Netori Harem: New life as a hunter and gatherer-Chapter 38: Rewards
"Mm..." Kyle mumbled in his sleep as he felt something rocking him.
He opened his eyes and found his mother standing there with a hesitant look.
Without thinking, he pulled her into his arms and caged her in a tight embrace.
"Ah—" Monica was taken aback by the sudden hug, but she didn’t resist.
She felt comfortable and warm... he could keep holding her like this for the rest of his life.
Monica didn’t mind being held by her son, but there was a reason she had come to wake him up.
"Son, someone came to meet you."
Luke hummed, "Who?" His voice was slightly hoarse, a sign that he wasn’t fully awake. It was understandable, given he had been awake the entire night and had even gotten involved in a battle.
However, if the matter hadn’t been urgent, she wouldn’t have come to wake him.
"It’s the Chief’s messenger."
Luke slowly opened his eyes and let out a sigh. "Are they outside?"
Monica nodded. "They’ve been waiting for some time now. I told them to come back later or tell me what it was about, but that man insisted on speaking with you."
Luke exhaled slowly before mumbling, "Understood. Will you make me something to eat? I’m very hungry." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Monica smiled brightly. "Already have. You just go and listen to what he has to say while I serve the food." She kissed his cheek before getting off the bed.
Luke slowly rose from the bed and rolled his shoulder.
Monica gasped when she heard a loud pop, prompting her to ask, "W-What... are you okay?"
Luke chuckled and told her, "It’s okay, Mom. My body is just a little tired." His eyes narrowed, a grin lifting the edges of his lips, "But not that much to leave you unsatisfied tonight."
Monica’s cheeks turned red as she looked at him like a lamb caught by a hunter. She glanced around, her neck turned red before mumbling, "I-I should-"
Before she could walk away, Luke pulled her back towards him, his arms wrapped under her breasts as he whispered in her ear, "We had a promise, tonight. I will wait for the reward, Mother." He bit her ear playfully, making her shudder. Her lower lips began to water in anticipation, her body already aching for the heat she experienced last night.
Luke kissed her neck once before stepping out of the room.
He adjusted his pants to hide his slightly rising boner and approached the living area where he found his father and sister-in-law.
Dalia glanced at him from head to toe but didn’t say anything.
Gustav, however, was smiling from ear to ear as he approached his son and grabbed both his hands. "Son... my dear Luke." He pulled him into a hug, his voice filled with pride.
Luke chuckled as he patted the old man’s back. "Hold your praises for later and let me see what the fuss is about."
Gustav nodded. "Yes, the messenger has been waiting for quite some time now."
Luke hummed before asking, "Where are the others?"
Gustav sighed. "Well... Laila and Caleb had a fight. Caleb left, and Laila is in her room. Lex has gone out for a hunt."
Luke hummed in surprise. A fight?
He didn’t dwell on it for long and glanced at Dalia.
The woman looked stunning early in the morning. Her glossy hair fell over her shoulder, and having just come out of the bath, she carried a charm he could barely resist.
He murmured as he passed by her, "Wait for me in your room."
Dalia stiffened at those words and glanced at Gustav once but didn’t say anything.
Luke then walked out of the house, followed by Gustav.
Outside, a man stood beside a horse. He was around six feet tall with broad shoulders, thick arms, and a rugged, masculine face. He looked like someone who could manhandle his foes and claw their face apart without hesitation.
The first thought that came to Luke’s mind upon seeing the man was,
’Appraise him.’

Luke was quite impressed. This man was almost twice as strong as him.
He truly was a warrior who served the Chief directly.
His defense and speed were especially staggering.
As Luke approached, the messenger spoke, "The Chief has asked for your presence this evening. He wishes to reward the warrior who fought with his life on the line to protect the Chief’s mate and his daughter."
Luke scratched the back of his head and asked, "Do I really have to come? I’m kind of tired..."
Gustav’s eyes widened as he hurriedly said, "He will be there! Please rest assured, haha..."
Luke groaned but didn’t argue further. Well, he could take a few days off. Tonight he was surely going to receive a good reward from Gary and hopefully from the Chief as well.
The messenger nodded before taking his leave.
Gustav turned to his son and said, "Luke... I know I shouldn’t have spoken earlier, but son, this is your best chance to form a good relationship with the Chief. Imagine if you start working for him, all the rewards you could gain."
Luke shook his head. "I have no intention of working for anyone. As a hunter, I can earn much more than what they could offer."
Gustav wanted to say more, but Luke ended the conversation. "I’m quite hungry, so let’s talk later."
Gustav instantly nodded. "Yes, yes. You must be starving. You had a long night yesterday."
Luke nodded before taking out a pouch from his inventory. "By the way, father... I heard you were having a hard time managing by yourself at night?"
Gustav’s eyes brightened at the familiar clink of toras as he said, "Well... I do have trouble fetching water and such... but... but I can still manage without your mother."
Luke chuckled. He placed the pouch in Gustav’s hand and said, "Good, then. I’ll keep her by my side."
