Naruto: Wooing Tsunade from Day One!-Chapter 374: Mito Pressures for Marriage
Chapter 374 - 374: Mito Pressures for Marriage
It had not even been a month, and the wedding of the Uchiha Clan Head was already upon Konoha.
This was the day!
The Uchiha Clan was adorned with lanterns and streamers, exuding a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Early in the morning, Uchiha Clan members could be seen rushing about for the wedding, while guests arrived to offer their congratulations. The clan grounds were abuzz with activity.
Many of Konoha's senior officials and Clan Heads were present for the occasion. Even Tadashi Hyūga had brought his sons, Hiashi and Hizashi, to extend their congratulations to the newlyweds, Fugaku and Mikoto.
Since Tsunade's rise to power, Tadashi had recognized that the Uchiha's ascent was unstoppable. Wisely, he had chosen to ease relations with the Uchiha, and Fugaku had passively accepted the Hyūga Clan's overtures.
Although the current relationship between the two clans was far from brotherly, at least the days of open or hidden struggles were behind them.
The wedding officially began at the appointed hour at Fugaku's mansion. Mikoto, dressed in a pure white wedding gown and adorned with exquisite makeup, was breathtakingly beautiful. Fugaku, on the other hand, wore a permanent smile on his face, but it did little to improve his appearance. Standing together, the two were like a flower stuck in cow dung. But Mikoto didn't care—she liked him, and that was enough.
Kawakaze not only presented Fugaku with a generous red envelope but was also invited to serve as the witness. At first, he had tried to refuse, claiming he wasn't respected enough for the role. However, Fugaku's enthusiasm was impossible to resist.
With his reputation as the God of Shinobi and his status as the Hokage's husband, Kawakaze was well-known throughout Konoha. Having him as the witness was an honor for both Fugaku and Mikoto. After a series of exaggerated compliments, Kawakaze found himself overwhelmed and unable to come up with further excuses. He reluctantly agreed and delivered his best wishes to the couple before all the assembled guests.
Several unmarried young couples in the audience looked at the stage with envy in their eyes. Among them were Minato and Nawaki.
Kushina, Mikoto's best friend, was moved to tears. She clung to Minato's arm, wiping her tears on his shoulder, while Minato gently stroked her red hair, conveying his thoughts without words. Nearby, Misaki cast a shy glance at Nawaki, and when their eyes met, both blushed.

With Kawakaze's speech concluded, he stepped off the stage, signaling the end of the wedding ceremony. After completing all the formalities, Fugaku and Mikoto began to toast their guests. By the time they returned to the main table, it was clear that Fugaku was walking with some difficulty.
Out of consideration for Fugaku's wedding night, Kawakaze and the rest of his friends refrained from urging him to drink further.
As night fell, the grand wedding came to a successful conclusion. The Uchiha Clan, lively throughout the day, finally grew quiet.
Fugaku and Mikoto's new room was naturally filled with springtime joy, a private moment not meant for outsiders to know.
Meanwhile, Kawakaze and the others walked home with unsteady, drunken steps.
"Sister, brother-in-law."
"We're leaving."
Nawaki and Misaki bid farewell to Kawakaze and Tsunade at the fork in the road.
"Well, go back and tell Grandma that we'll bring Ginji to see her tomorrow," Tsunade said, waving her hand as she continued walking side by side with Kawakaze.
Ginji and Kakashi trailed behind them, while farther back, Sakumo and Nayuki were nearly out of sight.
"You go back too. See you tomorrow," Minato said as he stopped in his tracks, gently pulling Kushina off his arm.
"Okay, remember to miss me."
Kushina tilted her head slightly, her eyes unfocused. Her face was flushed, clearly from drinking too much that day.
"Okay, go home and get some sleep," Minato cooed softly, placing one hand on her shoulder while his other hand stroked the red hair on the right side of her head.
"Okay."
Kushina gave Minato a tired hug before turning to leave. Minato stood watching until she caught up with Nawaki and the others. Only then did he catch up with his two juniors.
"Senior Brother Minato, when are we going to attend your wedding banquet?"
Kakashi unwrapped a piece of candy and popped it into Ginji's mouth, both of them watching Minato with eager anticipation.
"Haha, I'm in no hurry, so why are you?"
Minato chuckled at their eagerness, though his thoughts began to wander.
He and Kushina would have their day.
...
Nawaki and the others returned to the Senju mansion, where the lights in the courtyard were still on.
In recent years, Mito had become increasingly reluctant to go out. With Ginji starting school, she spent more and more time at home on her own.
As they pushed open the door, the three of them were still talking and laughing, discussing Fugaku and Mikoto's wedding. Suddenly, a figure appeared before them, startling all three.
"Grandma, why did you walk without making a sound?" Nawaki exclaimed, patting his chest as if frightened. It wasn't entirely an act—he had been genuinely startled.
"Grandma," Kushina and Misaki called out respectfully in unison before lowering their heads.
In front of Mito, they always felt like children. Seeing their slightly drunken appearance filled them with an inexplicable sense of panic and nervousness.
"Hm." Mito acknowledged them before turning to Nawaki with a slight smile. "You're blaming Grandma when you didn't even notice yourself?"
"No, no, I was just saying that off the cuff," Nawaki quickly replied, grinning as he walked over to take Mito's arm. His demeanor was far from adult-like.
"Rascal, you just know how to make Grandma happy."
"Was the wedding of that Uchiha boy lively today?" Mito asked. She had received an invitation but had declined, citing her preference for peace and quiet. She didn't want her presence to create pressure for the guests. Whether due to her status as a Jinchūriki or her position as the First Hokage's wife, she was someone who couldn't be ignored.
"It was really lively, with a lot of people there," Kushina chimed in, though she felt embarrassed to admit she had cried. As Mikoto's best friend, she had been deeply moved and sincerely wished the best for the newlyweds.
"Really? That's good." Mito beamed with satisfaction. Hashirama had failed to fully integrate the Uchiha Clan into the village, but under Tsunade's leadership, some of that regret had been remedied.
"Grandma, let's go inside and chat," Nawaki said, taking Mito's hand and leading her toward the living room. He was feeling quite thirsty.
Once they arrived, he helped Mito sit down and then anxiously poured tea for everyone.
"What are your thoughts on watching other people get married?" Mito asked nonchalantly, taking a sip of tea.
"What are my thoughts?"
"It's just that brother-in-law almost stole the show from the groom today," Nawaki replied, full of energy as he recounted the day's amusing moments. It wasn't that Kawakaze had deliberately drawn attention; it was simply that Fugaku's appearance left much to be desired.
"Fugaku is good in every way and very attentive to Mikoto," Kushina added. "It's just that his looks are really lacking." She dared to say this even in front of Mikoto, so naturally, she was even bolder about it at home.
"You shouldn't judge a book by its cover," Misaki interjected, her perspective grounded. After all, Nawaki himself wasn't exactly a handsome man—at least not in the league of Kawakaze or Minato.
"Aren't you envious? Have you ever thought about when you will get married?"
Seeing the conversation gradually veering off track, Mito decided to address the matter directly. These clueless kids—none of them have a shred of sense! Do they still think they're toddlers or something?
