Chapter 6007 Brightmoon City

BOOM!

Long Chen’s attack struck a Sovereign Lord head-on, smashing him into the city below. The buildings around were instantly reduced to rubble.

Buried beneath the debris were the bodies of countless enemies. This was yet another human city overrun by other races.

When Long Chen arrived, he was met with sudden hostility. Without a word, they attacked him, and he didn’t bother with courtesy either. Of the four Sovereign Lords present, three had fallen to his blade. The last one tried to flee, only to be smashed into the city.

Long Chen tossed his corpse into the primal chaos space. By now, Long Chen had grown picky. Other than the Sovereign Lord’s corpses, he couldn’t even be bothered to pick up other bodies.

He wouldn’t even look at Sovereign sprout’s corpses unless they were well-preserved.

Judging from the way things were unfolding, the entire world would soon become a battlefield. Corpses at this level wouldn’t be in short supply for long.

Long Chen had forged his path by trampling over mountains of enemy corpses. Yet even then, he had never gone so far as to exterminate entire races or indiscriminately massacre sects and clans.

Now though, Long Chen had no choice but to be ruthless.

The world had descended into chaos, and the ten thousand races were once again fighting for dominance. If the human race remained divided—if everyone only looked out for themselves—then their downfall was inevitable. They would spiral into a bottomless abyss from which there would be no return.

The laws of the world had returned to a primordial state. The strong devoured the weak. If the human race wanted to survive, they had to bare their fangs. They had to show the world they were not prey.

Sadly, this simple truth was incomprehensible to many. Or perhaps they did understand yet still chose to do nothing. They simply waited for others to shed blood on their behalf, only to later join in and reap the benefits.

In other words, they left the danger to others but insisted on sharing the rewards. Humans always wanted to take the profits they didn’t earn.

In Long Chen’s view, those were the most foolish people and the least dependable. They would only weigh the human race down by the ankles.

If the human race were to rise again, it would be because of the warriors willing to spill their blood for it. Not cowards hiding in the shadows.

Hence, Long Chen wasn’t killing just for vengeance. He was sending a message to the entire world: freewebnøvel.coɱ

The human race is not your slave. As long as I live, you will not trample us beneath your feet. Do so—and my wrath will come for you!

...

Long Chen arrived at another human city—and this time, something stirred in his heart.

The city’s barrier was still active, and countless human experts were locked in a desperate battle against a swarm of foreign invaders.

These invaders looked strange, and their Blood Qi was impure. Though they had the bodies of demonic beasts, they bore devil runes as well.

Each stood at least ten meters tall, wielding a massive bone spear and a shield. Bone-white helmets crowned their heads as they surrounded the city like a legion of death.

They outnumbered the humans several times over, and their Blood Qi was terrifyingly thick.

“Humans of the city! The times have changed! Surrender Brightmoon City and we’ll spare your lives. Otherwise, once we breach your barrier, we’ll slaughter every last one of you!” shouted one of the invaders.

Four Sovereign Lords radiated oppressive power from the enemy’s side. In contrast, Brightmoon City had only two. Even in terms of Emperors and even Heaven Saints, the human side was outnumbered ten to one.

The barrier shuddered as these strange lifeforms slammed the butts of their spears into the earth in a set rhythm. The pressure was quite intimidating.

Atop the city walls, with an unwavering voice, an elder shouted, “The human race once stood at the peak of the ten thousand races. We will never fall so low as to be threatened by the likes of you! This city was a blessing from our ancestors and our faith! Everyone within the city will fight to the death to protect it! If you want to attack, then just try it! My Brightmoon City does not have a single coward!”

“My life for Brightmoon City!”

“My life for Brightmoon City!”

“My life for Brightmoon City!”

The cries echoed across the walls, filled with both pride and sorrow. They knew the odds. They knew they would likely perish, becoming bloodstains on a ruined city.

But they would die as humans, with their dignity intact. Also, their blood would bear witness to the world: the human race would not be brought to its knees so easily.

“Stubborn old thing! Since you want to die so badly, fine! Kill, kill them all!” roared the enemy Sovereign Lord.

The enormous army charged forward like an unstoppable tide. The barrier around the city looked incredibly flimsy in comparison.

“Warriors of Brightmoon City, you are the heroes of the human race. Even if we die today, our ancestors will bear witness to our spirit! We will be able to tell them proudly that we didn’t stain their legacy! Don’t worry, the Brightmoon Heaven Devouring Formation has been activated! The moment we fall, we’ll detonate the grand formation. Even if we die, we’ll drag them down with us! Our blood will be the testimony of the human race’s pride! Kill!”

“Kill!”

The human experts within the city roared, summoning their manifestations. Multiple formations activated at full power.

Just as these humans were about to charge out of the city, a streak of violet light descended from the heavens, heading straight for the army of strange lifeforms.

“What?!” Startled cries rang out from both sides.

“Is that... reinforcements?” someone murmured.

“No way. We begged so many factions for help, and none came. If we had reinforcements, they would’ve arrived long ago,” someone else said bitterly.

“It’s... a Heaven Saint youngster!” exclaimed the Sovereign Lord of the city.

The white-haired elder commanding Brightmoon City was a Sovereign Lord, and his senses were naturally sharper than his subordinates’. At first, he felt hope when he saw the violet light. But when he realized it wasn’t another Sovereign Lord, only a Heaven Saint, that hope died immediately.

“Brave warrior of the human race! Don’t throw your life away! Leave this place at once! This is Brightmoon City’s battle!” shouted the other human Sovereign Lord.

Whether they lived or died, this city’s fate was sealed. There was no need for more senseless sacrifices from humans outside the city.

As he shouted, he charged out of the barrier. The rest of the human experts followed, hoping they could still save that young man.

But that "young man" was already forming hand seals as he descended—his body wrapped in violet light.

Thousands of “One” characters appeared before him, interlocking in complicated patterns.

As Long Chen reached the four enemy Sovereign Lords, his hand swung forward. All the runes layered atop one another, forming a blazing cross in his palm.

“Violet Blood Infinity-One—God Slaying Cross!”

The moment Long Chen unleashed his palm, a torrent of divine light exploded across the battlefield, charging straight for the enemy Sovereign Lords like judgment itself.
