No One Will Ever Hurt You Again I Promise-Chapter 50: What got into him?
Ayke wiped his eyes and cheeks, bathed in tears. He didn’t want his brother to notice the state he was putting him in, before gently coming out of his hug. He put a professional smile on his handsome face, a smile that had nothing hypocritical or mischievous about it, a pure and reassuring smile.
He doesn’t want to alarm his little brother if he sees him crying like that. He hasn’t let his emotions make him stupid for a long time. Then he plunged his beautiful gaze into that of his brother, who looked at him with tenderness. This one noticed the softness in his eyes just as he noticed that he had cried, but he acted as if none of that had happened, so he played the game, letting his brother think he hadn’t noticed his red eyes.
In a clear and limpid voice, Aike said to his brother: "Let’s see, it’s probably time to leave, without forgetting that we are all summoned by the principal this morning." It’s going to be weird all day long. I hope Howie doesn’t take all the blame; besides, he didn’t even want to get into the fight. Because of us, he got involved in all this shit.
" Or rather, Ayke teases him in a detached and jovial tone because of you, brother, you’re the one driving him crazy.
" That’s it, keep talking nonsense, as if there was me without you, so it was for us, not me or you." Are we going down, or do you have some more crap to add? Aike replied, looking away from his brother’s playful expression.
" Yeah, we’re going down; we’ll see what he needs before we leave, hm?" Ayke replied still amused by his brother’s shyness. "Yeah, after all, he’s put in a lot of effort, and I’ve been enjoying his company the past few days. How about you? "
" I don’t expect more from him. When his wife comes back, he will change again."
" Yeah, I know we’re just going to enjoy the moment, like when he visited us in our rooms when we were little. He thinks he was discreet, pfft. " Then they giggled like two toddlers before exiting the room.
They hadn’t even been able to reach the bottom of the stairs when their father emerged from his office, a little nervous, his eyebrows furrowed.
" Is something wrong? " Aike asks him while glancing at his brother. If it were like before, they wouldn’t need to give each other worried looks. They would only have used their link to talk and express their concerns by sending messages and all kinds of signals. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
" Yeah, there are indeed problems. It’s your mother. "
" What, she’s dead? " Ayke shouted back with excitement in his voice, prompting his father to look up at them, nodding in disbelief. He can’t believe the boys hate their mothers at this point.
" Hey, what kind of question is that?" asked Lucian, stunned by his son’s question.
" Pfff, that was too good to be true," took Ayke back a loud as if his father’s question was nothing. " She’s still alive then, so what is the bad news that put you in all your states?" "Spit it out now; it’s time for us to leave already."
" Uh, she called." Why didn’t you tell me? What happened last Friday?" Lucian still can’t get over the question. He thinks that maybe what he’s about to say to them is more likely to upset them than hearing the news of their mother’s death.
" It was unimportant, and there was no summons for the parents." It only concerns us. You don’t have to worry. "
" No, you missed something there. The problem is that your mother had a video message from friends who called her. So she’ll be there; if you had let me know, it would be less chaotic now, and she’s already on her way. "
"What the fuck?" Hearing them voice these words, Lucian wanted to tell them to watch their language, but seeing the face and the expression they displayed, he said to himself that this was not the time. " Shit, shit, shit, shit! Who could have done that? " They shouted in chorus, tumbling down the few steps that separated them from their father.
" Dad, you have to stop her from digging her nose in that matter." It’s nothing complicated; we can take care of everything. We just need to sort things out with Mrs. Morgane, and everything will return to normal. Call her, tell her you’re going with us, and you’ll take care of it. Go, dad, please? " Aike begs his father with puppy eyes, almost on the verge of bursting into tears.
" Unfortunately, I have already done it, but you know your mother. She is stubborn, and nothing can stop her when she wants to do something. You have to go before she is at your school to discuss with your friends what you will say or not. She had an overnight flight to get here in time. Now go; otherwise, she will be there before you. "
"Thanks for letting us know, dad." Ayke intervenes, patting his brother’s shoulder, who looks wholly decomposed.
" Your wife is a real pain," Aike whispers between his clenched teeth, his fists so tight that they won’t stop trembling as if he wanted to punch something.
