Chapter 178: Lightspawn

An explosion of golden light and sound lit up the lightless Void.

The explosion rippled through the dark matrix with harrowing force.

Morgan instinctively shaped the golden flames around him into a flaming replica of the blood Reaper blades.

With startling speed he zipped around the dark giant, slowly chipping at it’s tenebrous substance.

With every attack, more and more of the thralls fell away from Azaroth’s form dissolving into the dark Void World.

In Morgan’s eyes, everything was moving in slow motion.

Azaroth’s massive limbs swung through the air at a frenetic speed, moving towards him at a terrible speed.

Previously, he would have barely dodged the blows, but this time, Nerissa guided him.

The petite, luminous girl flew beside him, keeping pace with him.

Earlier, when she’d touched his forehead, she shared her senses with Jim.

Exploiting her connection with Azaroth, Morgan slowly learned the giant’s movements.

With Nerissa around and the thralls that were a part of the massive figure, Morgan moved flawlessly, seeing the creature’s movements even before it started moving.

His speed reached unprecedented heights.

Despite his advantage, he still wasn’t able to reach the creature’s weak spot.

Azaroth moved the grab’s enchantment, burying it deep within himself.

Even with the advantage of knowing what the titanic figure was going to do before it did, Azaroth’s bulky mass still acted as a shield blocking him from reaching the vulnerable nexus.

He continued, slowly chipping away at the giant’s movements, becoming faster and faster.

Unlike before, with every chip, small streams of darkness continuously seeped away from the giant.

But with a frightening determination, Azaroth’s tenebrous form held.

Occasionally, the streams of darkness quivered and then forcefully rejoined the main body.

Morgan stopped momentarily, hovering in the air.

He closed his eyes, reaching deep within himself. There, he felt his ever-present connection with the Void World and tugged on it with his newfound strength.

When his eyes flared open, they burned with a brilliant gold.

Answering his call, the tenebrous Spirit Void surged forward, pushing back the matrix.

With the Void World’s surge, the matrix quivered, rippling all around them, then surged forward.

The Void slowly began to absorb the matrix, cannibalizing the illusory space with a ravenous hunger.

While the Void World ddirectly attackedthe matrix and the thralls resisted Azaroth’s insidious influence, Morgan renewed his attack on the tenebrous giant, lunging through space at frenetic speed.

From time to time, Azaroth would seemingly slip up, revealing the glowing golden nexus for a short period of time.

Morgan smirked at the sinister creature’s antics, continuing his suicidal charges around it.

Time and again, the flaming blades in his hands sliced through the gigantic figure’s massive form, slicing through it with ease.

The golden flames cauterized the dark, gaping wounds, refusing to heal.

Every cut inflicted on Azaroth’s massive body refused to heal, the darkness emanating from it, drifting away into the lightless expanse and rest, absorbed by the tenebrous Void.

Morgan could feel his power slowly growing with every passing moment.

With a roar, he surged forward, ripping through more of the giant body, aiming for where its vitals should have been on a human body.

With every attack, Azaroth slowly diminished in size.

AS inevitably, the pulsating golden nexus came into view.

Morgan flew back, eyeing the golden nexus warily.

Then, with a thought, he burst forward.

Space rippled violently in his wake, and the darkness of the void surged around him, blending with the golden flames shrouding his bbodyy turning them into something darker, colder, and more obscure.

At the last minute, the massive creature shifted the nexus away, then with unnatural agility turned its massive bulk, lunging at his smaller figure satterrifying speed.

But Morgan had already seen through this.

With a slight twist, the trajectory of his body completely changed, turning into an upward spiral.

With a silent roar, he punched into the giant’s torso, delving into Azaroth’s massive figure.

A wave of voices crashed into him, draining his will, steadily sapping his strength, but in the next moment, Azaroth froze.

The dark giant trembled, straining against the invisible forever holding him and the nexus in place.

In the middle of its struggle, a small,, petite glowing figure appeared in front of it.

Nerissa quietly stared at the dark giant with a solemn expression.

Azaroth’s tenebrous eyes quivered, struggling to turn to her.

The giant’s eyes flickered with a unknown emotion.

Eventually, he whispered hatefully.

"You..."

Nerissa stared at the giant with a sad express, ion then eventually smiled faintly.

Azaroth renewed his struggles but failed to move.

The giant roare,d but his body remained frozen in place.

