston to continue. The combination of the Darkness Knight and the Death Knight was too much for her to handle.
“However, I don’t trust Celeste. He has to have other plans. To protect my family, Your Highness and Celeste will unfortunately have to go missing for a while.” Auston frowned deeply. “Don’t worry. You’ll only be on a vacation at a villa. After my problem has been resolved, you’ll be allowed to leave safely.”
He gave Wayne a look.
Use them for your experiments. Celeste can die, but not the Princess. You have to keep her alive.
Really? She’s your daughter. You know how the experiments can end. It’ll be difficult for her to retain herself.
First off, she’s not my daughter. Second, she knows too much, and leaving her like this will be a hidden threat.
Alright. I’ll try my best to keep her autonomy. Without her tipping me off, Master and Veronica could’ve died.
Make your own judgment!
After the eye communication, Wayne finally concluded that Elizabeth had no biological connection to Auston.
The glances they exchanged gave Celeste a strong sense of crisis. As a legendary mage, he had been through enough to know that the father and son were up to no good. The Princess wouldn’t be hurt as Auston’s daughter, and the worst she would suffer was temporary imprisonment. But Celeste wasn’t Auston’s illegitimate son.
He had to run, or he would be dead!
The legendary mage didn’t want to leave himself at the mercy of Auston and his son. Neither the Darkness Knight nor the Death Knight was a good fellow, and trusting them would lead to his doom.
He put on a resigned expression and shook his head dejectedly. While mumbling that he understood, he dissolved the spatial barrier and took the group back to the alley in the back of the theater.
While looking around, Celeste suddenly found his limbs bound by several tentacles. The sneak attack had somehow bypassed his keen senses, and when he realized it, he only saw a clump of tentacles in a yellow robe lunging at him.
Gurgle!
Receiving Wayne’s order, Pale Nest had subdued Celeste immediately in a simple method: acceptance, confession, understanding, coexistence, and assimilation.
In other words, it had swallowed him!
Seeing her master devoured by a tentacle monster, Juno said hoarsely, “You promised, Father.”
“Don’t worry, Your Highness. Only a legendary mage warrants such treatment. You aren’t at that level yet.” Wayne waved toward the dark. Mona opened her eyes, radiating sacred golden light.
“Mona, take Knight Juno back. Don’t listen to her excuses on the way. If she tries to run, take her out.”
“Understood.”
Mona grabbed Juno’s shoulder and left with the yellow-robed Pale Nest. Her obedience made Silvia and Veronica frown at the same time. Comparing this to the previous generation, Mona’s behavior was almost identical to Megan’s.
What does she feel about Wayne? A protective love?
Silvia thought about it and promptly put aside the side quest since it had nothing to do with her, and she had enough on her plate. Veronica couldn’t do the same. This was a main quest for her.
Eight legs walked into the alleyway, ten came out.
Parking lot.
Megan opened the car door, but Wayne claimed the driver’s seat before she could. “Your long robe is dragging on the floor, and you aren’t wearing shoes. It’s not safe for you to drive. I’ll do it.”
Megan nodded. Veronica had taken the passenger seat and was staring at Wayne, so she left the girl to it. The front row of the car was tense, but the tension in the back was even worse. Megan looked around and realized that there was no room for her in the car.
She couldn’t attach herself to the chassis of the car, could she?
“Come here, Megan. Sit beside me.” Silvia waved her over, taking her hand when she averted her eyes. “It’s okay. I don’t blame you. The bastard is to blame. I’ll always believe you.”
Having a protective kind of love was normal. Megan didn’t only feel that love for the bastard, but also for her. There was nothing wrong with that.
Her son also felt the same kind of love for her and Veronica. It was familial. She understood.
Silvia told Megan to leave it behind. The messenger of the Goddess of Darkness didn’t understand human emotions, so he was merely talking nonsense.
Auston silently sighed in relief. It was good that Silvia thought that way. His life was messy enough, so he didn’t need more mess. His body couldn’t take it!
“Wayne, what’s with Secretary Mona?” Veronica said from the passenger seat, making her attack. “She seems to know your secret.”