"My pleasure," answered Lucian, ignoring Aike’s comment about his wife. " Hurry up, but above all, drive carefully. Maybe it would be best if I dropped you off; I know how to operate under pressure, and I see that you’re completely washed out there. "
Lucian was bathed in a cloud of happiness; those few days he chose to spend with the boys while his wife was away bore fruit, and he was never so happy to hear them call him dad without grimacing or calling him father as if it were a punishment.
He doesn’t regret putting his business on hold to spend time with his children. And now he sees a huge, ominous black cloud looming on the horizon that threatens to sweep away all that fine work and harmony with a wave of the hand, like a hurricane.
" Don’t worry; we’ll manage. And thank you again. " Ayke took a step back, still patting his brother.
" I trust you, little guys, and I’ve already had your cars taken out of the garage. They’re waiting for you in front of the entrance with the keys. " He patted their shoulders and watched them head for the door. With Aike’s sore face, he was sure Howie was involved in this.
" They will manage, right, sir? " A firm and worried voice rose behind him. While looking at them without turning to the voice, he answered.
" Don’t worry about them; you know them better than I do. They are strong and have an iron will. We are all witnesses to that. "
The voice was none other than their butler, one of the staff’s oldest members, who takes care of their family’s chores.
" Are you sure you don’t want to change your mind about the car?" We can go in one car together. " Ayke tried one last time to change his brother’s mind about going to school with two cars. He didn’t like the idea, and he didn’t want his brother to stay away from him too long either.
" Why? After all, we are at the top of the whole school and in New York. Why not take advantage of it like all the others take advantage of their heritage? We are the only ones to be modest at school when we are the richest. Isn’t that hilarious, bro? " Aike replied with a bit of harshness and sarcasm at the same time. He wasn’t in the mood.
He is undoubtedly in a bad mood after the news that their father has just given them.
While he was chatting with his brother in his room for a few minutes, he had a small glimpse of what he was feeling at the time, but now there was nothing left.
Everything was white, without noise or wriggling. His brother was offside, just like he was for him too. There was only him with his emotions and doubts.
Arriving outside, where the maids were waiting for them smiling, Aike paused for a moment, tugging on his brother’s sleeve. He begins to think about his mother if she finds out about their problem coordinating everything like always, and a shiver runs down his spine. She would be too happy to hear such a thing, but there is no question that she learns about it, he said to himself before letting his brother know about his thoughts.
"Hey, she must never find out about us, okay?" Without thinking twice or asking what his brother was talking about, Ayke replied, "Yeah, I agree." I was thinking the same thing. She must never find out, he muttered, touching his brother’s hand. Let’s go, we had to be there before her. "
They each touched the shiny body of their state-of-the-art sports car with a slight sparkle of satisfaction on their faces. They passed their license before the required age, yet they could never drive to go anywhere without their driver, and today represents the day they decided to do something for themselves.
During this time, somewhere on the road, father and son have agreed to talk openly about what they have in mind. " It’s like I said, I’ve never seen my son turn his thumb for anything, so if you have something you want to experience or express, do it before it’s too late."
" After all, your kingdom existed centuries ago, and your reputation and influence in the world will remain the same for centuries to come until you disappear, which is not about to happen."
" It will not go away or tarnish today because the crown prince, the pretender to the throne of the purebloods who rule England, has chosen to know who he is instead of living in fear and regret all his life. Hm? "
" Before you, they all had their share of experiences and done many stupid things, so why would you be an example of all that? "You’re as human as they are, and you have a life of your own, son."
" I think you’re going to tell me the sentence." It’s because you’re not my real son, and I don’t know the rules of your kingdom very well. But I assure you that I know your world all too well and everything that makes it so grand and respected by all. "
" I wasn’t going to say that, dad. I know you know what I’m dealing with; you’re part of my family and my kingdom. If you weren’t here, I don’t know what I would have become today. " Howie replied calmly without looking at his father. He could hear in his voice his sincerity. They were discussed peacefully between father and son. One is worried that his son does not allow himself enough time to enjoy the freedoms his youth gives him.
The other is afraid that his father, the only person to whom he is close, will be accused of having done mediocre work by raising the crown prince, while the most powerful dynasty in the world has done him honor by entrusting him with the education of the highest ranking figure in the world.
