New World, New Life: I Became A Bigshot In The Ancient World-Chapter 199: NOX
Chapter 199: NOX
The children left the parlour, the door closing behind them.
They left the palace towards the stables.
Even before Ivan reached, Shadowfax had already began making his way towards him.
He lowered his head and rubbed his head on Ivan’s neck.
"Shadow," Ivan reached out to stroke his fine mane. "I want to introduce you to someone."
’Who?’ Shadowfax asked curiously, raising his head to look at the people with his human.
On seeing Aristia looking at him, he turned his face away with a huff.
[What a bad daemon, keeping a grudge even now.] Aristia rolled her eyes.
Shadowfax’s gaze left Aristia, moving to look at the daemon in her arms.
’Is that the one you want to introduce me to?’ Shadowfax asked Ivan.
Ivan followed his gaze and nodded, looking back at him.
’Yes. She’s Tia’s daemon.’
Shadowfax raised his left foot in surprise.
This little girl had a daemon?
He looked at Millie, meeting her eyes.
Shadowfax was stunned for a moment.
’Hmm...’ His eyes narrowed. In the moment he had exchanged eye contact, a feeling enveloped him and he felt like bowing.
He looked at Millie again, but the feeling had disappeared.
’Did I imagine it?’
’Hm?’ Ivan asked, looking at his daemon in confusion. ’What’s wrong? Imagine what?’
Ivan met his gaze and shook his head. ’Nothing.’
Ivan narrowed his eyes but didn’t press.
"Now that Tia has a daemon, I want you to form a link with Millie." Ivan said to the hearing of the others.
’Okay,’ Shadowfax replied, looking back at Millie.
The two’s eyes met and Aristia saw a single thin thread form between then, one coming from Millie and the other from Shadowfax, joining in the middle.
These threads weren’t like the one she had seen in the white space between herself and Millie.
Unlike those threads that were a purplish color, these threads were just black.
It was probably because these were just the threads forming a communication link between the daemons.
But she looked around. None of her cousin looked like they saw the threads. They just kept looking between the two daemons but not at the space between them.
Aristia blinked and the threads had disappeared.
[Huh?]
Was it her imagination? But why hadn’t anyone else seen it?
Before she could think too deeply, a voice echoed in her mind.
’Tia, it’s me.’
The stable was silent.
Aristia turned to Ivan.
’It’s you,’ she said stupidly, feeling a bit stunned.
Ivan smiled, ruffling her hair. ’Now we can talk anytime. Just like I do with father and grandfather. But I haven’t formed a link with uncle’s daemon.’
Aristia remembered that she hadn’t yet seen Fedor’s and Melvin’s daemons.
"Are you both communicating now?" Alaric asked.
They nodded.
Alaric clapped excitedly. "Wow! Wow!" He kept saying.
Aristia chuckled.
She turned to Beatrix and Serina. The two had an expression of wonder on their face, probably wondering what it was like to communicate like that.
"Oh, can Millie turn into a horse?" Ivan asked curiously.
"Um, I don’t know." Aristia shook her head.
They turned to Millie, but Millie didn’t show any signs of wanting to respond.
The children turned away.
Shadowfax raised a question to Ivan.
’Turn into?’
’Tia’s daemon can turn into a fox, a cat and a bird.’ Ivan replied.
Shadowfax’s pupils dilated in shock, his gaze on Millie turning even more complex.
Just at that moment, a servant walked in.
"Princes and Princesses, it is time for lunch. Please, return to the palace."
The children had to return inside.
Leaving Shadowfax behind, they turned back to the palace.
They arrived at the dining table where the adults were already sitting.
Aristia put Millie down.
The servants had already been ordered to prepare food for Millie.
The maid respectfully placed the plate on the floor. This was the third princess’s beloved pet and must be treated with respect!
The servants knew that the third princess was no longer overbearing, but who could tell if she wouldn’t react if they acted wrongly? They didn’t want to take any chances.
But the maid couldn’t help glancing at the animal, especially that silver-gray fur and purple eyes.
What rare features the princess’s animal had.
The maid concluded that the animal was very unique, probably given as a gift by her parents. Her mind didn’t even brush upon the thought that it could be a daemon.
