No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 606 - 604 You Will Regret [1 more update]
At the top of the stairs, Maya Spencer looked at the unconscious James Bennett, at Liam Spencer suddenly appearing, and at the puddle of blood on the floor, her legs gave out from fear. She hadn’t expected things to turn out like this; she just wanted to leave the villa.
"Quick, call 911." Liam shouted at the servant.
Suddenly, chaos ensued in the villa, everyone was flustered, yet unable to muster any strength, they could only watch James Bennett lying there, not daring to move him.
Since this was a high-end villa area, an ambulance was always available 24/7. Two minutes after the servant made the call, the ambulance arrived, and the medical staff immediately lifted James Bennett onto the ambulance.
As James Bennett was being carried onto the ambulance, Sophia Bennett happened to arrive. Seeing the person being taken away was her uncle, she hurriedly grabbed the servant’s hand, asking: "Miss Fisher, what’s going on? What’s wrong with my uncle?"
"Sir and Miss Maya argued all afternoon today, and just now, the two began arguing at the stairway again. Miss Maya pushed sir, and sir rolled down the stairs." Miss Fisher explained with tightly furrowed brows.
"Maya pushed him?" Sophia was astonished, unable to comprehend what grudges existed between her uncle and Maya that such a thing could happen.
"Yes. Miss Maya is still in the villa; the third young master just arrived as well." the servant explained.
Sophia, seeing the servant’s firm assertion that her uncle had been pushed by Maya, felt a burst of anger but still followed the ambulance to the hospital.
Inside the villa, after James Bennett was carried away by the medical staff, Liam Spencer took a deep breath before slowly heading to the second floor.
Maya Spencer was already standing at the stairway entrance in shock; everything that had just happened seemed like a dream, a dream she didn’t want to face.
She was unwilling to face the fact that James Bennett was her father, even more unwilling to face the fact that she had accidentally pushed him down the stairs; meanwhile, she was also petrified.
Liam looked at the numb girl, spread his arms, gently embraced her, patted her back, and soothed, "He’ll be fine. We’ll go to the hospital together to wait for him."
Listening to Liam’s comfort, hearing he wanted to take her to the hospital to wait for James Bennett, Maya was revolted.
Her body’s instinct was to reach out and push Liam away, but the scene of James Bennett falling down the stairs immediately appeared in her mind.
So she quickly withdrew her small hand, moved back two steps with her legs, stood in the corridor, furrowed her brows, and said earnestly, "I’m not going. This is his own doing, he wanted to drag me down, if he didn’t drag me, I wouldn’t have pushed him."
In order not to be plagued by guilt, Maya was making excuses for herself. She was also unwilling to accept this father just because she pushed James Bennett, as this was not her genuine intention.
Hence, she told herself it was all James Bennett’s fault; if he hadn’t meddled, this wouldn’t have happened. She hadn’t forgiven him for betraying her mother just because she pushed him, she still hated him.
Liam knew that Maya was frightened; her refusal to go was because she was avoiding; she didn’t want to face these matters, so she hid away, giving herself excuses.
Liam looked at the girl’s rejection, at her guarded eyes, stood in the corridor, gently took her small hand, and said, "Maya, no one blames you, we all know you didn’t do it on purpose; Chairman Bennett didn’t blame you either, he just said you weren’t intentional."
Liam still understood Maya; he knew she wouldn’t admit her mistake verbally, but in her heart, she certainly wouldn’t forgive herself, so he relayed James Bennett’s words to her, hoping she wouldn’t overwhelm herself with pressure and self-blame.
Maya listened to Liam’s comfort, abruptly withdrew her hand, shaking her head, saying, "It’s none of my business, none of my business! I’m not going to see him, I won’t go to see him."
At this moment, Maya’s mind was chaotic, she couldn’t calmly think, she only knew she hated James Bennett, she didn’t want to see James Bennett, she didn’t want to admit he was her father, even though it was the truth.
Liam saw Maya wouldn’t listen to his advice, furrowed his brows, tightly gripping her arms, earnestly saying, "Maya, how can you not go? Regardless of whether this matter is your responsibility or not, irrespective of the right or wrong of this situation, it is indeed you who pushed Chairman Bennett down the stairs."
"If he were to die like this, if you never see him again, you would regret it, Maya. Don’t do something you’ll regret. We’re just going to the hospital to see him, not asking you to compromise, not asking you to accept him as your father. One thing is separate from another. We’re just going to apologize for this accident, okay?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Liam was always patient with Maya’s matters, afraid she might not understand.
But Maya was being stubborn; she couldn’t take Liam’s advice. She only held her head up, staring into Liam’s eyes, perplexedly asking, "Why should I apologize? I did nothing wrong."
"Fine! We won’t apologize; we’re not wrong. We’re just going to see if he’s okay, alright?" Liam saw her eyes in a trance, so he stopped reasoning with her, fearing her stubbornness would deepen her resentment, fearing she might end up hating herself too.
Liam didn’t know Maya was already filled with resentment toward him, just that now, she hadn’t recovered from the shock of James Bennett’s fall, so she hadn’t confronted him.
Maya listened to Liam’s advice, thinking James Bennett might die, because she accidentally pushed him down. Maya was scared; she didn’t want James Bennett to die by her hand, didn’t want her hands stained with blood, much less for James Bennett to find escape through her mistake.
That man should live well, should face the consequences of his mistakes, not end his life like this.
Thus, Maya took a deep breath, nodded at Liam, and said, "Okay!"
She agreed to go with Liam to the hospital. She was just going to see if James Bennett was seriously injured, to pray he was safe, pray he would live well, and continue their cold war; otherwise, how could she balance the feelings within her heart?
Actually, she was scared, scared that as Liam said, reviewing this day someday, she’d regret it. She didn’t want to regret it, even more so she didn’t want to have a tangled enmity with James Bennett. If James Bennett really died by her hands, she couldn’t find peace for the rest of her life, she’d live in nightmares, she didn’t want that.
Inside Liam’s car, the man saw Maya sitting on the passenger seat, tense and stern, her two hands tightly clenching into small fists, extremely nervous. He took a deep breath, gently held her small hand, comforting, "Maya, it’ll be fine, don’t be scared."
"Don’t touch me!" Maya suddenly pulled her hand back, fiercely warning him not to touch her.
