Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Theodore Grant Says, ’I Regret It’...

Just as I was happily scrolling through the comments, my phone suddenly rang.

When I saw the caller ID, the smile on my face instantly froze...

"What’s wrong? Who’s calling?" Chloe Miller leaned over curiously and glanced at my screen.

But when she saw the name ’Theodore Grant,’ her brow furrowed slightly. "Why is he calling you?"

"I don’t know." Without a second thought, I hung up.

But soon, Theodore’s call came in again. I immediately hung up again.

After this happened three times, I finally lost my patience and dragged his number into my blacklist. The world finally felt quiet.

However, a moment later, a call from an unknown number came through.

I didn’t even have to think to know it was Theodore.

"Just answer and see what he has to say. If you don’t, that scumbag will probably keep calling forever. You can’t just keep blocking numbers, can you?" Chloe said, exasperated.

I pressed my lips together. I knew Chloe was right. Given Theodore’s usual stubbornness, he was more than capable of doing something like that.

With that thought, I took a deep breath and hit the answer button.

"Hello..."

But the other end of the line was silent.

Just as I was starting to wonder if it wasn’t Theodore after all, he finally spoke. "You and Sebastian Forrest were the ones who played the recording at the engagement party, weren’t you?"

I hadn’t expected him to call me just to chew me out. I let out a cold laugh. "Where’s your proof?"

"I don’t need proof," Theodore’s voice was low. "To be able to pull something like that at the banquet... considering the power required, there’s no one in all of Kington who could do it besides Sebastian Forrest."

I didn’t respond, still worried he was trying to bait me into confessing. I just said coldly, "Is this the only reason you called?"

"No..."

Theodore took a deep breath, as if suppressing his rage. "Chelsea Joyce, do you have any idea how much your childish act of revenge cost the Grant Group’s stock? A billion! A full billion!"

I laughed out of sheer anger. "Only a billion? That’s too little!"

"Chelsea Joyce!"

"Theodore Grant!" I shot back sharply. "Instead of wasting your breath with me, you’d be better off trying to clear up the scandal between your dear fiancée and your old man! See if you can get your billion back then!"

"Clara Langley and I have already called off the engagement." Theodore seemed to realize he had lost control and tried to calm himself. "I’m going to have Clara take another prenatal paternity test..."

I sneered. "Oh, don’t do that. What if they’re completely innocent!"

"You..." Theodore sounded frustrated. He took a deep breath and was silent for a long time before finally speaking again. "Chelsea, I’ve been thinking these past few days... how did we end up like this?"

Hearing him suddenly switch the topic to the two of us, I frowned, my face filled with impatience. "I don’t have time to listen to you reminisce about the past. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up..."

But Theodore suddenly laughed, a laugh filled with sorrow. "Chelsea, have you really become so impatient that you can’t even stand to speak one more word to me?"

My face was blank as I said coldly, "Theodore, we’re already divorced."

"But I regret it..."

When those three words, "I regret it," reached my ears, I froze, as if I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

In my relationship with Theodore, I was always the humblest one...

I had bent over backward just to make Theodore not hate me so much.

As for ’love’...

That was something I never even dared to dream of.

But now, Theodore was telling me ’he regrets it.’

How utterly—ridiculous!

I couldn’t help but take a deep breath, trying to suppress the fire in my heart. "Theodore, I am not your second-best option. Don’t call me again!"

With that, before Theodore could say another word, I had already hung up. I then dragged the new number into my blacklist before tossing my phone aside.

"Shameless people are truly invincible!" Chloe fumed. "He and Clara Langley are a match made in heaven. My advice? They should lock it down, tie the knot for a hundred years of bliss! And stay the hell away from the rest of us!"

I took another deep breath, trying to calm myself. It was clear Theodore had gotten me seriously riled up.

Still, I did get something out of that call—Clara Langley’s perfect plan had finally fallen through!

And, just as Sebastian Forrest had predicted, Theodore was now questioning the accuracy of that first prenatal paternity test and was going to make Clara take another one.

’At this rate, in a few days, he’s going to find out he’s not about to be a father, but a big brother!’

"I really want to go to the hospital and watch the show..." Chloe pursed her lips. "To see that scumbag and Vincent Lombard get what they deserve with my own eyes!"

At Chloe’s suggestion, I felt a flicker of eagerness myself.

Nothing would be more satisfying than seeing Clara Langley and Vincent Lombard in a state of utter panic.

Besides, Theodore had just said he was going to have another prenatal paternity test done...

"Why don’t we call Dr. Miller? We can ask him to find out which hospital Clara is in! Then we can go watch the drama!"

"Wouldn’t that be bothering Dr. Miller too much?"

"What’s the big deal? Friends help each other out. And hey, we can help Dr. Miller look for his sister. It’s mutual aid!" Chloe said nonchalantly.

Seeing that I was still hesitating, she immediately pulled out her phone. "Fine, if you won’t call, I will!"

I quickly grabbed her hand. "I’ll do it."

Soon, the call connected. Jude Miller was quite surprised to see it was me calling him. "Miss Joyce? What a rarity. You’re actually calling me? What’s up? Is there something you need?"

Thinking about my request, I felt a little embarrassed, but I steeled myself and said, "It’s nothing major, I just wanted to ask, Dr. Miller, do you happen to know which hospital Clara Langley was taken to?"

"I do. Kington University Hospital, OB/GYN." After saying that, Jude seemed to have a sudden thought. "What? Is Miss Joyce perhaps looking for some gossip? Hahaha, well don’t hang up, I’ll take you over for a look..."

"No, that’s not necessary, Dr. Miller..."

But there was no response from the other end, just the sound of footsteps.

After an unknown amount of time, the line suddenly became noisy. Chloe and I looked at each other, wondering what was happening on his end, when Jude’s slightly excited voice came through. "Let me tell you, there’s a real show to see here!"

"What happened?" I asked quickly.

"Clara Langley tried to kill herself again! She’s in the emergency room being treated right now!"

"..."

—That word, "again," was so telling...

’Dr. Miller really got it!’