"What have you to me, lightspawn?"

The woman simply smiled, then vanished.

In that brief moment, thdeafeningng pressure on Morgan’s mind reduced.

" A chance..."

Without missing a bit, he brutally surged forward, ripping Azaroth’s dark substance with chilling ease.

A few moments later, he was standing in front of the pulsating nexus.

The golden nexus pulsated with an eerie energy.

From where he stood, Morgan could feel the waves of energy wash over him rhythmically.

The golden nexus quivered, straining to move.

"You’re done."

With a silent roar, he crossed his blades and then tore through it without a second thought.

The golden nexus imploded in itself in a burst of brilliant golden light, the space around it cracking then melting.

Morgan’s eyes widened, then narrowed.

A moment late, er, he moved, and just in the nick of time.

The space where the nexus had stood erupted in one giant explosion.

Morgan flew out of the giant’s chest with force akin to a ballista flung out of a giant slingshot.

Azaroth gasped, his mouth falling open in agony.

A wave of darkness surged around him, then violently exploded outward.

The matmatrix groaned and rippled, compressing in on itself.

A cacophony of screams exploded from within the giant’s bulky mass, the sound rippling through the space.

The chorus of voices quickly merged, becoming one massive roar.

The force of the scream hurled Morgan backwards, sending him flying into the distance.

Morgan tugged on the Void World.

The darkness surged around him, turning into inky black tentacles, a trick he’d learned from Azaroth.

Latching onto him, the massive tentacles reeled him in, shrouding him and shielding him from the unfolding chaos.

Outside, a massive tremor rolled through the ground, several jagged cracks spreading through the ground.

A haze of darkness flared out of the tenebrous walls, pulsating outwards.

The force pushed back the spectating youths several feet.

A luminous golden flame shrouded Morgan’s body, shielding him from the brunt of the violent phenomenon, his hand remaining stuck to the dark wall.

Azaroth’s massive body convulsed violently, shuddering several times.

The obsidian giant, released from the invisible hold, slowly fell to his knees. The golden nexu wearily stirred, the severed ends trying to reconnect themselves.

The golden flames around Morgan flared to life, moving with a life of their own.

The brilliant flames dove into the giant’s chest.

A thunderous tremor rolled through Azaroth’s body, an agonized roar escaping his mouth.

In the next moment, a golden white light exploded from within him.

Morgan gasped at the sight, reinforcing the makeshift shield around himself.

Azaroth’s body slowly began to dissipate, slowly dissolving into the darkness.

The matrix slowly came undone around him, giant cracks spreading through the dark space.

The dark tentacles around Morgan slowly receded, dissipating back into the Void World.

Morgan warily stared at the fallen giant, keeping his distance.

Azaroth slowly turned to him.

In the next moment, a deep laughter rolled through the cracked matrix.

Morgan froze, watching the giant intently.

The giant’s sinister voice rang out, echoing through the slowly crumbling expanse.

"Well done, Void Wielder."

Morgan friended quietly, staring at the giant’s dissipating form.

A wave of power surged from the giant, but, disappeared before it could reach him.

"You actually managed to defeat this...fragment of me."

Morgan’s eyes widened in shock.

" Fragment?!"

Azaroth laughed once more, the sound of his voice shaking the remaining part of the matrix. His sinister voice echoed through the dark space.

" You should see the look on your face. I must admit that I was quite surprised when I saw the lightspawn that you worked wi,t, but that doesn’t change the outcome. You still managed to hold your own."

The giant went silent, then, after a brief silence, spoke.

" I should probably reward you in some sort of way. It had been a while since I met a worthy for such as yourself."

In the next moment, a dark obsidian key burst forth, floating through the space.

" This is the key to the Sanctuary of the Damned." The giant laughed once more.

" Use it as you will."

With a life of its own, the intricate key flew forward and then burrowed into Morgan’s chest.

Morgan gasped, falling to his knees.

A wave of power exploded in his chest.

His hand burned with a fiery pain, the sensation travelling through his entire body.

Morgan, but he bit his lip, holding back a scream.

A dark mark slowly appeared on the palm of his hand, seeping into the skin with vivid clarity.

Morgan gasped, then turned to the almost completely faded giant.

Its voice rang out once more, this time from within him.

"Beware, Void world wielder, when next we meet, you won’t be so fortunate."