They are known for their stories of being the most courteous and picturesque in all the history of humankind. His grandfather bears the title of the first man in the world and his father the second, while he is the third, but he has never been presented to the world or worldly society.
They know of his existence, but no one knows his face; he has always been hidden from his subjects and the whole world.
His first official step into the world will be on his eighteenth birthday, and many proposals will be submitted to him so he can choose his future wife during a ball in his honor. "The Eighteen Glow"
" Hey, but what is that again, so early in the morning? Where do they think they are, these two? " Marc mumbles. He noticed the two red Ferraris in his mirrors. They were at full speed, ready to pass him, except that he represented an obstacle in their way, without considering the danger that awaited them if they decided to take over him simultaneously.
He had only one desire: to make their task even more complex and to see which of the three would abandon this race into the unknown without losing his life. But when he looked at his passenger, he remembered his mission. He let out a sigh and arranged for the one on his right to have access to the other, who had to slow down.
"Poor idiot!" shouted Ayke, frustrated by Marc’s action. "This idiot chose to corner me and let you go." What a prick. Fortunately for him, I have perfect control of my car otherwise... "
He couldn’t finish his sentence when Aike burst out laughing and replied, "poor idiot yourself, little bro, you were way too aggressive." He probably felt in danger with you. But in the meantime, I’ll see you soon. You owe me a few hundred bucks, bro. He gave you time to calm down, amigo. "
"This win doesn’t count, Aike," Ayke shouted in frustration. He had been gaining ground since he left the mansion. This old doe had to block his way and make him lose his bet. Besides, where did he learn to drive? The route that takes them from their villa to their school without traffic jams should take them thirty minutes in a private car, yet they bet to do it in three minutes.
" I had the advantage." Why is it you? He let go. Damn it! He could have stayed in the middle without meddling in our business too. "
And there, he just lost because Marc unconsciously gave access to Aike instead of him, when he should have done it for the one on the left, not the right.
Therefore, the boys don’t know that the idiot who chose to let Aike pass is Marc, their friend’s father. They don’t recognize the car he’s driving because he commonly uses a BMW to drop Howie off at school. But today, he’s driving a black Mercedes.
The sound of the Ferrari’s engine accelerating caught the attention of Howie, who smiled as she passed, followed by the other. He’s a fan of sports cars and speed.
" She’s pretty, the SF90," his father told him, noticing his little smile. " Yeah, she’s seriously alluring," Howie replies, putting aside all his thoughts about his life, which want to stress him out and make him depressed.
"You can have it if you want, you know..."
" Yeah, I know, but it’s going to draw way too much attention to me. I already had to get the Taycan out. She’s done a lot of gossiping already; I’m not ready to hear any naughty thoughts coming out of those vermin’s mouths in the coming days. These days I might freak out and get us in trouble again. "he answered, still as calm as before. He felt tired of everything.
He feels tired of everything, like keeping control of his birth wolf, who, like Lyke, has fallen in love with Lug, his classmate. So he gets angry when he’s not around, he gets restless, and he’s in a bad mood all the time. It is not only Lyke who is responsible for his teleportation but the two of them; their need to be around the twins, especially Aike, drives them to madness. They like to tease him just like H did when he hadn’t woken up yet.
" Don’t worry about the gossip; do as usual. Since when did what other people say have such an impact on you, man? " Marc’s voice rose in the silence.
" I’m not worried about myself. It’s just that I can’t control myself anymore when it comes to these little..."
He paused before picking up his sentence where he left off, staying polite and courteous... " Ever since they’ve been in my life, I’ve just pushed aside everything we’ve worked so hard for all these years."
" The basic rules and principles we enacted went up in smoke in just a few months."
Marc burst out laughing, "Well, rules are made to be broken and bent; I’m a little glad you have an everyday life like all the other teenagers your age." So enjoy it, because it won’t last forever. Do you understand me? But, still, try to do as little damage as possible. "
" I know the boys awaken your supernatural ratings, but try your best to sedate the pureblood." For now, it is our greatest danger. We must continue fighting to keep him under control and appease him."
