Obsessed with a High-Ranking Esper (BL)-Chapter 306: Yu Xi getting kidnapped
Meanwhile, Jian Ci sat down next to Yu Xi. Without hesitation, he grabbed Yu Xi’s chair and pulled him closer until their shoulders touched. Yu Xi wasn’t even surprised anymore. He just sighed. Jian Ci had been clingier than ever these days. He couldn’t even get out of bed without Jian Ci asking, "Where are you going?" Not that Yu Xi was complaining. Deep down, he loved this side of Jian Ci, the clingy warmth that wrapped around him like a shield.
Across the table, Stannis had watched the interaction with a kind of hungry fascination. His hand had lifted, almost unconsciously, reaching toward Jian Rui who sat beside him. But Jian Rui’s gaze; a sharp, warning flicker—had frozen the motion mid-air. Stannis converted the reach into a light pat on Jian Rui’s shoulder, a smile playing on his lips as if he had merely noticed a stray thread on Jian Rui.
And then Eros spoke. The old man’s voice was deceptively calm, a veneer over steel. "You two seem to be getting along."
Yu Xi opened his mouth, a polite deflection ready on his tongue, but Jian Ci was faster. He turned that brilliant, disarming smile toward Eros. "Grandpa," Jian Ci began, the word deliberate and warm, "I have been meaning to visit you, but I hadn’t found the time yet."
The temperature in the room dropped several degrees. Eros’s face didn’t change drastically. His expression remained that of a patriarch presiding over a family meal. But his eyes. His eyes turned flat and cold, fixed on Jian Ci with a simmering dislike Yu Xi recognized instantly. Eros wanted his grandson happy. He adored Yu Xi. But Jian Ci... Jian Ci was the persistent thorn, the upstart who had woven himself so inextricably into Yu Xi’s life that removing him would cause fatal damage. Each encounter chipped away at Eros’s patience.
"Who are you calling ’grandpa’?" Eros’s question was clipped.
Yu Xi’s own gaze snapped to his grandfather as though saying, "Be nice to him."
His eyes communicated the message clearly, a lifetime of understanding passing between them in a look.
Jian Ci’s hand on Yu Xi’s waist moved, not away, but firmer. It was a slow, reassuring caress over the fabric of his shirt. His smile didn’t falter. "Soon, we will be family," Jian Ci said, his voice smooth and confident. "I thought I should address you as such."
The statement hung there, a challenge wrapped in courtesy.
Then Xiaobao chimed in. Her youthful voice, always a little too loud for delicate moments, cut through the tension. "Yeah! They are getting married soon, Papa. You should get used to it."
The table’s reaction was a study in frozen expressions. The silence that followed Yu Xi’s statement was cold and absolute. Jian Rui’s gaze locked on Jian Ci, sharp enough to cut glass. "Why the hell wouldn’t you tell me?"
Jian Ci didn’t flinch. He met the stare head-on, his posture relaxed but his eyes unyielding. Yu Xi said, "We are not getting married."
Jian Ci was quick, his voice a low counterpoint. "Not yet. But I proposed."
A scoff came from the other end of the room. Eros hmphed and said, "If you want to marry him, you have to get my permission first." His tone was flat and final.
Beside Jian Rui, Stannis leaned in. His whisper was a soft, intimate brush against Jian Rui’s ear, a contrast to the brewing storm. "Should we get married too?"
Jian Rui’s reaction was instant. He shoved Stannis away with a stiff arm, a flush of heat exploding across his face. His ears burned so fiercely they turned a deep, crimson red, practically bleeding with color. Stannis just chuckled, a low, satisfied sound.
Jian Rui cleared his throat, trying to wrest control back into the room. "Let’s eat. We can air our grievances later." The suggestion was practical, a lifeline thrown into turbulent waters.
But Jian Ci wasn’t ready to let the moment go. He reached out, his fingers gentle but deliberate as they pinched Yu Xi’s chin, tilting his face slightly. He leaned close, his whisper meant only for Yu Xi. "I will definitely air out my grievances with you later."
A smile touched Yu Xi’s lips, small and private. A blush, warm and undeniable, crept up his neck, staining his skin. "Oh yeah?" he murmured back.
