Necromancer: I Am A Disaster-Chapter 664: The Oath Was Too Modest, The Goal Not Ambitious Enough
Lin Moyu was in no hurry. He had already put away the Thunderclap Tower’s outer tower.
Nearby, the Kunlun Snow Grass King and several mature stalks of Kunlun Snow Grass swayed gently.
Under normal circumstances, Meng Anwen would have noticed them immediately, but he was deep in thought, his awareness of the outside world greatly dulled.
Lin Moyu’s words had revealed far too much, enough to invite boundless speculation.
If, as he said, their world was nothing more than a lonely, insignificant island in a vast ocean, then what did that make him?
This was the collapse of a fundamental belief, and the impact was immense.
Lin Moyu knew this was something Meng Anwen had to process on his own. Only after understanding and accepting it would the shock fade.
After a long moment, Meng Anwen’s eyes suddenly sharpened. He asked in a low voice, “Then what does that make Transcendent God-level?”
Lin Moyu replied calmly, “From what I know, Transcendent God-level is the strongest within our world. But viewed from beyond the world… it’s hard to say.”
Meng Anwen murmured, “In the deep layer, I once saw another continent. Between the two lay a canyon, barely a hundred meters wide.”
“At the time, I was level 91. Together with Old Bai and Old Yan, no matter what we tried, we couldn’t cross it.”
“Later, Emperor Di told us it was called the Transcendent God Canyon, and that only Transcendent God-level could cross it.”
“That day, Old Bai and I swore we would reach Transcendent God-level.”
“Now it seems… Transcendent God-level isn’t even that great. Our oath was too modest—our goal not ambitious enough.”
Lin Moyu said, “The path must be walked step by step. If every step is steady, one can go far.”
Meng Anwen chuckled and looked at him with approval, “You’re right. As long as each step is firm, the end will reveal itself.”
“Whether inside this world or beyond it… if I am strong enough, what difference does it make?”
Meng Anwen’s aura shifted. The presence of a level 96 expert surged outward, faint strands of law force wrapping around him.
The composed, untamed Meng Anwen had returned.
He said, “Don’t tell Old Bai about this. That fellow doesn’t take things as well.”
Lin Moyu nodded, “I understand. Besides, once you become a half-step Transcendent God-level, you would’ve found out anyway. I’m just saying it a little early.”
Meng Anwen asked, “This all came from that lord, didn’t it?”
“Yes.”
Since Meng Anwen assumed it was Antares, Lin Moyu was happy to let him take the credit.
“Don’t mention this to anyone else.” Meng Anwen warned again, “Not a single word.”
“I won’t.” Lin Moyu replied.
Meng Anwen exhaled slowly, then let out a soft sound of surprise and flicked a finger, “Kunlun Snow Grass King?”
Lin Moyu nodded. “The Kunlun Great God gave it to me.”
The Kunlun Great God?
Meng Anwen was shocked yet again. A Great God was equivalent to a half-step Transcendent God-level—an existence of exalted stature.
Yet when he thought of Antares, the shock quickly faded.
If Lin Moyu could communicate with Antares, then a Great God no longer seemed so unreachable.
Meng Anwen realized he could no longer view Lin Moyu with ordinary standards.
The things this young man encountered had long surpassed his imagination.
Lin Moyu briefly explained his agreement with the Kunlun Great God, sharing only what was necessary and omitting the ancient great war entirely.
Meng Anwen’s focus returned to the Kunlun Snow Grass King. He never imagined such a miraculous treasure existed.
As for its effects, only careful testing would confirm them.
Lin Moyu said, “If we want to cultivate Kunlun Snow Grass in large quantities, we need a portable planting space.”
“Something like your Shenxia Tower. Teacher, do you know where such an item can be found?”
Without hesitation, Meng Anwen smiled, “I planned to tell you later, but the Demon Extermination Tower, one of the three great towers of the Shenxia Empire, fits your needs perfectly.”
“The Trial Tower, the Shenxia Tower, and the Demon Extermination Tower, the three great towers are all legendary-grade, each possessing its own internal space and unique function.”
“The Trial Tower creates infinite spaces for simulation and derivation.”
“The Shenxia Tower excels in teleportation and formation deployment.”
“The Demon Extermination Tower is purely offensive—the strongest in raw destructive power.”
