On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 149: Baby, Call Me Husband
The words "Mrs. Forrest" made my heart skip a beat. For a hazy moment, it felt strangely surreal, as if from another lifetime.
I subconsciously looked up at Sebastian Forrest, only to find his gaze clinging to me, the kind that makes your face flush and your heart race.
"W-What is it?" His stare was making my face feel hot, and my heartbeat quickened along with it.
Sebastian Forrest’s lips curved into a smile. He then took out his phone, took a photo of the two marriage certificates in his hand with a SNAP, and then posted it to his social media with the location tagged.
I watched him from the side. The moment he posted it, the likes and comments blew up.
But Sebastian Forrest simply exited the app, tucked his phone into his pocket, and then wrapped an arm around me, leading me to the car. "Come on, your husband is taking you for a drive."
As Sebastian Forrest drove further and further away from the city, the wide-open view lifted my spirits.
"Where are we going?" I asked, full of curiosity.
"You’ll know when we get there." Sebastian Forrest’s dark, sparkling eyes were full of mystery.
A short while later, the car slowly pulled up outside an old manor that looked like a castle. Just standing outside the gate, it already felt like a paradise isolated from the world.
Sebastian Forrest pushed open the iron gate, and the first thing I saw was a manor full of flowers, so dense they practically carpeted the ground.
My jaw dropped and I covered my mouth, unable to believe my eyes.
It was late autumn, the weather had turned cold, and the trees were nearly bare.
And yet, the garden was a riot of color, with all kinds of flowers vying for attention. For a moment, it felt as if I were standing in a sea of blossoms.
"This... This is..."
Sebastian Forrest wrapped his arm around my waist and rested his forehead against mine. "I bought out every flower shop in Kington today. This is way better than ninety-nine roses, isn’t it?"
"You... You..." I was slow on the uptake, but I finally realized Sebastian Forrest was still feeling jealous about the roses Theodore Grant had given me before...
"You’re being so childish!"
I was at a complete loss for words.
’I always thought Sebastian Forrest was mature and composed, but now it seems—he’s no different from some seventeen or eighteen-year-old kid!’
"So what if I’m childish!"
Sebastian Forrest didn’t argue. Instead, he smiled as if it were the sweetest thing. "I’m happy, and that’s all that matters."
Seeing Sebastian Forrest laugh with the unrestrained joy of a child, I felt his mood infect me, and I started laughing with him.
Sebastian Forrest reached out and pulled me into his arms, gazing at the flowers carpeting the ground. "Actually, I’ve imagined more than once how I would propose to you one day..."
"It’s just that... this time was so much lamer than any of my fantasies..."
Sebastian Forrest gently nuzzled my nose with his. "Mrs. Forrest, you got a bad deal, agreeing to my sloppy proposal so easily!"
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I knew he had a wild and willful personality and wouldn’t spare anyone’s feelings when his temper flared, but I never thought he would even roast himself.
"You probably know, right? My parents had a wedding of the century that everyone envied. The streets of Kington were lined with long queues of people. In terms of sheer scale, no one has surpassed it in the last decade or so..."
Sebastian Forrest’s smile faded. "But you know what happened afterward. After that wedding, it was hard for them to even see each other. The times they were in the same place could be counted on one hand. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them strangers."
"So, for as long as I can remember, I’ve thought that I don’t want a lavish wedding like that. If I get married, I want to keep it simple, just inviting a few close friends and family. I’ll do whatever makes me happy..."
"Then let’s do it your way," I said, smiling as I wrapped my arms around his waist. "I don’t really want a complicated wedding either. It’s not just exhausting, but a wedding that’s too extravagant feels like it’s draining away our happiness."
Sebastian Forrest was taken aback. "You... you’re really okay with that?"
I smiled at him. "Why wouldn’t I be?"
Sebastian Forrest’s eyes were deep and dark, and his voice grew heavy. "Look at other girls. Their weddings are full of ceremony, with friends and family gathered together, happy and joyous, receiving everyone’s blessings... Don’t you want a wedding like that?"
"No."
’I had a wedding like that once.’
’It just... ended so miserably...’
"But I do," Sebastian Forrest’s voice softened, his gaze toward me becoming incredibly tender. "I wish I could let the whole world know that I married Chelsea Joyce, and have them all bless us!"
I smiled. "As long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters. Who cares if other people bless us or not? What if some malicious witch shows up and curses us!"
Sebastian Forrest suddenly laughed and said with a straight face, "You’re right. Mrs. Forrest is right!"
Then, he planted a light kiss on my forehead and said with great seriousness, "Then we’ll listen to Mrs. Forrest. We’ll plan our wedding however we want, whatever makes us happy and comfortable. And we’ll be on high alert for wicked witches to stop them from casting curses."
I let out a "PFFT" of laughter.
But when I met Sebastian Forrest’s sincere, fervent gaze, my palms began to sweat. Just as I was about to look down, he caught my chin and tilted it up. "Mrs. Forrest, welcome to our home."
I froze for a second. "Our... home?"
Sebastian Forrest nodded. "I just bought it last month. Let me show you around..."
"Okay."
...
The shockwave from Sebastian Forrest’s social media post finally reached me.
Chloe Miller, naturally, was the first to call.
"Chelsea, did you know? Master Forrest just went public with his ’one true love’ on his socials! He actually got his marriage certificate with her!" Chloe’s voice was so loud it made my ears ring.
I rubbed my ears and replied, "Yeah, I know."
But after I said that, Chloe suddenly went quiet on the other end.
I waited a moment, thinking it might be a bad signal. "Hello, Chloe? Hello..."
"HOLY CRAP! I’m such an idiot!" Chloe yelped. "Chelsea, aren’t you Master Forrest’s one true love? Then... does that mean the person he married is you?!"
"Yeah..."
"HOLY CRAP!" Chloe’s voice was so high it nearly cracked. "Chelsea Joyce, you pulled a fast one behind my back! A whirlwind marriage!"
I couldn’t help but feel torn between laughter and tears. But Chloe wasn’t wrong to use the term ’whirlwind marriage.’
’A confession and a marriage certificate on the same day. If that isn’t a whirlwind marriage, what is?’
"Where are you now? I’m coming to find you right away. I have to see this brand-new marriage certificate with my own eyes!"
"I’m at..." I was about to give her the address when I realized I didn’t know it. I quickly turned to Sebastian Forrest. "Senior Forrest, what’s the address here?"
"What did you just call me?" Sebastian Forrest asked, a half-smile on his face.
Only then did I realize I’d said it out of habit.
’But that’s what I’ve always called him...’
"Babe, let me hear you call me ’husband.’"
