Chapter 327 - Naruto: I am Uchiha Shirou [327]
Hokage Office Building.
"Hey, hey! How dare you stop me? My grandfather was the heroic Third Hokage who sacrificed himself to protect the village. Why are you stopping me?!"
Konohamaru's face was filled with anger as he glared at the two ninjas blocking his way into the Hokage Office Building, loudly asserting his identity.
However, the two Chūnin, who usually never stopped him, awkwardly lowered their heads and said in a serious tone:
"We're sorry, Konohamaru. The Hokage has issued an order—no one is allowed to enter the Ninja Technique Archive without the Hokage's personal authorization!"
"Damn it! How dare you stop me from going in!"
"Apologies, Konohamaru. While we won't stop you from entering the Hokage Office Building itself, the Ninja Technique Archive is a classified area. No one is allowed in without the Hokage's authorization!"
As the two Chūnin continued explaining, Konohamaru grew even more furious. He was no longer a child.
"I get it now! All those rumors in the village recently were true! You took my grandfather's Hokage position, and now you're turning your back on our family..."
In Konohamaru's eyes, the Hokage's position belonged to his grandfather, and by extension, the entire village belonged to his family. This sense of entitlement seemed ingrained in him since childhood.
"Konohamaru, please watch your words!"
"Shut up! Uncle Asuma's death must have something to do with you people!"
At that moment, Konohamaru glared at the people blocking his way. In the past, he could come and go as he pleased—who dared to stop him?
Why were they suddenly barring him now?
"Isn't that Konohamaru?"
At this moment, Uzumaki Naruto happened to walk over, looking confused as he scratched his head. Alongside him was his teammate, Haruno Sakura.
"Hey, why are you stopping Konohamaru?"
Naruto, as bold as ever, stepped forward to defend his little brother, looking every bit the part of someone ready to back him up. When Konohamaru saw his big brother Naruto, his face showed a hint of grievance, as if he had finally found someone to complain to.
"Big Brother Naruto, my grandfather sacrificed his life for Konoha... and now they're stopping me..."
Konohamaru spoke angrily, and Naruto, hearing this, also showed dissatisfaction. He turned toward the two Chūnin blocking the way and shouted:
"You guys are going too far! Konohamaru just wants to check out the ninja techniques. It's not like he hasn't gone in before. Why stop him now?"
Faced with Naruto, the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, the two Chūnin could only sigh helplessly and explain the situation again.
But Naruto didn't care—he took Konohamaru's side and started making a scene.
To them, the Hokage Office Building was practically the Sarutobi family's home. Why were they stopping the grandson of the Third Hokage from entering?
This wasn't even the first time this had happened. Back when Tsunade first returned to the village to take over as the Fifth Hokage, Konohamaru had blocked the entrance to the archive, even setting up explosive tag traps to stop her, acting as if the Hokage Office Building was his personal property.
At that time, Tsunade had simply scoffed and didn't make a big deal out of it, casually dismantling the traps and stepping on the explosive tags to extinguish them.
If she had wanted to pursue the matter, setting up explosive tags in the Hokage Office's archive could have been treated as a serious crime.
...
Meanwhile, in the Hokage's office, several Jōnin, including Hatake Kakashi, were gathered. The commotion outside caused them to exchange awkward glances.
"Tsunade-sama!"
Kakashi looked particularly uncomfortable. Naruto was causing trouble again—he just didn't understand the gravity of the situation.
The other Jōnin remained silent. It was no wonder Tsunade wanted to take action. Incidents like this made it clear that the Sarutobi clan and the previous advisors treated the Hokage Office Building as their private property. To them, the Fifth Hokage was just a temporary placeholder.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Keep talking!"
Seated at the Hokage's desk, Tsunade sneered at the crowd, particularly at Jiraiya and the two elderly advisors, Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu, who had specifically come to discuss the matter.
"Tsunade, I think this is just a misunderstanding," Jiraiya said awkwardly, glaring at Homura and Koharu.
'Look at the mess you've caused. You wanted me to persuade Tsunade, and now this is what I'm dealing with.'
"Misunderstanding?!"
Tsunade let out a cold laugh, crossing her arms as she stared indifferently at the group of Jōnin.
It was clear to her now—Konoha had long since lost respect for the Senju clan. To these people, the village was their personal property.
"Tsunade, Naruto is well-known to everyone, and Konohamaru is just a kid. But you're the Fifth Hokage of Konoha! If you act too drastically now, the village will fall into chaos."
To Jiraiya, this incident with Konohamaru was trivial. His real goal was to stabilize Konoha and ensure everyone got along.
Unlike Jiraiya, Kakashi hesitated for a moment before speaking seriously:
"Tsunade-sama, several departments have recently shown signs of passive resistance. Perhaps it would be better to..."
