Morgan silently stared at Anthony's smiling face.

He felt calm.

Eerily calm, considering he kept imagining different kinds of ways to murder the brat seated in front of him.

The youth seated in front of him was a pale, sickly-looking youth.

A small smile played on his lips, his eyes gleaming with dark amusement.

Anthony ran his hand through his hair, removing the small elastic band that tied it into a ponytail.

He coughed violently then leaned back with a sigh.

"Why are you doing this?" Morgan asked quietly.

" You're one of the Talented, a neural type from the look of things. Shouldn't we be working together to get out of this place alive?"

Anthony smiled, then chuckled, and after a while, he burst into laughter.

Morgan observed him expressionlessly, calmly wiping away a stream of blood from a cut above his eye on the sleeve of his tunic.

After he'd calmed down, Anthony smirked.

"Work with you lot?!" Anthony asked incredulously.

"Isn't that how we ended up here in the first place?" he sneered.

Amanda stirred weakly, struggling into a sitting position.

Anthony turned his gaze back to her.

" You're already awake."

Turning to Morgan, he grinned.

" Allow me to deal with a small disturbance.

His eyes glowed with an ethereal light.

Amanda groaned, clutching at her head in pain.

A tortured scream escaped her lips, the sound echoing through the empty city.

Morgan rose to his feet with a sigh.

" Stay down."

A force of crushing pressure crashed into him, bringing him to one knee.

Morgan gritted his teeth, craning his neck up.

His entire body ached, waves of pain radiating through him.

His eyes flickered to gold for a moment then reverted back to their original colour.

The burly boy grinned, his eyes glowing with a murderous azure colour.

"If you keep resisting, I just might have to kill you."

Amanda screamed, her voice taking on a frantic pitch.

" You've become a lot more feisty, haven't you, Amanda?" Anthony grunted.

Sweat gathered in his brow.

He coughed slightly then grinned.

" Frankly it's almost impressive."

His smile widened.

" But unfortunately for you, it's not good enough."

Amanda abruptly went silent, her eyes turning blank once more.

She stared blankly into space, drooling slightly

Sitting back down, Anthony chuckled wildly.

"Oops, I think I may have broken her."

Morgan's gaze turned to him.

Still on one knee, he resisted the crushing force.

Every joint in his body creaked painfully, screaming for release, for the pain to stop but Morgan ignored it.

" If you don't stop resisting, you really will die," the burly body on Anthony's right said.

Morgan could feel it.

The fear permeates the air.

The other Talented fell in line because they were genuinely afraid.

"You know," Morgan spoke quietly, shifting his gaze to Anthony.

His brown eyes were cold, flickering eerily to a golden colour then reverting back to normal.

"

I admired you Talented, and your cool powers. I genuinely thought it was amazing. And I thought to myself, why could the assassins and the Talented be at odds for so long...and I think I finally got my answer."

Morgan ignored the pain in his hands and calmly reached back to the sheath on his back.

Anthony smirked.

" No, you don't."

His eyes glowed a vivid green, boring into Morgan's eyes.

Morgan's hand hovered unsteadily near the hilt of his blades, trembling slightly.

In the darkness, of Morgan's mind, Anthony languidly moved around.

" Strange, what exactly am I looking at?"

Concentrating a bit, he probed the memories hidden within Morgan's mind.

Small beads of light appeared gently floating towards him.

The Talented grinned reaching out with his hand.

" There we go. Let's see what you've hidden here."

Morgan grunted, a shiver running through his entire body. His hand began trembling uncontrollably.

The first orb of light shimmered then expanded.

When the light dissipated, a single apartment came into view.

A young dark-haired boy quietly moved through the house, then stopped staring at the door to the apartment.

Anthony frowned.

" What a lonely childhood. An only child yes?"

A second orb of light shimmered, then rapidly expanded.

A green-eyed young woman now bustled around the apartment, smiling joyously with the boy.

The woman smiled radiantly, the smile illuminating the apartment.

She brought warmth and light to the memory.

" Ah, this must be your mother? You really love her, from what I can tell." Anthony asked with a grin.

"What's her name? "

The little boy stared defiantly at Anthony clenching his fists.

Anthony smirked, snapping his fingers.

A terrible pressure washed over the memory, distorting it.

" I asked you a question," Anthony said his eyes shining with a cruel light.

