One Night Stand With Alexander Blackwood-Chapter 114: Disappointed Thomas
"Here, Aunty." Serena handed Clara a cup of hot coffee, and the latter smiled at her.
"I’ll prepare a room for you and some necessities. You can’t go home now." Serena added, and Clara nodded in understanding.
Serena’s eyes flickered to Alexander who was standing close to the window while he stared at nothing. He had his hand on his chin, and it looked like he had fallen deep into thoughts.
She walked to him and placed a palm on his shoulder which startled him.
"Here." She said, handing him a glass of water. He gave her a soft smile as she received it.
Serena then asked, "what are you thinking about? I noticed you’ve been lost in thoughts for a while."
Alexander drank the water in one single gulp before handing it to her. He sighed as he answered, running a hand through his hair. "I’m just... confused."
Serena’s brows drew together. "What do you mean... confused?"
"There are a lot of things which are not what they seem to be." He replied.
"Are you referring to your mom?" She asked softly.
Alexander nodded, then let out a deep breath. "Now, it seems she isn’t really my mom."
Serran frowned as she looked at him. "What do you mean by that?"
Alexander was silent for a while as he held Serena’s gaze. She gave him an encouraging smile.
Alexander’s voice dropped lower as he answered. "I have my suspicions. But I don’t think I’m her son." He then explained to her all about his findings.
When he was done, Serena stood rooted in her position. Alexander’s gaze remained on her, and he chuckled seeing her expression.
"Why do you have such an expression on your face?" He asked, poking her head in the process.
"I’m surprised and at the same time... confused." She replied honestly.
Alexander nodded. "This is why I said not everything is as it seems to be." Although he had a nonchalant expression, Serena could tell that this revelation hurt him even if he tried to hide how he really felt.
"What do you plan to do?" She inquired quietly.
"I’ll find the truth." He answered with a shrug. "But, I won’t let her succeed with whatever she is planning. I have instructed my men to keep an eye on her. I’d be informed of any move she tries to make before she even tries to."
Serena listened to him silently before nodding heavily. "I just want this to be over." She murmured.
Alexander took her into his arms as he assured her, "the end is closer than you think. Just hold on for a while."
Serena exhaled. Although she didn’t say it, she was tired of the constant worries. She only hoped that everything would be sorted.
"I also have news." Alexander said, gaining her attention.
She raised her head to look at him. "And what is that?"
"Rhea really died in the accident. Her family held a quiet funeral for her without the buzz of the public."
Serena bit her lips as her attention remained on Alexander. Low-key, she felt it would have been better if Rhea was alive. Hearing about the confirmation of her death caused her to be shaken even when she tried not to.
"You don’t have to worry." He rubbed her hair calmly. "I’d always protect you."

Blackwood’s Mansion, Grace’s Private Room.
Grace was sprawled on her sofa, bottles of empty wine scattered around.
She was silent... only for a while before she burst out laughing..
"Thomas. Elias. Alexander." She called their names, laughing. "It won’t be long before I finally get rid of the three of you."
"My son is the rightful heir."
"But he isn’t Thomas’s son." A voice floated above her causing her to furrow her brows.
She sat up straight, her shoulders trembling and her chest heaving.
"So what? I’m the legal wife." She screamed in return.
"Sam is still not his son."
"Can I be blamed? It isn’t my fault!" She yelled, holding her head. "If he hadn’t constantly cheated on me with that dead bitch, would I have resorted to my actions?"
"There is no excuse for what you did. You and I know you were wrong."
"What could I have done?" Grace finally broke down as tears escaped from her eyes. "Thomas got that bitch pregnant. I got pregnant with another man’s child. Thomas wasn’t even there when I gave birth. I did what I could do to secure my son’s future."
She paused for a while, her eyes showing a crazed look. "Yes. I swapped the child. The child Thomas is taking care of is mine. Alexander is his child with that bitch. He only has one son, that is Alexander."
Suddenly, the door was kicked open revealing Thomas, causing Grace to snap out of her hallucination.
"What did you just say?"
"T-thomas?" She called out, fear, uncertainty and dread gripping her. She hurried to her feet as she rushed to him, stumbling a few times.
She was about to touch him when he moved back, his eyes revealing his disgust.
"Your dialogue? Don’t tell me that’s the truth." His eyes held anger but if one looked closer, they could see hope — hope that he was hallucinating things, that he was hearing things and not what he really heard.
Grace swallowed. She hesitated before shaking her head. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
But she had forgotten that she had been married to Thomas for about twenty years. Even if he didn’t have affection for her, he had studied her character. He knew when she was telling the truth and when she was lying.
Her moment of hesitation gave it away. She was lying.
He chuckled, then shook his head. "Grace." He called out softly. "How many years have we been married now?"
Grace didn’t understand what he was talking about but she still gave an honest reply. "Above twenty years."
Thomas nodded, then folded his arms. "Do you think I don’t know your habits? Your body languages? Or anything about you."
Grace blinked, still feeling confused. She didn’t understand what he was driving at, hence she didn’t answer.
Thomas shook his head before he walked out of the room, his back showing the disappointment he felt within.
Grace didn’t know what was wrong, but she had a bad feeling... a really bad feeling. She felt that everything she walked for was about to be ruined.