That was the slight advantage Aristia got. No matter who saw Millie, they would never be able to guess that she was a daemon just because Aristia was female.
They would all just assume that she had gotten a unique looking normal animal.
Aristia could take Millie anywhere without being exposed. It was just like hiding right under everyone’s noses.
After having lunch, it was time for Aristia and her family to leave the palace.
Fedor and the others bid them goodbye and they got on the carriage and left.
"Hah~" Aristia sighed softly in the carriage.
Remembering something, she turned to Wilson.
"Papa, when can Millie form a link with your daemon?" Aristia asked. "She’s already formed one with Shadowfax."
Ivan’s words had reminded her that she hadn’t formed a link with Wilson’s daemon.
Wilson hummed. "When we return."
Aristia nodded at his answer. It occured to her that she had never seen Wilson’s daemon, not to talk of forming a link.
[And I’ve been in this world for a year. Really. Is Papa’s daemon really so secluded?] Aristia was curious.
Minutes later, the carriage stopped at the Mansion.
The family got down and the Coachman rode off.
Wilson looked down at Aristia. "Come with me."
Aristia nodded.
"I want to come too," Alaric said with wide, excited eyes, already following behind.
"You three go ahead." Catherine waved.
Alaric hopped to Aristia and held her hand, the both of them following their father.
Behind them, Catherine turned and entered the mansion.
The sun was still high up in the sky, still the time of noon. The mansion was quiet this time of noon. The servants had mostly completed their tasks and the family had had lunch in the palace so there was no need to prepare lunch.
The father and child trio walked behind the mansion towards the back.
There was a part of the wall that had a space big enough for an adult to stand in.
Just lying there was a black timber wolf. It had jet-black fur and a large frame.
The daemon opened its eyes when they stopped in front of it, exposing a pair of glowing yellow eyes.
It gave off a dark, noble vibe—powerful, intelligent, and dangerous.
[Wow! This is his daemon?] Aristia thought, awed. [But it looks like his daemon usually stays here. Now that I think about it, I don’t usually come to this part of the mansion.]
The daemon looked at them silently. His gaze trailed down to Millie beside Aristia’s feet.
He looked back to Wilson with uninterested eyes.
’Its time to form a link with my daughter’s daemon.’ Wilson said.
’Okay,’ The daemon nodded, then turned to Millie after a glance at Aristia.
He knew about his human’s daughter’s daemon and that it could take on more than one form. This undoubtedly interested the daemon.
"Nox will form a link with Millie." Wilson said to Aristia.
"Okay, papa." Aristia nodded.
[So his daemon’s name is Nox.] Aristia thought.
During the process, Aristia didn’t see any threads again.
[Maybe what happened earlier was just an illusion. It’s possible that because of Millie and Shadowfax forming a link, I hallucinated.]
Aristia took this as the only reasonable explanation.
When Aristia heard Wilson’s voice in her head, she knew that it had succeeded.
"Now we can communicate anytime," Wilson smiled and patted her head.
His daughter having a daemon was indeed very beneficial.
They returned to the mansion, leaving Nox behind. freewebnøvel_com

Another month passed by quickly and soon, it was August. The summer was ending quickly and so was the year.
"Waah~ waaaah~!"
The cry of a baby echoed throughout the house.
"Shh, don’t cry. Don’t cry." The midwife held the baby and cooed.
The baby’s cry increased instead of decreasing.
"Congratulations, my lady. You have a boy!" The midwife smiled brightly, talking over the cries of the newborn.
"Let me hold him," the woman’s voice was weak from just giving birth.
The midwife carefully handed the baby to her.
The woman held the newborn, a small smile showing on her face. The baby stopped crying almost immediately, his small eyes staring in the direction of his mother’s face.
The midwife nodded to the new mother’s handmaiden.
The handmaiden opened the door. "My lord can come in and see her ladyship."
Vasily looked up at Ross standing with a relieved look on his face, a weak smile on her face.
"Our son," she said.
Ross smiled happily, taking the baby from Vasily and placing a gentle kiss on his wife’s forehead. He turned to his wife’s handmaiden.
"Inform the butler to send out letters. The Viscountess has birthed an heir."
