Chapter 210: Chapter 210: In the Future, Florence Lynch Will Take Over

He couldn’t bring himself to do anything before she turned eighteen.

So fortunately, at that time, she wasn’t at the affiliated school.

She caught the implicit meaning in Declan’s words.

Poppy Hale blushed.

This man, why is his mind always on that sort of thing!

But indeed, in high school, many students couldn’t help but engage in romance and secretly experience forbidden fruits.

Declan Hawthorne chuckled.

He held Poppy Hale’s hand and entered the house.

"And besides, when you were in high school, you were probably even noisier than when you were in college. If we were together then, we would have needed to go abroad."

Poppy Hale also laughed along.

Declan Hawthorne was a top student, ranking first overall when he was at the affiliated school. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Poppy Hale was in Narin, relying on her smarts. Connor Lynch didn’t demand much of her, so she studied one day and played the next, eventually going on to study art.

But she was a test-taker; during major exams, she performed well enough to just meet the minimum score required for Arvum University’s art program that year.

Truth Hale poked his head out, seeing them speaking in the entryway, not going in.

This young couple, I wonder where they find so much to talk about.

Truth Hale smiled, "What are you talking about? Come eat dinner, we saved some for you. Tonight, we’re having big hairy crabs."

"We were talking about whether Poppy was noisy in high school."

Truth Hale also reminisced, "Poppy, during high school, there were boys calling the house every day saying they wanted to go out with her. Oh dear, it scared her dad! Fortunately, this girl was slow to catch on; she just thought about what to eat every day."

Declan Hawthorne went to the kitchen to grab some dishes and glanced back to see Poppy Hale raise an eyebrow at him after washing her hands.

Her eyes and brows all gleamed with pride.

As if to say, you see how popular I am?

In front of Truth Hale, Declan couldn’t say anything, so he just raised an eyebrow and gave her an intense look.

It made Poppy Hale feel restless inside.

Or perhaps she should go to the office for overtime tonight?

Nowadays, the big crabs are full of rich roe, each bite flavorful and savory.

Declan Hawthorne rolled up his sleeves, disassembled a crab, and scooped out all the meat, placing it in front of Poppy Hale.

Poppy Hale accepted it cheerfully, waiting to eat.

Truth Hale observed and couldn’t help but comment on her.

"Why don’t you give it a try yourself? Do you always rely on Young Hawthorne to take care of you?"

Poppy Hale took a piece of stir-fried beef with chili, offered it to Declan Hawthorne, and watched him take a bite before speaking to Truth Hale, "Is that okay now?"

Truth Hale and Poppy Hale bickered easily after spending much time together.

Previously, when Truth Hale’s health was poor, things were fine, but lately, they seem to be slipping back into their old ways, where the mother-daughter duo would snap at each other.

Truth Hale held herself back, keeping her emotions in check.

Simply stood up, "I’ll head over to the main building to keep Florence company. You two should rest."

Even though Declan Hawthorne and Poppy Hale had moved out, Truth Hale was shuttling between the two places.

Hugo Hawthorne and Jackie Barrett were reluctant to let Florence leave, so they stayed at the main building.

Originally, they planned to move to the city within a few days, but earlier that morning, Poppy Hale received a call saying the formaldehyde tests at the house were somewhat inadequate.

So, the move was postponed.

And now that they had moved out, it was much more comfortable.

Declan Hawthorne spoke up, "My mom contacted a few childcare teams; they’re coming over in a few days for you to assess. Choose a suitable one to look after Florence."

"My mom’s idea is that since we both work, Florence can stay at the main building during the day and come here at night to live with us."

Jackie Barrett, despite not wanting to let Florence go, didn’t want her to be apart from her parents for too long.

Once the team is settled, Florence can be brought back.

Poppy Hale nodded, "Mom’s arrangements are excellent; I have no objections. But Florence is only three years old—is it a bit early to set up a team now?"

Declan Hawthorne didn’t think it was early.

"I’m thinking of seeing if she can take over my role in the future."

Declan’s attitude projected that he was planning to groom Florence as his successor.

Poppy Hale felt a bit surprised at first, but upon further thought, as long as Florence was willing, it wouldn’t be too tough for her.

After dinner, Declan Hawthorne received a call from Old Master Hawthorne.

The house only had the couple and some servants packing things, so Declan wasn’t secretive and put the call on speaker.

"Declan, Ronan has encountered some issues over there; could you fly over to take a look?"

"Not going."

"...What did you say?"

Declan Hawthorne was unwavering, showing no intention of moving, "Grandpa, these are the issues that any member of the Hawthorne Family might face. I’ve encountered my share of troubles; I didn’t seek you and my dad out because I thought I shouldn’t. I believe in Ronan. If I can solve problems, so can he."

There was a moment of silence on Old Master Hawthorne’s side.

"You’re the eldest; it’s right to support your younger brother."

"Grandpa, how about you personally fly over? That would really be supporting Ronan. Should I book a ticket for you?"

Old Master Hawthorne was furious.

He immediately hung up the phone.

The servants in the house didn’t dare utter a word.

Each one walked past Declan Hawthorne and Poppy Hale with their heads down.

Poppy Hale looked at Declan Hawthorne, "What if something really happened with the fourth one?"

"Zachary is in Vessia; why doesn’t Grandpa go to him?"

True.

After all, Zachary was Ronan’s true brother, yet he wasn’t approached, and Declan was tasked instead—it was clear Old Master Hawthorne wasn’t being truthful.

It couldn’t be something wrong with Ronan; instead, it probably involved Miles Hawthorne, causing a situation that needed Declan to fly over and fix.

Old Master Hawthorne wasn’t clarifying things.

He just wanted Declan to go without comprehending the situation, only to face the mess when he arrived.

Poppy Hale felt a subtle annoyance within.

Old Master Hawthorne seemed to have never shown any care for Declan Hawthorne, considering him the family pillar, naturally burdened with everything.

Poppy Hale picked up another portion of food for him.

Declan Hawthorne glanced down, chewed the food, looking deeply at her.

"Honey, I’m already full."

"Eat a bit more; maybe you’ll still grow."

Declan paused in his tone, "Honey, eating oysters really does boost the body."

Poppy Hale realized she just gave him a bite of oysters.

Her heart brims with a sense of foreboding.

Poppy Hale threw her chopsticks down, intending to dash upstairs.

Only to be caught from behind by the man, who hoisted her up and strode upstairs.

Poppy Hale pushed against his chest, "I want to take a shower!"

"Together. Or after it’s done. Just in case any man calls you, you’ll still have the energy to answer."

A hint of jealousy wafted.

Anyone would think many men were actually seeking her out now.

Poppy Hale herself also has no idea; the calls were all handled by Truth Hale.

Just as they entered the bathroom, Declan hadn’t turned the shower on when the maid’s voice came from the door.

"Sir, Old Master called you."

"Oh, tell him to call back in two hours."

The maid duly departed.

Poppy Hale nudged Declan, "How about answering the call? Or let Old Master wait for half an hour?"

Declan’s expression visibly darkened.

He bit on the inside of his cheek, looking at Poppy Hale.

"Half an hour, is that how little you think of your man?"
