On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 129: I Hit Someone
"Well..." Sebastian Forrest frowned, lost in thought.
Seeing him about to give in, I became incredibly nervous, terrified he would agree.
But with my aunt right there, I couldn’t give him any obvious signals. All I could do was stare at Sebastian Forrest, my heart pounding so hard I thought it would leap out of my throat.
Sebastian Forrest glanced over at me, and as our eyes met, I quickly shot him a meaningful look.
The corners of his mouth curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile that vanished in an instant.
"I’m afraid that won’t be possible."
My aunt frowned, genuinely anxious now.
She must have thought it was a sure thing, which is why she decided to stay in Kington.
Now that Sasha’s job prospect had fallen through, how could she not be frantic?
"How about this, Mr. Forrest?" my aunt said, settling for the next best thing. "You have a wide network in Kington. You could at least help Sasha find a job, right?"
Sebastian Forrest nodded. "Of course, I can do that."
My aunt’s worry turned to joy. "Thank you, Mr. Forrest! We’re being such a bother..."
Before my aunt could finish her polite remarks, Sebastian Forrest cut in with a smile. "No need to thank me. I’m only doing this for Chelsea. If you want to thank someone, you should thank her."
My aunt laughed awkwardly. "We should thank both of you, of course. Well, you two keep chatting. I’ll just... go see if we’ve forgotten to pack anything..."
With that, my aunt turned and busied herself with various tasks.
"In such a hurry to move out... you’re not trying to avoid me, are you?" Sebastian Forrest leaned closer, his voice low and magnetic.
I quickly glanced around. Seeing that my aunt, Chloe Miller, and the others were busy packing in the rooms and no one was paying attention to us, I finally breathed a small sigh of relief.
"What? Did I guess right?" Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved into a smile.
"No..." Perhaps it was because he was standing so close when he spoke, but the faint scent of agarwood tickled my nose, making me take an uncomfortable step back. "It’s because a situation came up on my end, and I have to move out..."
Sebastian Forrest raised his eyes and glanced around the room. "Your aunt?"
I paused for a moment before nodding. "Yeah."
"That’s good. Making a clean break is one way to handle it."
I had to admire how sharp Sebastian Forrest was. He’d figured out my intentions so quickly.
"By the way, have you seen the trending topics on Weibo today?"
I shook my head. "No, why?"
Then a thought struck me, and I quickly pulled out my phone. "Is it about Clara Langley?"
As I spoke, I opened the Weibo app. The moment I logged in, my unread messages and new followers both showed 999+.
And the top trending topic was, sure enough—#ClaraLangley# (Exploding).
’Just her name alone made a topic explode?’
I quickly tapped on the trending topic and saw the top post was from a popular verified account with the hashtag #WhatTopicIsThisAndWhyDidItExplode?#, accompanied by the "confused Nick Young" meme.
The comments underneath were a chaotic mix.
But, to sum it up, no one really knew what had happened, yet everyone was acting as if they were in on some big secret.
"What’s going on?" I looked up at Sebastian Forrest, completely baffled by the whole situation.
"I had some people spread information about Clara Langley, including that DNA paternity test. Some of it is true, some of it is false. As for which is which, the netizens can make their own judgments," Sebastian Forrest said, the corners of his lips curling into a mischievous smirk.
I smiled, truly impressed by Sebastian Forrest’s methods.
That’s the thing about rumors—they have to be a mix of truth and lies. If it’s all true, it’s just news. If it’s all lies, no one cares. Only a blend of fact and fiction makes people want to dig for the real story.
That’s why some scandals, which seem patently false at first glance, still find people who believe them wholeheartedly and spread them with glee.
Sebastian Forrest leaned closer to my ear again, whispering in a voice only we could hear, "Also, I’ve already sent a copy of Clara Langley’s paternity test report to every company she has an endorsement deal with. Right now, her biggest headache is probably the astronomical contract termination fees..."
I couldn’t help but let a small smile grace my lips. Just as I was about to speak, I heard the sharp sound of a glass shattering on the floor—
I instinctively looked toward the sound and saw Sasha standing by the dining room’s wet bar. At her feet lay a glass, shattered into countless pieces.
"Oh, Sasha, are you okay?"
Hearing the commotion, my aunt rushed out, her face etched with concern. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
Sasha frowned. She glanced in my direction before saying, "I’m fine. My hand slipped, and I dropped it."
"It’s okay, don’t worry," my aunt soothed. "You go on back to your room. I’ll clean up the broken glass."
Sasha stood her ground, then suddenly looked at me and said, "Chelsea should be careful, too. She’s pregnant, after all. It would be terrible if she stepped on the glass and fell!"
She put heavy emphasis on the word "pregnant," as if afraid people wouldn’t hear it clearly.
I couldn’t help but laugh internally. ’She’s really just a child, wearing all her thoughts right on her face.’
’She’s reminding Sebastian Forrest that I’m pregnant.’
"Such a thoughtful child!" My aunt beamed, patting Sasha’s shoulder. "Don’t worry, I’ll clean it up right away. I won’t let Chelsea step on anything."
Sasha pursed her lips, glanced at Sebastian Forrest and me, then turned and went back to her room.
My aunt, uncle, and Chloe Miller were all busy helping us pack and move, but Sasha just hid in her room, playing on her phone...
’That girl is seriously spoiled.’
...
Soon, everything was packed up.
Maybe the truck I rented was too small, or maybe I’d just bought too much stuff recently, but a single truck wasn’t enough for everything.
Luckily, Chloe Miller and I both had cars, so we loaded some of the extra things into our own vehicles.
The only problem was that this left very little room for passengers.
My aunt and uncle got into Chloe Miller’s car, which meant Sasha would ride with me.
Originally, Sebastian Forrest had wanted to come along and help, but I politely declined his offer.
I don’t know if that was the reason, but when Sasha got in the car, her face was sullen. She didn’t say a word, and there wasn’t even a hint of a smile.
I didn’t really mind. I just turned on the music. When I glanced at Sasha in the rearview mirror, I noticed her expression seemed to have gotten even more sour.
’Such a childish temper.’
Just as I was thinking of saying something to break the awkward silence, a bicycle suddenly shot out into the intersection right in front of me!
It startled me, and I panicked, slamming my foot on the brake pedal.
There was a piercing screech of tires against the pavement, and then the bicycle toppled over onto the road!
The color drained from my face. ’Oh no, I hit someone!’
