Omega Summoner-Chapter 2838: Gods Taking Over
"Seriously, I thought being a merchant inside the game would give me a rags to riches story like that one player known as Piggy Bank. To think that I would be stuck peddling for a few years now and not even getting the deposit for an actual store. I should have invested at Avalon when it was just newly built." A merchant player stated as he was now going towards the small town that he usually goes every month.
The small town is located at a place where monsters about level 150 or so are present which is why the NPCs there are somewhat strong but they also somewhat lack any connection to the outside world. In fact, it was him that introduced them to some forms of entertainment and spices. This player is named as Shekel as it was said to be something as a heritage for him due to his family always calling him that.
Shekel might grumble being a peddling merchant with no base of operations but he actually enjoys it because the NPCs that he encountered were very warm and friendly. In fact, the small town that he is going to right now is actually the starting town that he was sent to. Even though he did not expect to be flung to a place without any merchant guild, he enjoyed the ambiance and the hospitality of the people there.
He actually wanted to start a base for merchants in that town which is why he already got the permit from the merchant guild. He has not been back to this town for two months as he needed to get qualifications and be given tests by the merchant guild to see if he is worthy of opening a small branch. He managed to succeed in doing so and immediately started to return to that small town.
Shekel wants the small town to somewhat flourish and be slightly upgraded as there are untapped mines in that place. The mines in near the small town are also infested with monsters hence the townspeople rarely mine there. If he creates a branch of the merchant guild there then players might flock the town and help with monster exterminations. There are some blacksmiths in that town that are blessed by a god but cannot properly bloom their talents because of the lacking materials.
"I usually bring back the metals but I could not bring much because I used most of my money for the permit. Thankfully, I have a good mount that my summoner customer gave me back then. He was quite strange because he caught a level 250 Tyrant Honey Badger.
He was quite high leveled and even had a wolf as a summon. Even though I offered him one of those mysterious things than I do not even use, he gave me such a dependable mount. I forgot to ask for his friend ID because I want to check what he is doing. He might even surpass that Demon Summoner player." Shekel stated as he remembered encountering a human summoner with a black wolf as a soulbound almost a year ago.
Thanks to the Tyrant Honey Badger, Shekel managed to successfully do more peddling and afford to get the merchant guild permit faster than he anticipated. He even got to level 200 with minimal losses as peddling merchants often encounter bandits and wild monsters. With his new peddling mount, Shekel eliminated most of his worries and got what his goal is.
"I am a few minutes away from the town! I hope the beef kebab is still as good as before." Shekel stated as he reminisced the sight of the town walls that are made of wood.
Just as Shekel is imagining the past, he suddenly froze because the small town that he is going to is suddenly billowing smoke in their direction. He instantly commanded his mount to fasten its stride as he felt that there must be something wrong with the town. As he grew closer to the town, the wooden fences were nowhere to be found. A large wall made of pure white stone reinforced by large steel rods could be seen looming in the distance.
The small town that he remembered suddenly changed entirely as the huts that were houses are now reinforced with steel and concrete. Shekel is shocked by the sudden change in two months because this place is a very backwaters area. Even the merchant guild did not want to create a branch here because there really is no specialty or anything alluring to it. The quaint small town that he believed to still be there is suddenly like a small fortress town hidden from the world.
"Shekel! Is that you?" One of the guards suddenly shouted as he saw the familiar face of the merchant that always visits them.
"Guard Oliver! Was the town taken over by a guild? Why is there such a huge change within two months?" Shekel asked as he is genuinely curios since only a player guild could transform this place in such a small timeframe.
"A guild? Even if they did come, they would have left easily as well. The transformation of the town is due to our guardian deity descending. He has created this place as his sanctuary but he only did so when disaster struck our town." The guard named Oliver replied.
"Can you please tell me what happened?" Shekel asked.
The guard then proceeded to recap what happened to the town and how it ended up in the hands of a god. The town was supposed to be destroyed by a monster horde that is being led by the Savage Panther field boss. The monster horde came quick and did not even show signs of forming which made even the hunters of the town baffled. A monster horde forming without any prior signs meant that a more powerful monster has taken root in the place.
There was nowhere left to run because this place is not an ideal spot for any town. They are surrounded by mountains and forests that are filled with beasts. If they do not take the main road, they will all become fodder for monsters at the end. The problem is that the beast horde was arriving from the main road which is why there was nowhere left to run.
As the monster horde was only an hour away, the townspeople could only pray to their guardian god. This guardian god is not well known in the central continent but he was the only one blessing the blacksmiths of this town. The blacksmiths pray to this god and never leave the town as a way to thank the god. It is also thanks to the blacksmiths that this town does not lack any food despite being quite poor.
Just as everyone was about to lose hope, the blacksmiths that the townspeople wanted to protect did not cower and flee. All of them took to arms with the weapons that they have forged themselves. The Savage Panther with the monster horde was now in full view. Even though they know that death is close, the men and any abled body fighter in the village took to arms and shouted a battle cry that revered their guardian god.
The monster horde was about to swallow the town whole when the skies darkened and a man covered in flames with four golden wings descended from it. This man then proceeded to erupt in flames which decimated the entirety of the monster horde. When the monster horde was extinguished, the man finally descended slowly and showed himself to the people.
"Thank you, Guardian God Gibil!" The blacksmiths shouted as the god that descended was none other than the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil.
"I have heard all of your fervent prayers and your proud battle cry. I have descended into the material plane to guide all of you that has never faltered in worshipping me." The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil stated as he really did descend to help them despite knowing the risks.
"After our guardian god descended, we got stronger and he even cleared up the monsters in the mines. Now, our smiths can now use the metals and gems that we previously could not get." The guard stated which shocked Shekel as he now knows where he got a blessing from.
[You have gained the Small Blessing of Purification from the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil.]
Shekel is also a believer of this god since the townspeople are strong believers. He never thought that he would also gain a small blessing from a god. Still, he did get some news that gods have already descended and even took on roles as kings or rulers in certain cities. He never thought that the town that he loved is also being ruled by a god. At first, he only needed to talk to the town mayor but now he needs to talk to an actual god for his future business.