Kakashi had no desire to get involved in this matter. However, since he was present, he had no choice but to stand between Tsunade and the others to mediate.
"Damn it! How can ninjas slack off in their duties?!"
Might Guy shouted passionately, his fiery spirit on full display. Kakashi nodded in agreement, and the two of them, working in tandem, left Homura and Koharu fuming. Their faces turned red and pale in anger.
It was obvious that Kakashi and Guy were siding with Tsunade, subtly criticizing the advisors while allowing Tsunade to resolve things diplomatically.
The other Jōnin in the room weren't fools—they understood the situation perfectly.
Tsunade, sitting at her desk, finally softened her cold expression after seeing the support from Kakashi and Guy.
At least some people still acknowledged her as the Hokage.
"Jiraiya, what role are you speaking from right now? Are you a ninja of Konoha? A companion? Or are you here as a mouthpiece for these two old relics?"
"How dare you!"
"Such insolence!"
In the Hokage's office, aside from Tsunade sitting at her desk, only Homura and Koharu dared to demand chairs for themselves.
Hearing Tsunade's blunt and disrespectful words, the two advisors were outraged. How could she speak to them like this? After all, they had watched her grow up and had been comrades of her teacher, the Third Hokage.
"Tsunade!"
Jiraiya looked at her, exasperated, silently pleading for her to calm down. Why was she stirring up trouble at such a critical moment?
"Jiraiya! I am the Fifth Hokage of Konoha!"
Tsunade's furious voice filled the room, her overwhelming presence suffocating everyone inside. The tension in the office was palpable.
Even Jiraiya, who usually wore a carefree smile, grew serious.
"Tsunade, the Akatsuki organization is currently collecting Tailed Beasts. We don't know what their plans are, but the village can't afford chaos right now! I know the advisors have overstepped, but that's no excuse for you to act recklessly!"
Jiraiya's words made it clear—he believed Tsunade couldn't handle the situation alone. If she pushed too hard, Konoha would only descend into turmoil.
However, upon hearing this, Tsunade let out a chilling laugh. At that moment, she felt utterly disappointed in Jiraiya, her eyes filled with disdain.
"Jiraiya, after all these years, you haven't changed at all. When faced with problems, you either run away or pretend they don't exist. It's because of cowards like you that Konoha has fallen to this state!"
Jiraiya's heart sank as he saw the coldness and disappointment in Tsunade's eyes. It was a look he never expected to see.
Tsunade didn't give him another chance. Instead, she turned her head and spoke coldly:
"Everyone, former Jonin Commander Shikaku Nara has submitted his resignation due to the recurrence of old injuries and is now recovering at home. Hatake Kakashi, as of this moment, I officially appoint you as the new Jonin Commander of Konoha."
Kakashi sighed in frustration. As expected, no matter what he did, he couldn't escape the whirlpool of power struggles.
Faced with the Hokage's formal order, all he could do was suppress his helpless expression, adopt a serious demeanor, and solemnly declare before everyone:
"Hatake Kakashi of Konoha's Jonin obeys the Hokage's command!"
"You!" Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu widened their eyes in disbelief. Tsunade was blatantly ignoring them, even acting with complete disregard for their positions.
Even with Jiraiya back in the village, she was acting like this. What would happen to them if Jiraiya left Konoha again? They couldn't imagine how Tsunade might deal with them.
As for the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, they were downright shameless, using underhanded methods to withdraw from the power struggle entirely.
"Tsunade! You're too presumptuous!"
"You old fools! I've tolerated you for long enough!" Tsunade roared.
"Tsunade, we were appointed as Hokage advisors by the Third Hokage himself. What right do you have to dismiss us?" Koharu demanded.
"By the fact that my grandfather was the First Hokage, my grand-uncle was the Second Hokage, and my Senju Clan founded Konoha! By the fact that I've never taken a drop of Konoha's blood or stolen a single coin! Is that enough?!" Tsunade bellowed.
"Now, you two old relics—do you have the guts to explain to everyone here why, as the Second Hokage's bodyguards, you abandoned him in the Land of Lightning and fled back to Konoha alone?!"
Tsunade slammed her hand on the table in rage. Background and heritage? In all of Konoha, she feared no one on that front!
If you combined the bloodlines of everyone in Konoha, they still wouldn't match the Senju Clan.
She even brought up the Second Hokage's sacrifice again, leaving Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu pale-faced and furious. They glared at Tsunade with rage.
This was too much!
For years, no one dared to treat them this way. Tsunade had gone too far!
"Tsunade!"
"Shut up, Jiraiya! I've already been lenient by not holding these old fools accountable for abandoning the Hokage and fleeing back alone!"
Still furious, Tsunade shouted coldly, "You old relics can make up whatever stories you want after this, but the fact remains: you abandoned the Hokage, which led to the Second Hokage's sacrifice on the battlefield!
