Naruto: Limit Breaker-Chapter 333: Taking Advantage of the Situation
Chapter 333: Taking Advantage of the Situation
"As you said, I’m invincible in this world. So how do you plan to fight me?"
Under the night sky, Saitama stood high in the void, staring at Ryosuke expressionlessly. The sky was clear, with no clouds in sight. The massive moon cast a faint glow, lighting the two of them from above.
"You’ll find out soon enough."
Ryosuke smiled at him. "Then..."
Blue light suddenly flared around his body.
"Let’s begin."
The waves of blue light spread outward, and in the blink of an eye they split into more than twenty shining doors suspended in midair.
"This is..."
Saitama half narrowed his eyes, trying to get a better look. But before he could, Ryosuke vanished from where he stood. The next instant, his figure appeared right in front of Saitama, and his fist shot forward.
Boom!
The punch smashed hard into Saitama’s face. The force pierced through his cheek without resistance, the shockwave almost snapping his neck from the airflow alone.
Then all of Ryosuke’s power vanished in an instant, as if he had turned back into an ordinary person. His fist landed weakly against Saitama’s cheek.
"I told you. You can’t hurt me here."
Saitama pressed his face lazily into Ryosuke’s fist, not feeling even the slightest strain. He was calm enough to chat while doing it.
"So this is what it feels like to fight someone who controls the rules?"
Ryosuke pulled his hand back, eyes bright. "This is really interesting!"
His voice was filled with excitement. That punch had been his first full power strike since reaching his current level, and yet it could not shake Saitama at all.
It was not that the rules had weakened him into a normal person. Rather, his strength had been blocked completely by Saitama’s rules, like slamming into an invisible wall.
"There’s something even more interesting."
Saitama’s calm voice fell. He suddenly raised his fist and struck.
The movement was simple, but there was no restraint. It was a full power blow.
Ryosuke had already tasted that punch before, so he knew how terrifying it was.
In the next moment, the tangled power of rules spread from the point of contact, and Ryosuke’s body exploded without surprise, blooming into nothingness.
"Is that all you’ve got?"
Saitama lowered his arm, eyes still fixed ahead. He did not relax for a second. He clearly did not believe Ryosuke was finished.
And he was right.
Ryosuke reformed instantly, so fast it was as if he had never been shattered at all.
"Recovering that quickly..."
For the first time, Saitama’s casual look shifted.
But quick recovery alone meant nothing.
"I’m curious what you are right now."
Ryosuke was wrapped in dazzling silver light that covered his entire body, even his face. "Are you Mr Saitama... or are you a manifestation of this world’s rules?"
There was too much about Saitama that made no sense to him.
How could someone be unbelievably strong, yet have no idea he was strong?
Mastering rules was already hard enough. Using the power of rules directly without any foundation of strength was nearly impossible.
It was like someone who had never been to school suddenly solving a math problem that had stumped the entire world.
Possible, sure.
But the odds were laughably tiny.
Could Saitama really have stumbled into this kind of power by accident? It was too absurd.
Yet after seeing Saitama’s current state, after feeling that isolation and meeting those empty eyes, Ryosuke began to understand.
Saitama’s gaze right now felt like it came from on high, looking down on everything without emotion. The life or death of any being meant nothing to him.
Ryosuke knew that feeling well.
And after what he had seen through the amplified Tenseigan, he finally grasped the truth.
Right now, Saitama was not a hero, not even Saitama.
Maybe he was not even human.
He was a world rule that had gained self awareness.
That was why, when Ryosuke amplified his Tenseigan to look at him, he had seen nothing.
When Saitama held the rules, he represented the world itself.
"That’s an interesting guess."
Saitama did not deny it. "I’m not the original owner of this body. But I can’t tell you what I really am."
He lifted his hand again. "But can you keep recovering like that? Forever?"
"The way you rebuilt yourself just now... it reminds me of someone I once met."
Even as he spoke, his fist did not slow.
Another punch flashed toward Ryosuke.
Saitama’s attacks were too fast to dodge, and even harder to block. Since avoiding was pointless, Ryosuke simply punched forward.
When their fists collided, a massive shockwave ripped through the sky like a tidal wave.
Ryosuke’s body shattered again, then gathered and rebuilt itself almost instantly.
At their level, techniques often became a burden instead of a help. That was why Ryosuke had gradually stopped relying on them in past battles, focusing on body and soul instead.
But in this fight, body and soul could only take a back seat.
Boom, boom, boom!
Again and again, Ryosuke was blown apart. Again and again, he reformed, throwing his fist forward to meet Saitama’s.
The planet below had already been thrown into chaos. Climate and land churned like a whirlpool under the constant collisions.
Yet neither of them stopped.
Down below, the planet’s creatures, heroes and monsters alike, tried to approach and halt the battle.
