New Eden: Live to Play, Play to Live-Chapter 1122: Three-Way Puppet Show
The sudden shift in power and speed from Alexander took the man by surprise. Moments ago, they had been on an almost equal footing, Cheng Weilong only slightly overpowering him on speed alone.
But now?
Not only was the white wolf faster than him, but he was also powerful enough to stop his dashes with a casual punch and kick him away fast enough that he couldn't react.
The situation had changed too fast for him to adjust completely, and now, with an additional threat on the horizon, he couldn't focus too much on his fight against his opponent.
"Where are the other enforcers?!" he shouted over the open line with his officers.
The ranged attacks from earlier had been from his allies, and right now, for some unknown reason to him, there were no new incoming attacks to back him up.
A voice came in on the line, sounding out of breath.
"Sir! Multiple assailants came at us from nowhere, and we are trying to fend them off before assisting you. We are outnumbered three to one, and the enemies are all awakened!"
He could hear the clash of blades and explosions of attacks hitting the ground in the distance, both over the line and with his own ears.
But he hadn't thought they would outnumber his men. Not without them knowing before the attack. This smelled of a third party, and he was not happy about it.
"Get rid of them. Fast!" he barked.
But he was unaware of one thing. These assailants weren't just fighting his men.
Kujaku had already connected back up with Kary over the phone, and she was fuming.
"Your idiot has put his phone on silent! Someone needs to tell him that there is a new foe attacking us. The NFS are back!" she yelled in Kary's ears.
Kary frowned. It was one secret society after another lately, and she would have never guessed any of them were this persistent or willing to come to light.
They were attacking them in broad daylight, for crying out loud.
Kujaku's men were now locked in a three-way battle with the Chinese enforcers and enhanced humans from the NFS, making this extraction even more arduous than it had already been.
Kujaku could already tell the casualties within her organization would be hard to recover from. She knew her people wouldn't mind dying for her goals, but it still pained her that she had to lose loyal allies and friends to a situation that could have been averted easily.
She needed to focus now on manoeuvring her men to force battles between the NFS and the enforcers, lest she lose everyone in an attempt to extricate Alex from his battle.
Far from the hectic battle, sitting comfortably on a lounge-style sofa, the leader of this NFS operation watched the battle via one of his spy satellites, a grin on his lips. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"The syndicate will have no choice but to let us sit at the table if we beat both the enforcer's new frontman and the rogue awakened Alexander Leduc," he smirked, swirling a glass of red wine in his left hand.
"Sir," a woman dressed completely in black called out to him from a few meters in front, as she tapped frantically at her keyboard.
"Hmm?"
"We have both the enforcers and this shadow organization locked down for now, but it seems they are trying to steer us into fighting the enforcers. What are your orders?"
The grin on Jonas Van Helsing's lips grew wider.
"Let them. We can dance their dance for now. I only want to deal with Alexander Leduc and Cheng Weilong. The others are only a sideshow," he replied nonchalantly.
"Yes, sir!" she barked, relaying the order to the NFS agents.
Jonas' goal was not these ninjas or even the Chinese enforcers. He could care less if they killed each other, or some of his men.
Everyone was disposable to him.
"Christoph. Are you ready?" he asked, holding a button on his right armrest.
"Yes, father," a young male's voice chirped into his ear.
The voice sounded joyful, but it lacked the genuine emotion needed to be believable.
It only made his playfulness eerie, making Jonas shiver slightly.
"Good. Once they seem locked in a stalemate, I want you to rush in and kill both of them quickly. After that, kill anyone on the battlefield who looks like a threat. Leave no witnesses," he said coldly.
"Everyone? What about our men?" the voice asked, this time with a hint of excitement to it.
"Everyone."
"Hi hi! Gladly, father," the childish voice giggled, this time with genuine glee.
Letting go of the button, Jonas shook his head lightly.
"We'll need to curb his bloodlust a bit before he's fully ready for deployment, but it can wait," he mumbled to himself.
'These people are only numbers on a sheet anyway,' he thought to himself, looking at the ones in the command room, and then glancing at the gun hidden in the left armrest.
'They can't be allowed to live once they've seen what we made, regardless,' he mentally added, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.
Back on the battlefield, Alex was still exchanging blows with Cheng Weilong, the battle a lot more in his favour. The problem was that his mana was quickly draining, and he didn't know how long he could stay in this form.
And even though he was noticeably stronger than his opponent, Cheng Weilong was only taking flesh wounds at worst. The man's experience in combat was head and shoulders above his own.
Alex could tell the man had been fighting his entire life, be it in a game or in real life. Only an extreme power gap would overwhelm an opponent like this.
Sadly, Alex couldn't use all his tricks, or the entire battlefield would turn into a death zone, and not just for his enemies. The risk of friendly fire was way too high for him to go full power.
As he clashed with Weilong once more, this time both of them stopping to try to push the other back, a chill ran down his spine, and by the widening eyes of Cheng Weilong, he could tell the man felt it too.
An incredible bloodlust directed toward them, and rushing in at blazing speeds.
Pushing off of each other with a silent accord, they barely dodged what looked like a bloody whirlwind as it sliced through everything in its way, zooming past them and scratching them both just under their necks.
A sonic boom erupted after it passed, both men locking their eyes on the now stopped whirlwind, which had the figure of a young boy armoured in a full black suit.
A voice crept through some small speakers on its helmet, sounding disappointed.
"Aww… I missed."
The figure raised its hand to its head, a small gap opening in the helmet, as it licked the trickle of blood on its clawed gloves.
"Mmm!" it quivered in delight, a blush appearing on what little part of its cheeks they could see.
"This taste! Yes, only the strong taste so good. Please, let me bleed you dry!" the boy pleaded, putting his arms behind his back cutely.
"How about no?" Alex replied, his face a mask of disgust.
"What he said," Cheng Weilong added, pointing at Alexander.
The smile immediately disappeared from the boy's lips as the helmet closed back up again.
"Fine, then! I just won't leave you a choice, you blood bags!" he shouted angrily, raising his claws before him and bolting forward.
"Die!"
