Necromancer Academy and the Genius Summoner-Chapter 447: Episode
As the first light of dawn broke through the darkness, a sound like a great ship’s horn echoed across the Parona Peninsula.
“What in the world?” Meirin gasped, running toward the sound.
Everyone’s gaze followed hers, turning toward the narrow channel between the peninsula and Parona Island.
’Swoooooooosh...’
A colossal swarm of sea creatures was surging through the strait.
“No way!” Dick’s jaw dropped. “It’s Deimos!”
“That’s impossible, you idiot! That monster isn’t supposed to be here until this afternoon!” Meirin shot back.
“It’s not Deimos!” Kamibarez cried, her eyes glistening with tears of joy. “It’s Simon!”
“What?!”
’Swoooooooooooooosh...’
At the head of the swarm, leading the countless sea creatures, was the skeletal form of the undead Deimos. And riding atop it, his arms crossed with an air of absolute command, was a black-haired boy.
“Simon! It’s Simon!” Meirin yelled.
“Simoooon!” Kamibarez cheered.
Simon gave his friends a brief, confident wave before his expression turned serious again. He took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with power as he issued an Absolute Command.
[Eliminate all Nagas in this area.]
Deimos, linked to his will, opened its massive jawbone and unleashed a powerful psychic wave. Every sea monster in its legion obeyed.
’Charge!’
The Naga swarm, moments from overrunning the beach, collided with the army of sea creatures.
’Boom-boom-boom-boom!’
Like a dam shattered by a tsunami, their formation crumbled instantly. Giant octopuses ensnared Nagas by the half-dozen in their tentacles, while fanged sea beasts devoured them whole. Among them were creatures of Danger Level 3 and 4, far more powerful than the average Level 2 Nagas, who stood no chance against such a force in the water.
The Nagas were torn apart, their bodies pierced and their bones snapped. And presiding over it all was Simon, reigning supreme from his skeletal throne.
No one could look away. The tide of battle had been reversed in a single, breathtaking moment.
“Whoa! Whoa! That’s insane! Whoaaaa!” Dick was speechless, capable only of stammering in amazement. “That bastard Simon! He really stole Deimos’s army?”
“You can do it, Simon!”
“Kill them all!”
Kamibarez and Meirin jumped up and down, cheering at the top of their lungs.
And behind them stood one more person.
“Ahh.”
The reporter, who had watched the spectacular scene with trembling hands, raised his magic camera. He had just enough mana for one last shot.
’This is the scoop of my life.’
’Tremble, tremble.’
With a shaking arm, he aimed the camera at Simon, perched atop Deimos.
’A Kizen student, and not just any—’
“WAY TO GO, OUR PRESIDEEEENT!!”
Hearing Meirin’s ecstatic shout, the reporter pressed the shutter.
’The combat debut of Kizen’s new Student Council President!’
The camera’s flash illuminated the scene, forever capturing the image of Simon commanding a legion of monsters from the back of his undead leviathan.
---
With Simon’s arrival, the battle was over. In a spectacular display of power, he had put the adult Deimos to sleep, seized control of its army, and single-handedly wiped out the Naga invasion. It was, in essence, the Simon Polentia show.
This victory was more than just a successful mission; it was the perfect start to his tenure as Student Council President. Rescuing an entire region from a monster invasion was a monumental achievement for his burgeoning career.
The only remaining concern had been the safety of those who hadn’t made it to the castle, but they all returned unharmed after the fighting ceased. They had hidden in basements, forests, and caves, but they all shared one common story: they had been helped by a ‘blond boy in a robe’.
As the sun fully rose over a sea cleared of Nagas, ships began to arrive at Parona, allowing the stranded tourists to leave safely. Simon’s group, utterly exhausted, decided to rest for a while before departing.
And so...
[Exclusive] Kizen’s New Student Council President, Simon Polentia, Saves Parona!
The first thing Simon saw upon waking was the rather embarrassing newspaper article the locals had given him.
“’Ugh!’”
Simon’s face burned. The photo showed him mounted on Deimos, arms crossed, wearing an expression of intense gravity. ’Was I really posing like that?’ He couldn’t believe it.
Beside him, Dick was already rolling on the floor, howling with laughter.
“Ahaha! Simon! You look so serious!” Kamibarez giggled, wiping tears from her eyes.
“Hey! You knew the reporter was there, didn’t you? You struck that pose on purpose!” Meirin teased, nudging his arm with her elbow.
Simon just covered his face with his hand.
“Pfft! Hah! Congratulations, Hero of Parona!” Dick roared, slapping him heartily on the back. “Ah! The only shame is that this is a local paper! If it were a major news outlet, this dignified pose of yours would’ve spread across the entire continent...”
“Please, just stop,” Simon groaned, on the verge of dying from sheer embarrassment.
Meirin patted his shoulder, half-soothing, half-mocking. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to get in the paper? This is all part of your resume, your reputation, your assets.”
"Of course, it’s not easy to get in the newspaper," Dick declared with a dramatic flair. "The pride of the Langerstien Grand Theater! The heavenly voice, Meirin Villenne!"
"Hey!" Meirin shrieked, her face flushing crimson as she lunged at him. Dick dodged with practiced ease.
"You shouldn’t run indoors!" Kamibarez chirped, trying to mediate their squabble.
’Aaaargh!’ Wait, wait!" Dick yelped, finally caught by the hair. "This isn’t the time for this! We have a serious problem!"
