On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 6: Truly Devilish
Chloe felt her heart skip a beat. She struggled to remain calm as she said, "I’m not so quiet when sleeping. If I ever bother, you can just wake me up."
Jasper walked up to her, with a devilish smirk playing on his impossibly handsome face. "How unquiet?"
Well..
"So unquiet that you could take advantage of me?"
Chloe stared directly at him for a moment. "I throw punches! If you mind, you can have the servants prepare another room for me."
"Oh." Jasper let out a low, bewitching chuckle. "Don’t worry. I can take a beating."
Chloe pressed her lips together without saying anything. She wasn’t easily flustered, but she could never seem to keep her composure around Jasper Lockwood.
’This man is ridiculously charming.’
"You go to sleep first. I still have some work to take care of," Jasper added.
Hearing this, Chloe inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. ’I have to fall asleep before Jasper finishes his work.’
’Otherwise, with that devilishly handsome man around, I might not be able to sleep at all.’
Jasper went to the study.
After her shower, Chloe was ready to go straight to sleep. She stared at the large bed, the one Jasper slept in every night, and hesitated for a long while before finally lying down.
The clean, uniquely masculine scent of him washed over her, and Chloe’s heart gave a strange flutter.
She closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep quickly. But sleep wouldn’t come.
An unknown amount of time passed before the door was suddenly pushed open. Jasper strode in on his long legs.
Chloe kept her eyes closed, remaining perfectly still as if she were fast asleep.
Jasper gazed at her stunning sleeping face, and his eyes grew more intense. He suddenly leaned down, drew close to her soft, pink lips. He had meant to kiss her passionately, but he froze when he saw her eyelashes flutter slightly. Instead, he just whispered, "Good night."
With that, he straightened up and left the room.
When she heard the door close, Chloe opened her eyes. The man’s cool, clean scent still lingered in the air, and her heart was still pounding.
’I find him so difficult to understand. I don’t believe he could fall in love with me after a single night. He clearly married me for the company shares, so what is all this about?’
It was going to be a sleepless night.
Jasper went to the guest room next door. He couldn’t sleep either and had to take a couple of cold showers before he finally calmed down.
The next morning...
A lack of sleep left them both looking a little tired. But it did nothing to diminish their stunning looks.
Henry stealthily sized up their expressions, telling himself, ’Could the Second Master and Madam have been at it all night?’
’Then again, that would be normal. The he has been holding back for so long, after all.’
At the dining table, Chloe was eating in a slow, deliberate manner.
Jasper suddenly spoke up. "Chloe, why don’t you go back to sleep for a while?"
Chloe’s chopsticks froze mid-air. After a two or three-second pause, she said, "It’s okay."
"You didn’t sleep well last night."
Chloe looked at his face. "You didn’t sleep well last night either, did you?"
Jasper chuckled lightly. "Then how about... we go and sleep together?"
"..."
After a moment of silence, a clever glint flashed in Chloe’s beautiful eyes. The corners of her lips curled into a smirk as she suddenly said, "Alright."
’He didn’t even stay in the same room with me last night. There’s no way Jasper would skip work to sleep with me in broad daylight.’
Now it was Jasper’s turn to be dumbfounded. After a few seconds, he started laughing again. "Then let’s go right after breakfast."
Listening to their conversation, Henry felt his suspicions were confirmed. ’They really were at it late into the night. But isn’t continuing in broad daylight a bit much?’
’The Master has an important meeting this morning!’
’Should I remind him?’
After breakfast, Chloe went upstairs first.
’That was just a joke.’ She hadn’t taken it to heart and planned to grab her things and head out.
Just as she stepped out of the room, Jasper walked over. They nearly collided, and she instinctively took a step back, her back pressing against the door.
The tall man leaned in with his thin lips parting slightly. "Weren’t we going to sleep together? Why did you come out?"
’This guy can’t be serious, can he?’
Jasper stared at her intently. Chloe, feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, cleared her throat. "I have some work to do. I don’t have time."
Jasper’s stunningly handsome face suddenly moved closer to hers as he spoke again. "Are you planning on going back on your word?"
Staring at the face mere inches from her own, certain images flashed unbidden through Chloe’s mind. Her face flushed. "Jasper, stop fooling around!"
Jasper chuckled softly. "Then come back early after you’re done."
Chloe replied without the slightest hesitation, "Okay."
She got up and started to leave, but Jasper showed no intention of moving out of her way. Although she was a skilled fighter, she was no match for him.
She’d been surprised when she first discovered it. How could a pampered, wealthy heir like him have endured the hardship required to master such fighting skills?
Jasper’s captivating eyes were fixed on her as he spoke with bewitching his voice. "Chloe, we’re married now. Don’t you think you should change how you address me? For instance... call me ’hubby.’"
"Even if you don’t call me ’hubby,’ calling me by my full name is a bit too formal, don’t you think?"
Chloe stared straight at him, silent.
She couldn’t bring herself to say the word ’hubby.’ And calling him just ’Jasper,’ without his last name, didn’t seem much better.
’It was too cringey.’
The two of them remained at a standstill.
The seconds ticked by. Ultimately, it was Chloe who broke the silence first. Unable to meet his gaze, which grew more and more intense, she turned her head slightly to look toward the staircase. "Alright, stop it. I have to go."
A flicker of something complex—resignation, perhaps—passed through the depths of Jasper’s dark eyes, which was quickly replaced by unshakable resolve. He raised a hand and his long fingers caressed her fair, delicate cheek as he murmured, "Since you’re not willing to do so, we’ll do it another way."
As soon as the words left his mouth, his long fingers tilted her chin up, and his lips descended on hers.
Chloe’s eyes flew open. She was completely caught off guard.
By the time she could react, Jasper had already pulled away.
Chloe’s cheeks were slightly flushed. Her lips parted, but no words came out.
She didn’t find his touch repulsive. In fact... she felt a slow current travel through her, a tingling sensation that made her heart flutter.
"You want to say anything?" Jasper asked seeing that she looked hesitant.
Chloe pushed him away and walked toward the elevator. She took a few steps, then suddenly stopped and looked back at him. "How many women have you hit on?"
’He’s such a smooth talker!’
Jasper was taken aback for a second, then he smiled. "Only you."
On the ground floor, the elevator doors opened, and Chloe walked out.
Seeing her here alone, Henry immediately asked, "Madam, where is the Master? Why is he not here with you?"
Chloe glanced at him but said nothing.
Henry wondered, ’Did I say something wrong?’
Just as he was in his thoughts, Chloe’s voice finally drifted over. "He should be down soon."
