"What’s your next move?" Alex asked Nelson, when he walked out of his room to see him standing outside the foyer, with a drink in his hand. They never really shared a drink together today, but he’s sure that they would soon do that when things get better.
It’s still a relief to him that Nelson hasn’t really brought up the past between him, well that could only mean that he was sincere when he said that they should put the past behind them. Afterall, he had no other choice than to do that, since he needed his help.
After hearing him give him detailed information about his life over the years, Alex has come to understand that had it been Narika didn’t run away from home, then he wouldn’t be here tonight. They wouldn’t have met each other under these circumstances, and it would have cost him a lot if he was the one who seeked him first before he did.
But anyway he didn’t dwell more about their past mistakes, his past mistakes. All that mattered right now was to find a way to meet....who?
He didn’t know, as Nelson hasn’t said anything since after he made him know that Marilyn isn’t available at the moment. He didn’t know what step exactly he’s going to take, but he only hoped that whatever else he decides would lead him to meet Adrik, and fix things between them, but that was because he was only doing that for Polina.
There’s no way Adrik would hand Polina so easily back to him, without humiliating him just like he has done to him. But if that was the cross he was going to carry, he would gladly do that, as long as he gets his child. The loneliness over the past five years was something he didn’t want to experience again, and he’s not getting any younger, so he would rather spend the rest of his days he had left in unity with his family.
Nelson looked at him, a blank expression on his face because just like his father didn’t have anything else to tell him, that would help them find Narika. He also was clueless here and that’s more reason why he hasn’t called Marya yet.
The deal was to leave the country if he doesn’t come back in two days time, but it would also be heartbreaking that he comes back empty handed after risking his life, and putting his pride aside to go meet his father.
Although he could confess, his father wasn’t that much complicated to reason with just like the past years, he’s an unreasonable force to reckon with but just like he imagined, the loneliness over the years could have taught him a bitter lesson, although his step brother was now the person having to put up with his narcissistic nature.
"I don’t know father, at this point i’m afraid of what is going to happen to Narika. If i am right that she’s still in her right senses then she would be missing home, and be considerate enough to have mercy on her poor mother, and come back home. Even if it’s just for a day, but i guess she took your stubborn side." Nelson said with a chuckle, while his father rolled his eyes at him before looking away from him.
He knew he was stubborn, but hearing him tell him that didn’t settle well with him, especially when he had lived his days with his conscience bothering day in, day out that his stubbornness was the reason why his family was divided.
But this time he aimed to fix things, and to do that, he would have to come clean to Nelson. Although, he doesn’t know how well he’s going to take his confession, but at least it was better trying than to keep this hidden from him until things get more complicated than it is right now.
"Do you ever have the thoughts of any of us in the family not being human? Just like my granddaughter?" Alex started, but instead of an answer he got a laugh coming from Nelson’s part.
"Oh! Father please, you didn’t tell me your sense of humor did improve over the years. Seriously, Narika got that because i married her mother whose family is practically..."He paused, not knowing how to say it, because if he did then it would only seem as if he was behaving like his father."We are humans, father. Stop stressing your old mind."
It would seem as if he’s insulting Seline and her family, but that didn’t stop him from seeing the mistake he made, he should have had a deep knowledge about Marya and her family. Not that he didn’t love Narika nor his wife, no! But that would have helped all of them to fix this mistake on their part.
But he’s not a seer.
He’s not Seline, who couldn’t even see the future about how deeply involved his family, Marilyn and Adrik would be in this. No! She couldn’t see shit!
"I’m not old."Alex snapped.
"Yes you are, you are clocking your sixties father, that’s old age knocking at your door, don’t let your looks deceive you." Nelson had to tell him the truth, and before they knew it the both of them were laughing, while Adrian who stood at the stairs were watching them, before he cleaned his throat and they turned to him.
"Son, come over here." Alex beckoned for him to come closer, and he didn’t know if this was his father or maybe Lucifer was controlling him once again. But he’s glad that Nelson is back, although it didn’t sit well with Killa who was created out of the inferiority complex, and jealousy that he can never be loved like him.
Yet, it made him happy that seeing him here right now had helped him deeply because he stood for him, regardless of him having a second thought about him not seeing him like family, but he only figured out that he was all wrong.
He didn’t know when his father would go back to his normal self, maybe if Nelson leaves since he hasn’t said anything yet, but regardless he knew that today was the start of a new beginning and his father wouldn’t be able to intimidate or treat him, like the way he has treating him before.
"I’m sorry for the way i treated you, son. I’m deeply sorry, and this is not just about your brother forcing me to do this. I owe every apology and whatnot to you and... "Alex paused. He didn’t see this day coming, about him tending an apology to him nor to Camille, but ever since he had an idea about Lucifer, he’s been having goosebumps and bad feelings running up his mind about how things are going to end up bloody if care is not taken.
"Camille."Adrian reminded him of the name of his girlfriend.
"I hope she gets better, so we can have a father and daughter talk."Alex concluded, before Adrian hugged him. Did he forget that Adrian was the emotional one out of his two sons?
The old Alex, would have smacked him hard in the back of his head for behaving like a sissy, but the new him didn’t have any problem with him hugging him and acting all emotional.
"You are forgiven, father."Adrian said, trying hard not to cry, because that would only become more weird than usual.
Nelson stood aside watching the both of them, while he’s glad that things are back to normal. He felt bad knowing that Polina wasn’t here to see this, but whatever she is, he knew that she would be happy that the father is a changed mind, and it’s because of his granddaughter, Narika.
"I guess this deserves to be celebrated, but then there’s still a bigger issue about finding my niece." Adrian said, looking at Nelson for any options that he could have to find Narika.
"About that, I think it’s right that i let Jason know about what’s happening. Although i know the douchebag, he wouldn’t take this seriously because he’s a douchebag." Alex said, as he didn’t know where his stand with him was anymore. He becomed involved in this the moment Marilyn cheated and had a son that isn’t his.
Did he know that Adrik wasn’t his son?
Alex tried to think, but just like he said Jason is a douchebag so there’s no way he would find out that Adrik isn’t his flesh and blood.
But keeping that aside, he turned to look at both Adrian and Nelson."I have something to tell you guys, I know this sounds crazy but i figured out that there is no point in hiding this anymore.
"Please don’t tell me you are getting married." Adrian blurted out, causing Nelson to burst out into laughter seeing his father’s face.
"What? No!"
"What is it then, father?"Nelson asked, placing his hand on Adrian’s shoulder, while they both looked at him with curious eyes.
"Polina is alive."