" And to manage to calm him down, you have to relax; being under stress and depression is a poison that will lead us all to our loss. Don’t stress your inner birth. You already know how you are in your family. "
" Yeah, the scale is long between madness, rage, violence, insensitivity, and ferocity, but yes, I’ll do my best, Pa. I don’t want to become a shameless, bloodthirsty animal who kills for fun and cannot control his emotions and murderous urges. I am worth much more than that, even if my guest is as dangerous as the first one. I am a time bomb, I know. "
" I know. That’s why you have to work to try your best to enjoy your life as the teen you are. It’s not enough to say it. It would be best to put your all into it as always, big boy; everyone knows that’s difficult. I am here to help you carry all the burdens that come with it."
" Have fun dating the people you love, and talk to your friend about your sentimental issues." If the latter is under control, this is an additional ticket for sunny days in paradise for us. "
" I know, Dad. And I want you to stop saying "my sentimental issues" because I don’t have any. It’s just that I’m a little confused and unsure of a few things, which annoys me a little.
"That’s what I also said," Marc replies, smiling slightly in the background. Howie glared at him. He knew his father could be as childish as Bravael when he wanted. So he decides not to continue this discussion because he won’t stop teasing him with this story.
"You and Bravael make a good pair." He grumbled between his teeth while watching the cheerful smile on his father’s lips from the corner of his eye. "Tch, he is unbelievable."
" We are here, son." Do you want me to drop you inside, or do you want to get off here? "
" Drop me inside; I’m not in the mood to put up with their intense stares at me with every step I take. It annoys me and gives me cravings I can’t control."
" Well, ok, I see. It’s like you say, "Your smile makes me happy."
" Hey, but these are the ones that passed us on the road a few minutes ago, right?"
Howie looked up to understand what his father was talking about. In the parking lot of the guests of honor, who are ten in all, are parked two brand new red Ferraris from this year.
" Yeah, I confirm; it’s them, Aike and Ayke." It’s their cars. Look at the plates. They are also their two initials engraved on the license plates. I had not paid attention to this detail on the road."
" Luckily, there was no traffic this morning. We didn’t need it anyway; it was two shitty little idiots who had fun racing on such a steep road. Or maybe they demanded that the way be cleared for them, "he finished with a chuckle. After all, they are the princes of New York, aren’t they?"
"Dad, stop it; they won’t have done that."
" I know, honey, I was kidding; besides, that’s all I’d like to see you do. Live like teenagers without worrying until the day when you will lose all this freedom to focus on affairs of state, disputes between races and packs, and conflicts between human and non-human families. "
" They enjoy their good days, but be careful. You’re not like them. You always have to remember that. And I intend to give them a little lesson on their conduct this morning. "
" OK, that’s enough. Drop me here. Thank you for everything, Pa. I’ll go through the main entrance. They’re probably waiting to start the meeting, and I’ll let you know everything, okay? "
" It’s okay, big boy." "See you later."
Normally, he uses his student card as a pass to access the school building and relate to the students. The exit doors that open onto the schoolyard require an access card to open because they do not open from the outside, unlike the main entry and the two main exits, which open automatically. It’s not in his habit to access the school through the main entrance; it’s his first time.
He headed through the door which opened in front of him as his father watched his slender and tall figure shifting away, his backpack slung over his shoulder nonchalantly but still spotless in his uniform.
His hair is tied up in a ponytail with crazy wisps of hair sticking out of it, which makes him irresistible. He ignores the looks directed at him and the whispers of voices that rise in his path.
He only concentrates on his path and the things he will do during the day, depending on the punishment that awaits him.
In the waiting room, the tension that reigns there is at its maximum. Anyone who casts an eye through the large windows that open onto the room will see the personification of unease settling right in the middle of the room.
Theo was the second to arrive, four to five minutes after El and ten to fifteen minutes before the twins. Those fifteen minutes were the most suffocating of his life.
When he noticed that El had arrived, he had the presence of mind to turn around and find another place to wait away from him, but it was too late when his gaze met El’s through the open window.
He decided not to give him the satisfaction of seeing him take refuge at the other end of the school with the ultimate goal of avoiding him. He steeled himself and walked into the room, nodding his head to El, not saying a word.
He sat in one of the chairs, away from El, where he settled down. He took out a book from his bag and plugged in his earphones so that he could forget the other person’s presence in the room. He was not far from him; just a few inches separated them.