“You’ve been inside the Thunderclap Tower, so you should’ve noticed this already. The three great towers were modeled after it. Yet their functions differ entirely, which is rather strange.”
Lin Moyu understood just how extraordinary the Thunderclap Tower was.
Replicating even a fraction of its traits was already a remarkable achievement.
“The Demon Extermination Tower is at Fortress No. 9.” Lin Moyu said.
Meng Anwen laughed, “Correct. Unfortunately, for hundreds of years, no one has gained its recognition. It remains there only due to the will of its former master.”
“Old Bai and I intended to take you there once you reached God-level to try your luck.”
“But your soul rank is already high enough. You can try now.”
Lin Moyu’s heart stirred, “If I take the Demon Extermination Tower, what will happen to Fortress No. 9?”
Meng Anwen replied disdainfully, “What about it? The human race is strong enough already. With or without the Demon Extermination Tower, it makes little difference. In fact, the tower hasn’t been deployed even once in the past 300 years.”
“Come. I will take you to claim it.”
With a sweep of his hand, the Shenxia Tower rose into the air, flooding the surroundings with brilliant light.
Meng Anwen flicked his fingers, releasing a strand of law force. Tens of thousands of formation runes responded instantly, flashing in unison as they assembled into a teleportation formation. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Meng Anwen had always been able to form formations with ease, but now the process seemed effortless, almost instinctive.
After reaching level 96, his mastery over law force had grown by leaps and bounds.
The formation activated the next instant, carrying Lin Moyu and Meng Anwen toward the Dimensional Battlefield.
As countless streaks of light rushed past, Lin Moyu recalled his first experience with a teleportation formation. Back then, the chaotic visuals had left him nauseated.
Now, he found the sight strangely beautiful. A faint sense of nostalgia washed over him as he reflected on how far he had come.
Less than two minutes later, they appeared outside Fortress No. 9.
The area was under heavy guard. Ordinary people were strictly forbidden from approaching.
Aside from the garrison stationed at the fortress, entry required a minimum rank of six-star colonel.
Within the fortress, even the weakest individuals were top-level class users who had completed their third awakening.
As the closest location to an Abyss exit, Fortress No. 9 faced the most numerous and the highest-level Demons. It was the Shenxia Empire’s foremost line of defense.
Anyone below level 70 who ventured here and encountered Demons would simply be delivering themselves as free kills.
Lin Moyu fastened his military badge, and the two flew straight toward the fortress.
The defensive formation of Fortress No. 9 remained active year-round.
As they approached, the guards reacted immediately.
Two beams of light shot from the formation and swept over them. Their military badges responded at once, glowing brightly.
Both were five-star godly generals, their badges radiating a noble purple light.
The formation’s glow shifted to the same hue, resonating in acknowledgment.
Moments later, a bell rang out within the fortress. A towering pillar of purple light shot into the sky, accompanied by five clear tolls.
Purple signified a godly general; five tols denoted the five-star rank.
The arrival of a five-star godly general instantly alerted the fortress’s highest authorities.
At present, five-star godly general was the highest military rank of the human race.
Passing through the formation without hindrance, Meng Anwen spoke calmly, “The ancestors who built these fortresses established the military ranking system.”
“Each rank carries corresponding authority and privileges.”
“You’re now a five-star godly general. Though you hold no specific administrative post, in terms of status, you answer to no one.”
Lin Moyu understood the implication: he was being told not to be overly deferential. He could act forcefully if needed.
Still, he knew status alone was meaningless without strength to support it.
In the past, he had held comparable standing to God-level powerhouses, yet lacked the raw power to match.
If conflict truly arose, status would offer little protection.
From within the fortress, Wang Lin, Wei Cang, and Xia Shize flew out together.
Fortress No. 9 was their jurisdiction, along with Ye Hao.
When Wang Lin saw Meng Anwen, a flicker of resentment passed through his eyes. The two belonged to opposing factions and had never been on good terms.
Then Wang Lin’s gaze shifted to Lin Moyu, and something seemed to click. A deeper hostility surfaced.
Despite this, he maintained a polite façade. Forcing a stiff smile, he said, “Lord Anwen, Godly General Lin, please forgive our lack of preparation. To what do we owe the honor of your visit?”
