On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 115: The Child in Your Belly Is Our Grant Family’s Bloodline
I looked at him, feeling a growing unease. I subconsciously clenched my fists, a little afraid of what he was about to say...
Sebastian Forrest’s gaze fell to my hands. He seemed to pause for a few seconds before slowly looking away. "I just can’t stand Theodore Grant’s smug act... It wasn’t entirely about saving you."
I couldn’t help but relax slightly. But for some reason, after the wave of relief, I felt a strange sense of loss. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Before I had a chance to sort through my emotions, however, Sebastian Forrest spoke again. "What are your plans for the future?"
I pressed my lips together. Of course, I knew what he was asking.
Now that Theodore Grant knew about the pregnancy, he was bound to pester me endlessly. That was precisely why I had been so insistent on getting an abortion in the first place...
To completely sever all ties with Theodore Grant.
Without a child, there would be no link connecting us.
But now, Theodore Grant and I were successfully divorced. And since I also knew the child wasn’t his, the decision to keep it or not had nothing to do with him.
Still, if Theodore Grant kept bothering me, it would definitely be a problem.
"Then I’ll get a prenatal paternity test..." I looked up. "Once Theodore Grant knows the child isn’t his, he’ll surely stop harassing me."
"I’m afraid it’s not that simple." Sebastian Forrest shook his head slightly. "You think Theodore Grant will just give up when he finds out the child isn’t his?"
I looked at him, confused. "Why do you say that?"
Sebastian Forrest’s long, slender fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel, the corners of his lips lifting in the barest hint of a smile. "What, you don’t believe me?"
"I just don’t think Theodore Grant would be that persistent..."
The only reason he lost control like that today was because of the baby.
If he knew the baby wasn’t his, he surely wouldn’t be so stubborn.
The corners of Sebastian Forrest’s eyes crinkled, but the lines of his face remained sharp. "How about a bet, junior?"
"A bet?" I was a bit dazed. "Bet on what?"
"I’ll bet that even if Theodore Grant finds out the child isn’t his, he won’t give up..."
’How is that possible?’
His words stirred my competitive spirit. "What are the stakes?"
"Let’s bet on granting the winner one wish."
’A chance to get a wish from Sebastian Forrest?’
That sounded like a pretty good deal.
"Okay." I held out my pinky finger to Sebastian Forrest. "It’s a deal."
Sebastian Forrest smiled and hooked his pinky around mine, his voice low and magnetic. "Whoever backs out is a puppy."
...
After getting home, I flopped onto my back on the bed. So much had happened today.
My brother being beaten and hospitalized by William Westwood for some reason, Clara Langley’s miscarriage, Theodore Grant finding out I was pregnant... everything was tangled together, leaving me with a profound sense of exhaustion.
But the thing that worried me most was my brother...
Now that Mom and Dad were gone, my brother was my only blood relative left in this world.
I didn’t expect him to become rich and famous, but I did hope he would be safe and sound.
But as long as he was mixed up with Clara Langley, he would be the only one to suffer!
Whether it was William Westwood, Vincent Lombard, or even Theodore Grant, any one of them could crush him with their little finger.
But my brother hid everything from me while being utterly devoted to Clara Langley.
’It seems he won’t see Clara Langley’s true colors until he learns his lesson the hard way!’
Maybe it was because I was so exhausted, but with my mind racing with these thoughts, I drifted into a hazy sleep as I lay there.
I was jolted awake by the sound of the doorbell. My eyes shot open to complete darkness, and it took me a long moment to realize I was at home.
It was already dark outside.
I quickly got up to answer the door, but when I looked through the peephole, I saw that the person standing outside was Hailey Langley!
’What is she doing here?’
’Wait!’
’How does she know where I live?’
My brow furrowed. Thinking about what happened at the hospital today, I knew she must have come because of my pregnancy...
Meanwhile, the doorbell was still ringing.
Just as I decided to pretend no one was home, Hailey Langley suddenly started knocking.
"Chelsea, I know you’re home. Please open the door for Mom, okay?"
Hearing her use the word ’Mom’ made my skin crawl.
Now that Theodore Grant and I were divorced, I had no relationship with anyone in the Grant Family.
Hailey Langley calling herself ’Mom’ definitely made me uncomfortable.
"Chelsea, please open the door, won’t you? Chelsea..."
Seeing that she was prepared to keep at it until I opened the door, I took a deep breath.
I figured I couldn’t just keep avoiding the issue; it had to be dealt with. I was sick of talking to Theodore Grant, so out of everyone, Hailey Langley seemed like the best person to have this conversation with.
With that in mind, I opened the door.
Seeing me open the door, Hailey Langley’s face immediately broke into a smile. "I knew you’d open up..."
As she spoke, her gaze drifted down to my slightly rounded belly.
I turned to the side, avoiding her gaze. "Whatever you have to say, come in and say it."
After Hailey Langley came inside, she subconsciously looked around, though I wasn’t sure what she was looking for.
I turned, poured her a glass of water, placed it in front of her, and got straight to the point. "Was there something you needed from me today?"
Hailey Langley instinctively shifted closer to me. "Chelsea, don’t get the wrong idea. I didn’t come here to convince you to get back together with Theodore Grant. I just want to have a good talk with you."
"Talk about what?" I asked, my face expressionless.
Hailey Langley sighed. "Are you still angry with me because of what happened before?"
She reached for my hand as she spoke. "I just couldn’t bear to see you leave the Grant Family, that’s why I asked you to reconsider divorcing Theodore. It might have made you uncomfortable... but you should know, I’ve always thought of you as my own daughter..."
I pulled my hand away. "If my mother were still alive, she would have supported me..."
’Instead of only thinking about Theodore’s side and guilt-tripping me into not getting a divorce!’
’A mother-in-law is just a mother-in-law.’
’She could never be a real mother.’
Hailey Langley pressed her lips together, seemingly surprised by how impervious I’d suddenly become. She immediately stopped playing the sympathy card and got straight to the point. "Chelsea, I know you’ve always resented Theo for your mother’s death. But you have to blame the right person. Theo was manipulated by that bitch Clara Langley back then. The one who really caused your mother’s death was Clara Langley!"
"Believe me, I will make Clara Langley pay and get justice for you. So please, don’t be angry with Theo anymore, okay?"
"No matter what, the child in your belly is a descendant of our Grant Family. We’re the real family here."
