Chapter 203 - The Ten Tails, Revived

"There it is!"

"A massive chakra reaction has erupted in the north!"

At the Allied Shinobi Forces Headquarters, the chakra detection barrier orb blazed with intense energy. Everyone immediately realized what had happened.

Uchiha Obito.

The chakra was coming from him.

The man who had hidden in the shadows for so long had finally revealed himself. The response from HQ was swift.

"Move immediately!"

"Send the ambush unit at top speed!"

"We'll follow behind! All divisions are to sweep the area on route, searching for traces of Obito's allies Orochimaru and the remaining Akatsuki members!"

Above them, the sky was darkening with storm clouds.

Obito stood atop the Gedo Statue, now infused with the chakra of eight tailed beasts. The statue opened its mouth wide, releasing two massive chains.

Those chains wrapped around the Gold and Silver Brothers.

In the next instant, crimson Nine-Tails chakra erupted from their bodies—residue from when they had once devoured the beast's flesh.

The Gedo Statue suddenly shuddered with excitement, pulling the brothers into its gaping maw. Its eyes blazed with light.

It was happening.

The once-dried husk of the Gedo Statue was now saturated with chakra—enough to reawaken its true form.

ROAR!!

It reared its head and howled to the heavens.

No longer the Gedo Statue...

It was now the Ten Tails.

The source of all chakra in the world.

Everyone had heard of the Ten Tails, and its terrifying power—but none had imagined the sheer dread that would accompany its return.

Worse still...

It emerged with an instinctive desire to destroy the ninja world.

The Ten Tails was a rampaging beast.

Obito, realizing things were spiraling out of control, quickly landed on the Ten Tails' head and tried to subdue it with his Rinnegan.

But just as he began forming the seals to become its Jinchūriki, a black vortex of space-time split open in front of him.

"Tsk... Caused quite the spectacle, didn't you?"

Madara Uchiha emerged first, his mocking voice brimming with arrogant confidence.

"Madara!"

Obito's face darkened. He'd expected Akatsuki to arrive quickly, especially after what Shigen had done to Iwagakure—but this was too fast.

From the portal came rows of Akatsuki members in black cloaks, parting down the center as a black wheelchair slowly rolled through.

Shigen had arrived.

Akatsuki had mobilized in full force.

"Hmph."

Obito scoffed angrily and wasted no time. He activated Kamui, summoning his own reinforcements.

Orochimaru.

Kisame Hoshigaki.

And—Uchiha Sasuke.

"Hah?"

Madara barely blinked at Orochimaru and Kisame, but when he spotted Sasuke, he paused—surprised for a moment, then chuckled wryly.

"Sasuke, have you chosen his side?"

Sasuke remained silent for a moment before answering with a truth that silenced them both:

"What difference does it make? You both want the same thing."

"Tch..."

"You little brat..."

Madara sighed, not angrily but wistfully:

"Still, it does make a difference. I personally raised Obito. He betrayed me. And I raised you too, Sasuke..."

"You should be used to that by now."

Obito shot him a scornful glare:

"When you left Konoha, not a single clansman followed you."

Madara just smiled, though a glint of cold light flickered in his eyes:

"True. I've long since grown used to betrayal... ATTACK!"

At Madara's word, he lunged toward Obito and the Ten Tails.

"Summoning Jutsu!"

Orochimaru slammed his hand down, summoning coffins from the ground. One opened—and the incomplete form of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, leapt out to clash with Madara.

"Madara!"

"Hahahaha! Hashirama! Just in time!"

Madara laughed joyously and hurled himself into battle, completely ignoring Obito and the Ten Tails.

Chaos erupted across the battlefield.

Akatsuki members surged forward to meet the Edo Tensei forces. The area became a warzone.

"Be careful..."

Orochimaru landed atop the Ten Tails' head and warned Obito:

"Shigen can break the balance at any moment—he can easily dispel Edo Tensei."

"I won't give him the chance..."

Obito's Rinnegan flared as he tried to stabilize the Ten Tails and glared straight at Shigen.

Then, he struck.

The Ten Tails opened its maw.

Ten tails rose high behind it.

A massive, blood-red Tailed Beast Bomb began to form—targeting Shigen directly.

"That's..."

"The Ten Tails' Beast Bomb?"

Even Kabuto looked shaken. He'd never seen anything like it. The scale of chakra far eclipsed anything any tailed beast had produced before.

"Coming right for me?"

Shigen calmly lifted his hand.

Yomi-no-Hirasaka bent space into a tiled grid as a black portal expanded in front of him.

WHOOSH!

The Tailed Beast Bomb vanished into the portal.

"No!"

Obito's eyes widened.

A second portal opened behind the Ten Tails.

Too massive to move quickly, the beast couldn't escape in time—

BOOM!

The Tailed Beast Bomb slammed into its back, triggering a massive explosion that launched Obito, Orochimaru, and the Ten Tails into the sky.

The shockwave engulfed the battlefield.

Everyone was blasted back, barely escaping with their lives.

"Did the Ten Tails just blow itself up...?"

Kabuto brushed away dust and stared up at Shigen—who had calmly nullified the shockwave—and then up at the falling Ten Tails.

"It won't die."

Shigen shook his head.

He could feel the beast evolving midair.

It was sentient.

A beast, yes—but a smart one. When faced with danger, it began to transform.

SPLAT.

The Ten Tails crashed down like a mass of rotten flesh.

Then began its metamorphosis.

Its frame shrank and thinned, growing long claws where tails once were. Its head twisted into a tangle of roots, and in its center, a single red Rinnegan with tomoe spun—

Fixated on Shigen.

ROAR!!!

It howled at him.

"Don't attack Shigen..."

Obito clenched his jaw, forcing the Ten Tails to halt.

The figure in the wheelchair was untouchable.

Attack him—and they'd suffer worse.

Don't attack him—and he'd control the battlefield.

That blind man...

Was proving to be the most dangerous enemy of all.
