Nine Nether Dragon Emperor-Chapter 302: The Toad Really Gets to Eat Swan Meat!
"Our Ant Clan is doomed!"
The army ant leader’s heart was filled with utter despair. This Human Slave’s strength is absolutely terrifying! Otherwise, the City Lord wouldn’t have tucked his tail and run. I had thought I had an advantage, but they saw through my trump card at a glance. There was simply no way to win! How laughable. My kin are still lost in their delusions. Now, we’re completely screwed!
As expected, Zhongli Ruoruo’s bone-chilling voice rang out. "Are you looking to die?!"
"Heh, you..." an army ant started to jeer.
But with a single glance from Zhongli Ruoruo, its entire body froze in place.
"Don’t do anything! We were wrong! You can have the Cultivation Technique," the army ant leader hastily pleaded.
These are the only tribe members I have left, and both of these humans are terrifyingly powerful. If I anger them, the entire clan will likely be exterminated. As for the Cultivation Technique... first, we have already deciphered most of it. Second, it isn’t something the Human Race can cultivate anyway. What harm is there in giving it away? If the technique can guarantee the clan’s survival, it’s an incredible bargain.
This time, the entire Ant Clan was deathly silent. Even the slowest among them now realized something was terribly wrong. Some even had a sudden epiphany: their status here was only a sliver better than that of the Human Slaves. Before these two appeared, they *were* the slaves! Their earlier behavior stemmed from long-suppressed resentment finally finding a target for release; it wasn’t a reflection of their true nature at all.
The entire Ant Clan remained silent, like prisoners awaiting their sentences.
After what felt like an eternity, Ning Xuan finally spoke. "Let me see it."
I was never particularly interested in Cultivation Techniques. After all, no technique could possibly compare to the one I cultivate. However, the fact that this one could alter the cultivation habits of natives who have lived here for generations has piqued my interest. I know just how difficult it is to absorb Divine Crystal Energy in this place. If not for the heaven-defying power of my Chaos Ancestral Dragon Scripture, I wouldn’t have been able to do it either.
The army ant leader dared not be careless and immediately presented a scroll.
Zhongli Ruoruo stepped forward to receive it. After checking it for any problems, she handed it to Ning Xuan. As her strength gradually recovered, she carried the dignified air of the Saintess of the Yin Yang Sect. But whenever she faced Ning Xuan, her demeanor would instantly change, and she was wholeheartedly devoted to him.
Ning Xuan thanked her, then unrolled the scroll. He frowned after a brief glance.
The army ant leader, who had been watching Ning Xuan intently, breathed a sigh of relief, though its heart was still pounding with anxiety. Judging by the human’s expression, my guess was correct. The Cultivation Technique really is useless for the Human Race. But I’m terrified he’ll fly into a rage out of humiliation. Its mind raced as it scrambled to think of how to respond.
"Alright, I’ll take it. You can all go now," Ning Xuan said, waving them away as he put away the scroll.
"What?"
The entire Ant Clan was dumbfounded, especially their leader. What the hell? This guy doesn’t play by the book at all!
"What, not happy?" Zhongli Ruoruo asked, waving her small fist, her face like a sheet of ice.
"Happy! Extremely happy! We’ll leave right away!" The army ant leader immediately nodded and bowed, leading the Ant Clan away from the area.
Ning Xuan waved his hand, sending all the Divine Crystals into the Stele Forest, and decided to find a place to study the scroll. He had frowned not because the Cultivation Technique was unusable, but because it opened up a completely new path for him. The technique seemed completely illogical at first glance, riddled with flaws and loopholes. Many parts even contradicted existing theories of Martial Arts. Yet, when all these elements were combined, they were surprisingly harmonious.
This greatly piqued Ning Xuan’s interest. If I can fully comprehend this, I will undoubtedly reap unexpected rewards!
Zhongli Ruoruo, of course, had no objection to whatever Ning Xuan wanted to do.
「A day later.」
Inside the City Lord Manor, which was now deserted of beasts, Zhongli Ruoruo was still herself, but her eyes were a hundred times more enchanting than before. Even more peculiar, a long tail now swished behind her back.
"Ahem, stop playing around."
Across from her, Ning Xuan’s voice rang out, yet there was no one in sight.
"Giggle! My lord, even a genius is no match for you! In just one day, with only a scroll, you managed to forge a path that has never existed, allowing people to transform at will." She crouched down, her eyes full of playful admiration.
Opposite her, there was no Ning Xuan, only an incredibly ugly toad standing on its hind legs.
The toad wobbled and changed back into Ning Xuan. As he did, he inadvertently swatted Zhongli Ruoruo, who yelped and leaped back.
"Ahem, do you think I’m the Monkey King, capable of seventy-two transformations?!" Ning Xuan coughed, quickly changing the subject. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Zhongli Ruoruo fell for it. "Who’s the Monkey King?" she asked, puzzled.
"A ridiculously daring... Wait, someone’s here. No, some*thing* is coming!"
The words had barely left his lips when he transformed into a Ninja Turtle. Zhongli Ruoruo, in turn, instantly became a bewitching fox spirit, complete with five tails. I got the idea from Ning Xuan. The more exaggerated, the better!
No sooner had they completed their transformations than a group of bipedal creatures appeared.
"Don’t worry, I’ve checked. There’s definitely no one else here... Who are you?!" the leader of the group said confidently, stopping mid-sentence as he spotted Ning Xuan and Zhongli Ruoruo.
"We’re just a couple passing through," Zhongli Ruoruo said, taking the opportunity to cling to Ning Xuan’s arm. "We stayed the night and will be on our way."
The eyes of the bipedal creatures went wide. They were all stunned into silence.
After a long moment, one of them exclaimed, "Damn, so a toad really *can* eat swan meat!"
SMACK!
"He’s ugly, sure, but is he really a toad? Besides, the one next to him is obviously a vixen!" a companion corrected him irritably.
The first creature started to get angry, but then he saw the teasing glint in his companion’s eyes and understood. "Hahaha, my mistake, my mistake! Hey, she actually has five tails!"
With an overly bold gaze, the bipedal creature scanned Zhongli Ruoruo from head to toe. When he saw her tails, he couldn’t hide his surprise. The other creatures also stared with strange expressions.
"The Fox Clan venerates its tails. Your rank must be high, so why would you debase yourself like this!" one of them lamented with a pained look.
"Stop wasting words on them!" another creature interjected, shooting her a lecherous look and making no effort to hide its intentions. "A five-tailed member of the Fox Clan isn’t allowed to intermarry with other races! She must have run away! Brothers, looks like we’re in for a treat!"
The other creatures locked their gazes on Zhongli Ruoruo.
In Zhongli Ruoruo’s eyes, however, they didn’t even exist. She was looking at Ning Xuan, her own eyes filled with apology. I hadn’t expected my thoughtless action to cause such unnecessary trouble.
Ning Xuan patted her hand, signaling for her to let go.
Zhongli Ruoruo immediately complied.
The next moment, screams erupted.