El picked up his bag and sat in the chair opposite Theo’s at the other end of the room, watching him. His head was propped against the back of the chair, his eyes half-closed. " Of all the jerks who should be here, he’s the one who showed up on the second tch..." he mumbled, monitoring every move of Theo’s nice jawline.
When the twins finally made their way to the waiting room door, it was time. Theo hasn’t moved from the armchair since he sat in his corner. He has patience. He knows that the other is watching him, so he avoids, by all means, meeting his gaze, even inadvertently.
Bravael got up to greet them, giving each other hugs and all without paying the slightest attention to Theo, who had just made himself even smaller in his chair.
So you’re the new one who stole my most expensive possession in the world? Aike asked. He approached Theo dangerously, as if he was about to punch him. He took off one of his earpieces, which automatically cut off the sound as soon as the other one was taken off.
Theo remained frozen like a statue without making the slightest gesture. He didn’t even dare raise his head to meet the gaze of the one who allowed himself to touch his things without his permission, but he already knew the smell of the boys.
El approached them slowly, "Hey man, I’m sorry for everything that happened, and I’m the only one responsible for this shit." If there’s anyone to blame, it’s me, not him. My stubbornness led to this disaster, and we are now summoning everyone here. "
" I’m talking to him since he was the one who hit my brother and me. Why are you apologizing? "Aike asked El, using an authoritative voice that El didn’t recognize. He is always charming, conciliatory, and, above all, very easy to intimidate.
El raised his hands in surrender, raising a surprised eyelash at the tone in which Aike spoke to him. He turned to Ayke with a question on his face. Ayke answered by shrugging his shoulders before crossing his arms over his chest with a smirk on his lips, admiring his brother’s bossy tone.
Theo whispers, still keeping his head down. "I’m sorry." He’s not afraid of the twins. It’s just that El is bullying him on one hand, and on the other hand, he’s ashamed of acting so rude last time.
He should have been much more careful and stopped the fight when the boys made their first attempt to separate them, but instead, he failed to show leadership. He was impulsive and stupid. That’s what makes him ashamed. And the only person he fears here hasn’t even arrived yet.
" What game are you playing? " asked a calm voice from the threshold, far too calm. They all turn towards the door, Theo jumping out of the chair to stand, wringing his hands like a frightened toddler.
Howie crosses the few meters that separate him from Aike. He went to stand in front of him, staring at him carefully. Aike raised his head towards him, watching every movement of his sexy, attractive jaw and his gaze going from his lips to his eyes.
After a good minute of exchanging silent honeyed glances, Howie resumes speaking, scanning the room with his eyes to return to Aike. This one swallows painfully, making a dull noise in the room’s silence.
" What, are you starting to bully others now, princess?" Indeed, it’s El’s fault, and it’s also partly my fault, so it’s me and EL that you have to blame. Your anger, we deserve it, but not him. "
" He was just defending himself, and he’s new here." Who would have told him that you were here to stop the fight instead of holding him down so your friend could hit him mercilessly in front of everyone else?"
Theo and El remained amazed by his actions. They did not expect the latter to try to wash Theo away from this infamous sin that fell on his back. In particular, Theo is especially caught off guard by H’s behavior. He knows how the latter crushes those who attack the twins without worrying about the damage. Even though he doesn’t know what Aike was talking about when he mentioned his "dearest thing in the world."
" Maybe he believed that you decided to hold him in place to give El, whom he indicates with his head, time to give him the beating of his life, don’t you think?"
" I know telling you I’m sorry won’t help the situation, but I still want you to know I truly am. I hope you can forgive me one day, and I’m talking to you too. He says, turning to Ayke, who hasn’t breathed a word since Howie entered the room. "
He feels like he’s seen him for the first time. He doesn’t know why he got that feeling, but one thing is for sure, he doesn’t want to take his brother’s place.
" No, uh... me, no, don’t worry," he stuttered, trying to find the right words to speak to him. His brother stares at him intently, looking for the sudden reason for his stuttering.
It’s the first time he’s seen him lose his boldness and words in front of Howie. Usually, they are very flirty, naughty, and so on.
" But what happens to him?" He muttered