"Yeah," Jian Ci confirmed, the single word loaded with promise.
Eros cleared his throat again, this time a loud, jarring noise that fractured the private bubble. Jian Ci’s hand dropped from Yu Xi’s chin immediately, the connection severed.
Yu Xi turned his attention to his grandfather, his expression innocent. "Does your throat hurt?"
"No," Eros replied, his voice tight. "I had something stuck in my throat."
Xiaobao rarely saw his grandfather, the unshakable, stoic pillar, so visibly stumped. It was to her, genuinely funny to watch.
The laughter diffused some of the pressure. Jian Ci didn’t return to the confrontation. Instead, he moved closer to Yu Xi again. He wrapped an arm around Yu Xi’s shoulders and pulled him into his side. Then he dipped his head, burying his nose in the crook of Yu Xi’s neck. He took a deep, audible whiff of his scent and smiled contentedly. The act was so intimate, so possessive, that a visible tremor ran through Jian Ci’s own frame. He held there for a second, breathing Yu Xi in, as if to steady himself against the world.

Five days later...
After the briefing, the air in the secret base was heavy with resolve. Everyone had their roles, their positions, their destinies set in motion.
Eros had dispatched his strike teams to the labs, each one poised to attack simultaneously, cutting off Thaurion’s resources in one coordinated sweep. Jian Rui, alongside Stannis and their masked men, prepared to surround the imperial palace in the shadows, waiting for the signal. Jian Wei remained behind, overseeing the entire operation from the secret base, his fingers flying across consoles, his mind calculating every possible variable.
Meanwhile, Thaurion sat in the grand chamber of the divine council, his expression unreadable as the elders droned on. He was unaware of the movements against him, but his patience was wearing thin. Jian Rui had been testing him for weeks, offering excuse after excuse for why Yu Xi had not yet been brought to the palace.
Thaurion’s jaw tightened. Enough delays.
Even as the council debated divine decrees, he sent his imperial guards to the palace. His orders were simple. He wanted them to secure Yu Xi.
Yu Xi, oblivious to the fact that he was Thaurion’s target, was en route to his assigned position. The hum of his hovercar was steady, his mind focused on the mission. But then, the atmosphere shifted.
Imperial hovercars appeared from the shadows, surrounding him in a tight formation. Their sleek frames glinted under the city lights, their engines growling like predators closing in.
Yu Xi didn’t expect Thaurion’s reaction to be this extreme. He immediately activated the emergency signal on his communicator, his fingers swift, his instincts sharp. But he didn’t realise rhe signal wasn’t sent.
There was a signal jammers preventing him from sending an SOS message. The imperial hovercars closed in, their lights flooding his vehicle, their presence suffocating. And Yu Xi understood that Thaurion had made his move.
The jamming field was localized but powerful and his communicator was a useless piece of jewelry on his wrist. His hovercar had defensive screens, but they were meant for debris, not military-grade pulsers.
Thaurion’s target, he realized with a cold wash of understanding. It wasn’t Jian Rui’s disobedience that was the problem. It was the reason for it. Thaurion had grown tired of asking. He was simply taking.
His hovercar was directed to the imperial palace. Not the main entrance but at the entrance where the imperial concubines used. This was where all the palaces for the concubines where.
They came to a stop and Yu Xi watched one of the imperial guards come out of one of the hover cars his aura imposing. He knocked at Yu Xi’s car window and Yu Xi tapped the panel. The window lowered and the imperial guard said, "His Majesty has arranged a residence for you, please step outside."
Yu Xi didn’t want to make things difficult resulting in their plans being ruined so he got out of the hovercar and followed them. He was led inside and the imperial guards surrounding the exists as though afraid he would run away.
Yu Xi chuckled and asked, "Is this really necessary?" One of the imperial guards replied,
"Just following orders, sir."
Yu Xi didn’t make it difficult for them. He just sat down and said, "You may leave." The imperial guard looked at him and replied,
"Sir, that won’t be possible. We where ordered to stay by your side unless the Imperial Lord gave us further instructions.’
Yu Xi sighed. They had a flawless play that took years to come up with yet they didn’t expect for this to happen. It was a good thing Jian Ci could track his pendant.