You ostracized Sakumo Hatake, vilifying him for abandoning a mission and causing a significant loss to the village. Even now, he cannot be honored as a hero on the Memorial Stone. You should think carefully about your legacies instead!"
"You—!"
Tsunade had torn away their façade with brutal force, leaving everyone in the room stunned. Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu's faces twisted in rage.
Though few people knew the truth about the Second Hokage's death, everyone here was well aware of the situation surrounding Sakumo Hatake.
Indeed, as the weight of her accusations sank in, the faces of the gathered Jonin turned grim. Even Kakashi's expression became more serious.
The facts were laid bare: both incidents involved abandoning something critical. One was the Hokage himself, the other was a mission. But the consequences? They were not equal.
"Tsunade, what's gotten you so worked up—"
As the tense atmosphere reached its peak, the doors to the Hokage's office suddenly opened, and a calm, unfamiliar voice interrupted the scene.
"Who is that?!"
A tall, handsome figure stepped into the office, his demeanor composed. Uchiha Shirou walked in without hesitation, ignoring the countless gazes fixed on him, and stopped in front of the Hokage's desk.
Even Tsunade, who had just been as cold as ice, softened her expression upon seeing him.
"You're here, Shirou."
"With your shouting, how could I not come?"
Under everyone's stunned gaze, Shirou walked behind Tsunade and gently massaged her shoulders. The furious Princess Tsunade immediately calmed down.
Senju Shirou!
The name instantly popped into everyone's minds.
This was the mysterious man who had suddenly appeared at Tsunade's residence. Shortly after, his name had been added to the official records as a Jonin of Konoha.
"Tsunade, who is he?!"
Even Jiraiya looked utterly shocked, his face filled with disbelief.
He had thought the rumors he'd heard after returning to Konoha were just baseless gossip. But now, seeing this scene unfold—Tsunade's sudden calm demeanor and the intimacy between her and this man—how could it be a rumor?!
His heart broke. Facing this situation in front of so many people, he couldn't help but feel like a fool.
"What's your identity?! Who allowed you to enter here?!" Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu seized the opportunity to lash out at the man who had intruded into the Hokage's office.
Especially Koharu, who angrily stood up and glared at Tsunade. "Tsunade, I don't care what you do in private, but this is the Hokage's office! You can't just bring in some random man!"
This accusation made Tsunade freeze for a moment. Then, she couldn't help but smirk.
"Shirou, this old relic is asking about you."
Trying to suppress her laughter, Tsunade softly patted Shirou's hand resting on her shoulder.
Shirou slowly raised his head, his gaze sweeping across the room. He completely ignored the two advisors.
"I believe I hold the rank of Jonin in Konoha. Am I not allowed to be here, Commander Hatake Kakashi?"
Dragging Kakashi into the fray, Shirou's tone carried a hint of amusement.
Kakashi sighed inwardly, resigned to his fate. He nodded and said, "As a Jonin of Konoha, no one, not even the Hokage, can restrict your access to this office for official reports."
Hearing this, Tsunade couldn't hold back her laughter any longer. Her eyes sparkled with amusement.
Who would've thought that the strongest Hokage in another world would come to her Konoha and have to deal with nonsense like this?
"Jonin?! Tsunade, this is absurd!" Mitokado Homura shouted angrily.
"Konoha's Jonin earned their positions through years of dedication and sacrifice. And you just appoint someone at will?!"
"Tsunade, if you continue with this reckless behavior, don't blame me for rallying the Jonin to remove you from the Hokage's seat!"
Boom!
Just as Homura raised the banner of righteousness to try and suppress Tsunade, a terrifying chakra burst forth, shocking everyone in the room.
Even Jiraiya's face changed in disbelief as he muttered, "Impossible!"
The overwhelming chakra spread like a tsunami, leaving the Jonin drenched in cold sweat. All eyes turned toward the source of this immense pressure.
Senju Shirou.
"This... could kill us!" was Kakashi's first thought as a bead of sweat rolled down his face.
'Who exactly is this person? Without a single piece of information, he suddenly appeared, and with such an immense amount of chakra—it's simply beyond what any human could possess, even surpassing Jiraiya-sama.'
However, Shirou, who was emanating this terrifying chakra, merely nodded lightly in an indifferent and unhurried manner.
"Tsunade, you're truly an unqualified Hokage. Even Konoha's rules have been broken like this!"
"I couldn't help it. If only you had come earlier, then this group wouldn't have dared to bully others."
"Not good!"
Suddenly, when everyone saw Shirou casually flick his fingers, Kakashi and Jiraiya were instantly alarmed. Was he about to make a move?
But in the next moment, something appeared in the Hokage's office that left everyone utterly stunned.