"Don’t try any of your tricks," Meirin growled, tightening her grip.
"I’m serious!" he insisted, glancing toward Simon. "The semester starts tomorrow! Did you all forget?"
The three of them froze. Meirin finally released her hold on his hair.
"We have to leave now to make it for the opening ceremony," Dick explained, "but all the regular ships have probably been canceled because of this whole mess."
"Oh, we’re in big trouble," Kamibarez murmured, her wings fluttering with anxiety.
Meirin turned to Simon. "Simon, can’t we just take your Deimos?"
"...My Deimos is a one-seater," Simon replied wearily. "And I’m too exhausted from today’s fight."
The four of them huddled together, trying to figure out how to get back to Lok Island.
A sharp rap came from the door.
"Coming!" Kamibarez called out, running to open it. A robed woman with an unfamiliar face stepped inside.
"Wh-Who are you?" Kamibarez stammered.
The woman lowered her hood and bowed politely. "Greetings, second-year students. I am a servant sent from Kizen."
She revealed the school crest, and a wave of relief washed over the four of them.
"The school has been briefed on your impressive performance," she said, tucking the crest away. "In recognition of your exceptional work, we have decided to install a teleportation magic circle in Parona for your comfortable return tomorrow."
"Perfect timing!" Dick cheered.
Simon finally broke into a relieved smile, and Meirin and Kamibarez high-fived.
"The teleportation technicians are already here, so it will be completed without issue by dawn," the servant assured them. "I came to tell you to rest easy."
"Thank you!" they chorused.
"Ah, and one more thing." She offered a slight smile and gestured outside. "This is a personal suggestion, but if you go to Whale’s Hill right now, you’ll witness a magnificent view."
Their eyes widened. At her words, they scrambled for their shoes and bolted out the door.
"Everyone, run!" Dick yelled.
"Dick, wait for me!" Kamibarez called.
"Hey! You’re wearing my shoes, you dummy!" Meirin shouted after him.
And so, the four of them sprinted through the jet-black night until they reached the crest of Whale’s Hill.
Their eyes widened in awe.
’Woooow!’
Against the backdrop of the vast, moonlit sea, countless marine creatures swam in a dazzling ballet. As if exchanging signals, schools of fish and pods of marine monsters leaped from the surface in unison, creating a breathtaking spectacle that left them speechless. They couldn’t tear their eyes away.
"Simon! Everyone! The view is better over here!" Kamibarez called out.
With all the tourists gone, they had the entire viewpoint—a sight that appeared only once every two years—completely to themselves. They settled comfortably onto the wide-open ground, their faces lit with brilliant smiles.
"The ruler has finally arrived!" Dick announced dramatically.
A sound like a great ship’s horn echoed across the water. The highlight of the festival, the true Deimos, began to pass through the sea. It hadn’t fully revealed itself, but the sight of its massive, pitch-black shadow gliding beneath the waves, with only its blowhole breaking the surface, was enough to overwhelm any onlooker.
"It’s huge!" Meirin exclaimed, her eyes wide. "It could give Kizen’s Netherwhale a run for its money!"
"It’s incredible!" Kamibarez gasped.
While the others were stunned by its sheer size, Simon, who had faced it in the depths, remained relatively calm.
’Still, it’s on a completely different scale from the one I was controlling.’
The marine monsters his undead Deimos had commanded were now returning to their original master. Just then, a geyser of water erupted from the whale’s blowhole, shooting an unbelievable distance. It arced through the night sky before raining down precisely where Simon and his friends were sitting.
’Aargh!’ What the—?" Dick sputtered.
’Kyaaaaaaah!’ Meirin shrieked.
Just as the four of them were sent scrambling by the sudden downpour, a deafening boom shook the air. This time, the Deimos breached the surface, its colossal body soaring into the sky.
Everyone’s jaw dropped. As the creature hung suspended against the stars, its massive eye rolled, fixing its gaze on Simon.
Simon met its stare and offered a small smile. "I’m glad you seem to be in a good mood."
The Deimos plunged back into the sea, the impact churning the ocean and sending a colossal wave into the air. A great, salty rain fell upon the peninsula, drenching their school uniforms.
’Ugh,’ how annoying! We’re soaked!" Meirin grumbled, though a wide grin betrayed her words.
’Ahaha,’ Simon," Kamibarez giggled. "You look like a drowned rat."
"You’re one to talk, Kami," he retorted with a laugh.
Laughter erupted from the four of them, loud and unrestrained. Though their clothes were soaked, they couldn’t stop. It wasn’t particularly funny, but once they started, the joy was infectious.
Before them, the enchanting spectacle of the passing Deimos unfolded. A refreshing, salty rain fell from the sky, and beside him, his friends were laughing like drowned rats.
Everything about this moment was perfect.
"Alright, the semester finally starts tomorrow!" an excited Dick declared, spreading his arms wide. "We’ve gotta do our cheer before we go!"
"A cheer?" Meirin asked.
"What’s that?" Kamibarez added.
"What do you think?" Dick grinned, then shouted with gusto, "To Simon’s Kizen 330th Student Council! Let’s give it our all this year!"
The other three smiled and raised their voices in unison.
"Let’s do it!"
As if in celebration, a final plume of water shot up from the Deimos’s blowhole. A beautiful, seven-colored rainbow painted the night sky.
Simon watched the scene, a gentle smile on his face.
’The semester is finally starting.’