But the pressure spilling from the sky made that impossible.
Flying vehicles were blown away on approach. Even superpowered fliers were smashed back by the air currents, and weaker ones were crushed outright.
No one could interfere. They could only endure the fallout and pray the fight ended quickly.
No matter who won, only when those two stopped would anyone have a chance to step in.
"You said you could learn to use my power from my fist?"
Saitama kept throwing punch after punch, face blank. "Then what have you learned from all of them?"
Ryosuke gave no answer.
"I remember now. You look just like that guy from outer space."
"Same resilience, same fighting spirit, same arrogant stare."
"He perfectly wove his so called techniques into battle, but in the end... he was still fragile."
Saitama never stopped talking.
And his guess was correct. The man from outer space was Ryosuke’s previous life.
"You’re connected to him, aren’t you? You’re here for revenge."
His tone was absolute, leaving no room for doubt.
"You’re faster and stronger than he was, but you still haven’t improved."
"With this level, do you really think you can beat me?"
"Since you call my power a rule, then why don’t you use it at all?"
Sentence after sentence fell coldly. Yet as he kept punching, that flat voice began to pick up a faint edge of irritation.
The consciousness inhabiting Saitama’s body was not as emotionless as it claimed. It clearly felt annoyed at Ryosuke’s silence, as if it wanted him to truly fight back.
That impatience was very similar to Saitama himself.
Even so, Ryosuke stayed quiet.
He could not spare energy to argue. Against someone who already knew these rules inside out, forcing the rules to move at his command was not easy.
Punch after punch. Explosion after explosion.
The process was repeating, and Ryosuke’s refusal to speak or explain only deepened Saitama’s disappointment.
It almost felt like he was about to stop and abandon this body altogether.
An opponent like this was not worth his time.
But that disappointment froze before he could act.
Boom!
Their fists collided once more under moonlight, and the resulting pressure tore the air apart.
This time, Saitama froze.
Boom!
Another strike followed.
Saitama was still stunned, too slow to react.
Ryosuke’s fist slammed into his face.
The force drove cleanly through flesh, entered Saitama’s body, and carried into his senses.
Then Saitama flew backward.
He was pushed more than a hundred meters through the sky before stopping.
"Pain..."
Saitama’s eyes widened. He clutched his cheek in disbelief. The blow was not overwhelmingly strong, more like a heavy shove, yet it made him feel something he was not supposed to feel anymore.
The sensation of being alive.
"Don’t worry. There’s worse coming."
Ryosuke finally spoke. His voice was calm.
In the next breath, he flashed forward and struck again.
Saitama snapped out of it and punched back.
Bang!
He was sent flying again.
This time, pain exploded in his arm. A sharp crack made it clear what had happened.
A fracture.
His hand bone was broken.
The force in Ryosuke’s punch was enough to snap it clean.
Before Saitama could recover, Ryosuke unleashed a relentless barrage.
Like he was collecting the debt for every time his body had been blasted apart earlier, he did not hold back even once.
Slowly, the one being forced to take hits shifted from Ryosuke to Saitama.
Saitama’s recovery was nowhere near Ryosuke’s. Each blow stacked more damage on him, slowing his reactions until finally he could only stare and endure.
Yet even while being beaten, there was no fear in Saitama’s eyes.
Only shock.
He did not seem worried about dying.
Of course not.
This was only a consciousness borrowing Saitama’s body to fight.
"Is that all your power amounts to?"
Ryosuke stopped at last, breaking the quiet. He stared down at Saitama’s mangled body.
There were gaps where his right arm and left leg should have been. Blood holes riddled his torso. Only his face was still mostly intact.
Ryosuke had deliberately avoided striking his face, and anything vital. He had a good impression of Saitama. He did not want the real Saitama to die without even knowing what had happened to him.
"You... how did you do it?"
Saitama’s injuries made speaking difficult. But his tone held no pain, only confusion.
"Have you mastered the rules? Do you have the same power as me?"
He sounded almost urgent.
"Mastering rules isn’t easy. I still don’t fully understand your world’s rules."
Ryosuke shook his head. "Maybe I could gain full control, but it would take too long."
"So going step by step is too slow. If I want to understand faster, I have to shorten the road."
"I remembered something an old man once said. Use magic to defeat magic."
After a pause, he raised his hand. The twenty plus time space gates behind him vanished one by one.
"I used the rules of other worlds to temporarily balance this world’s rules and create a fair battlefield for us."
Ryosuke still could not find the reason behind Saitama’s power within this world’s rules alone.
Once he realized Saitama might be favored by the rules themselves, he chose a different path.
At the start of the battle, he opened more than twenty time space gates and borrowed part of the rule force from those worlds, using them to offset this world’s suppression on him.