"What is her name?"

The young boy clutched his head, screaming in agony.

Morgan groaned, his entire body beginning to spasm.

"Anthony stop this," Cassius whispered, crawling forward.

Anthony laughed sarcastically.

" I asked you a question."

He snapped his fingers once more.

A second wave of pressure rippled through the memory. The small apartment trembled, small cracks appearing in the periphery of its boundaries.

The little boy clutched at his head then screamed falling to his knees

" Ah, it hurts... it hurts so much. "

Tears rolled down his face falling to the ground.

" What's her name?"

The little boy's screams grew louder echoing through the empty apartment.

Anthony laughed sadistically, his laughter overlapping with the kid's terrified screams in a strange crescendo of madness.

"That's enough," a cold voice said.

A profound change washed over the surroundings.

The light drained from the room,

the temperature plummeting instantly.

The cracks in the memory boundary grew more pronounced.

Dark trickles of dark sand slowly trickled through them, widening the gaps, then the memory burst.

Anthony took a step back, his eyes twitching slightly.

A slight from appeared on his face.

'What the hell is going on? Did I accidentally break your too?"

He pursed his lips, looking around.

'Well, this is certainly strange, this has never happened before."

The memory slowly broke apart then melted with an inky dark landscape.

An ominous rift surged into existence,

tearing into the fabric of the mindscape.

The rift grew then widened.

A cold, frigid wind blew from its dark depths, howling across the vast, dark plains and stirring the sand.

Then, an inky dark figure stepped out.

Anthony's eyes widened in surprise, his pupils constricting in fear.

" Who...what

are you?" Anthony asked, taking another step back.

White flames burned where it's wears should have been.

Behind it, two similar rifts pulsed into existence.

Two massive clawed hands grasped the sides of one of the rifts, forcing it open.

A massive horned demon stepped out of the rift,

the dark plain quaking in its wake.

The dark figure strode forward, walking past Anthony's frozen form.

Anthony tracked the creature with his eyes.

" Is it ignoring me?'

The dark figure knelt down in front of the sobbing child and gently patted the boy's head.

"It's ok. You're safe now. Everything is going to be fine."

To the Talented watching, Anthony suddenly fell to one knee with a startled yelp.

At the same time, Morgan's hand stopped trembling, then calmly reached for the blades on his back.

Back in the mindscape, the dark figure drew the child to its bosom then let out a frigid sigh.

The child's figure shattered exploding into several fragments of light that were absorbed into the tenebrous figure's form.

Anthony gasped taking a step back.

He closed his eyes, willing himself to leave the changing mindscape.

Slowly getting to his feet, Morgan turned to Anthony.

He cocked his head, piercing the Talented with a cold gaze.

"Going somewhere?" He asked coldly.

Anthony's eyes snapped open, gleaming with a madness within their depths.

A dark smile spread across his face.

"Well, that failed. From what I can tell, you're not quite right in the head. You're... a monster. So tell me..."

He walked up to the dark figure.

" What are you going to do now?" He asked, he asked with a s smug grin on his face.

Morgan stared at him for a few moments then casually flicked his hand.

Anthony leaned back to avoid the blow, just barely tracking it with his eyes.

In the next moment, the sharp cracking sound of bones echoed through the air.

Anthony flew back tumbling several times through the dark sandy plains.

Morgan slowly walked up to him and languidly reached out, grabbing him by the neck.

" I've seen your kind, Anthony. I can tell that you're the kind of person who genuinely doesn't care, not about your friends, if you have any, not about your subordinates.

Everything you do is for yourself."

Morrfan casually raised him up into the air.

"I need to understand something..." he continued.

Anthony's eyes abruptly flared with a fierce green light.

He screamed unleashing a deadly psionic attack.

"I'll crush you !"

The horned demon materialized next to Morgan, its gigantic clawed hand clamping down on Anthony's mouth.

Morgan chuckled,

the sound cold and devoid of emotion.

It echoed somberly through the starry abyss.

Anthony's eyes turned bloodshot, widening in terror.

The demon spoke.

" This power of yours..." it rasped, "is not only quite interesting but also profoundly delicious. "

Anthony screamed then in genuine horror.

Morgan smiled eerily, brilliant white flares leaking out of his abysmal maw.

His fiery eyes narrowed.

" Now, where was I?"
