Nightblade (Darkest night)-Chapter 191: Illusion
Anthony’s body was a bloody agonized mess riddled with holes. Every part of his body hurt, and to make matters worse, he couldn’t die.
Not unless the tenebrous demon willed it anyway.
The nightmarish dream shattered and he found himself back in the boundless starry abyss.
Anthony gasped rolling to his side and coughing violently.
The wounds on his body disappeared almost instantly, almost as if they’d never happened.
He sprang to his feet, then reeled back, gasping for breath.
An oppressive pressure washed over him forcing him to one knee. Anthony grabbed at his throat, choking from the overwhelming presence.
Kazarax grabbed at him shifting through his memories once more.
" Let’s have a look, shall we?"
Morgan reached, grabbing onto Anthony’s head.
" Sarenus, guard me."
Sarenus stepped forward, stretching out his hand.
A ball of immolating flames slowly condensed in his hand, then lengthened, stretching out into a long, glowing, luminescent blade.
He grinned darkly, brandishing the blade loosely, silently daring any of the Talented to step forward.
Emily stirred, her eyes snapping open.
She instinctively activated her ability, her eyes glowing with vivid emerald light.
A violent wave of ice propelled her into the air.
She abruptly came to a stop freezing the air around her to halt her momentum. She froze, staring at the sight in front of her in shocked silence.
All the Talented silently stared at her then turned back to the four figures at the centre of the crowd.
Morgan knelt with his eyes closed, his hands on Anthony’s head. Amanda’s unconscious form lay nearby at his side.
But her attention was immediately drawn to the dark figure standing in front of Morgan.
Her eyes widened slightly at the sheer amount of power radiating from the silent dark figure.
She silently floated down to the ground, coming with small bursts of ice, coming to a stop next to Lucian and Talia.
" You’re awake," Lucian muttered somberly.
" What happened?" Emily asked quietly, staring at the Talented.
" Morgan happened," Talia stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
The scion seemed completely in control of the situation.
Samantha joined them a few moments later.
Talia threw her a surprised look.
" Where were you?"
Samantha grinned.
" Observing the situation. I couldn’t just charge in after seeing how quickly the rest of you were overwhelmed. So I decided to wait and see. You know the rest."
Talia stared at her strangely.
" Are you really Samantha?"
Samantha frowned.
" What kind of question is that?"
Talia stared for a few moments then turned away
In the next second, she abruptly lunged forward faster than any of them could react.
In one fluid move, she grabbed the startled hand, lifting her into the air. Before anyone could move, Talia’s blade touched the Talented girl’s neck.
" Did you think we wouldn’t notice you?"
Lucian threw Talia a neutral glance, then turned back to Samañtha.
Emily took a step forward but Lucian quietly gestured for her to wait.
Samantha struggled violently against Talia’s iron grip, flailing powerlessly.
" Talia, what are you doing? Emily, help me."
Emily’s face scrunched up in confusion, torn between an impulse to move forward and Lucian’s silent command.
"Where’s the real Samantha?" Lucian asked calmly, walking forward.
He slowly unsheathed his twin Silviric blades, stopping in front of the struggling girl.
"I’m right here, dumbass, you’re all crazy!"
Samantha turned to Emily with pleading eyes.
"Em, please! Help me!"
Lucian let out a weary sigh.
" If you don’t come clean right now, you’re definitely going to regret it," he said quietly, brandishing his blades.
Sarenus spared the small group a curious look then promptly looked away.
In the next moment, Lucian’s blades moved faster than the eye could track, whizzing through the air with lethal force.
A wall of ice rose up in front of him intercepting the tenebrous blades.
Despite the ice, the blades continued forward cutting through it with relative ease and stopping just next to Samantha’s chest.
The block of ice fell to the ground sliced cleanly in half.
" Emily, you have to trust us," Lucian said calmly without turning around.
" Sammie, the real Sammie, is there right now. This person, you’re seeing here is a fraud."
Emily stared at her raised hand in shock.
She’d instinctively activated her ability when she’d detected Lucian’s killing intent.
’ Samantha’ pisses herself staring at Lucian in shock.
" You were really going to kill me?"
Lucian stared at her, his eyes boring into her own.
" Last chance, where is she? Just so you know, I could have cut you the first time. You’re alive because I want you alive."
The Talented shifted their eyes glowing through their masks.
Sarenus let out a low whistle.
" If any of you moves, you’ll actually die. Faster than you can take the first step."
The Talented gasped at his voice
Theory of how fast he’d caught up to Brant was still fresh in their minds.
A faint smile appeared on Lucian’s face, his eyes narrowing decisively.
Talia grinned, tightening her grip around the girl’s neck.
" Where’s our friend? Where’s Samantha?" she asked.
The brunette sobbed quietly, then in the next moment her sobbing turned to quiet giggling.
After a while, the talented girl began to laugh.
Emily frowned staring at her in disbelief.
In the next moment, ’Samantha’ started morphing, her features changing rapidly.
A moment later, Talia held a completely different girl in her grasp.
The change was so startling that even Lucian froze for a split second.
The girl winked at Emily her eyes glowing with a mesmerizing golden light.
Dark locks of black hair flowed down u to her waist.
Even the clothes she was wearing transformed taking on a completely different appearance.
She frowned, then pouted, turning to Talia.
" How did you know? How were you able to tell?"
Talia’s grip tightened around her neck.
" We’re the the one’s asking the questions. First, where Sammie?"
The girl choked her face turning an unhealthy shade of red.
" Wait, wait, she’s safe. Just asleep."
Talia frowned.
" You knocked her out?"
The girl grinned.
" Well, sort of."