Auston’s eyes lit up. “Yeah, Wayne has more secrets other than being the Death Knight, and Mona knows everything.”
More secrets? x2
Veronica caught the keywords, and Silvia turned around curiously, too.
Wayne wasn’t panicked at all. He slowly drove back toward the Lando Estate. Since Auston was trying to make him a target, he only had to return the favor. He had nothing to fear.
“Bastard, say something!”
“It’s natural for the secretary to know the boss’s secrets. Didn’t Megan know Auston was the Darkness Knight a long time ago and not tell Master?”
Wayne went all in. “Moreover, when I still didn’t know about Auston being the Darkness Knight, he had sought out the Death Knight under the Queen’s order. He held Megan in his arms, groping and kissing her, even calling her his lover and mocking the Death Knight for being a skeleton who didn’t know the taste of a woman.”
“Megan’s expression was so dark. It was obvious that she didn’t want to be groped, but to play the role of the lover well, she ground her teeth together and chose to endure it.”
That was all it took for Wayne to make Auston the target again.
And he wasn’t done. He took a written note out of his pocket and handed it to Veronica. “When I exposed him for coveting Megan’s beauty and having her dress herself like Master and keep the same hairstyle, he got angry because he couldn’t defend himself. He demanded that I do the same to my secretary...”
“Of course I wouldn’t agree!”
“He threatened me as the head of the family and said that he would kick me out if I disagreed. I understand. He wanted to make me a scumbag to make him seem less scummy.”
“I resisted, but I didn’t want to be kicked out. I fought and managed to get this written proof, hoping that I would be able to prove my innocence when the time comes.”
During his indignant speech, the slip of paper had been passed from Veronica to Silvia. It stated clearly that Auston had ordered Wayne to get into an immoral relationship with his secretary, Mona. Megan had penned it, and Auston had signed.
(눈_눈)
Written proof. Auston had signed his name, so there was no use explaining himself. His wife wouldn’t listen.
“Bastard, explain!”
“Um...”
“I’m not listening. You’ll only lie.” Silvia punched Auston in the face and turned to Megan, taking a deep breath. “You tell me, Megan. I trust you. Tell me, did Auston touch... take advantage of you?”
“Mistress, Master has his reasons.”
“Did he touch you?”
Megan looked away, lowering her head. “I’m sorry. He wasn’t feeling good, so I couldn’t say no.”
“Bastard!”
Boom!
When the car returned home, it was missing a door, and Auston had walked back with a limp.
When he returned to his study, Megan had already created a soundproof barrier. Seeing him, she opened the door and entered the study with him.
“Being the Death Knight isn’t complicated. All this time, I’ve been the goddess’s spy in the Church of Death...”
Inside, Wayne was spinning lies with a serious expression. “Veronica, remember the night we met? You followed the energy of Death to me. I had just succeeded in infiltrating the enemy’s ranks.”
Veronica bought it, and Silvia did, too. While both knew that Wayne wasn’t telling the truth, they didn’t feel like pressing for an answer.
It didn’t matter what he was. What he felt mattered more!
Veronica mumbled about Mona with hostility. Wayne whispered into her ear, “Don’t worry. She’s still a virgin. Although Auston forced me to, I haven’t done anything to Mona. She’s still unclaimed.”
At least for now.
Veronica pushed him away with a blush. He shouldn’t get too close to her when her mother was watching, or she would misunderstand.
When Auston arrived at the scene, Wayne had already convinced the mother and daughter.
He had come to their rescue, making him someone eager to protect his family. And with his silver tongue, he emphasized his hard work and tireless effort, thus resolving the crisis quickly.
Auston was different. He was seen as someone who coveted Megan, forced his son to be a scummy pervert, had an illegitimate daughter with the Queen, lied about being the Darkness Knight, and had once slaughtered people at the Church of Nature’s base...
His crimes were too numerous to list. Neither his identity nor his feelings met the mark.
“You, kneel there and speak.”
“...”
Can I kneel in our room? There are too many people here, and the kids are watching.
