One Piece: Alucard the Immortal-Chapter 492 - 491: True Ancestor and Divine Dragon
BOOM!!!
A violent gale erupted, cocooning Dragon’s body within a swirling vortex that obscured everything from sight.
This display was far more extravagant than Dragon’s earlier "shining debut" before the citizens. The wind had become as sharp as blades, manifesting as physical slashes that carved into the surroundings. The knights closest to Dragon found their bodies instantly shredded into mincemeat by the sheer pressure of the storm.
Neeeigh!
The warhorses of the Impaler’s Triumph sensed the overwhelming threat ahead. They reared up on their hind legs, refusing to advance another step.
The knight legion halted their offensive, taking up positions outside the perimeter of the cyclone to observe the heart of the storm.
Gurgle...
The pool of blood on the ground surged upward like licking flames, lifting Alucard’s body into the air. Simultaneously, the storm surrounding Dragon began to dissipate, slowly unveiling the form within.
The head of a crocodile, the antlers of a deer, long whiskers, eyes of a rabbit, ears of a bull, talons of an eagle, and the scales of a carp!
It was a colossal green body, adorned with a cross-shaped red tattoo on the left side of its face. It was, without a doubt, the form of a legendary Eastern Dragon. The tattoo on its cheek served as the final confirmation of its true identity.
"A Mythical Zoan... the Dragon-Dragon Fruit? Or are you another one of Vegapunk’s biological experiments?"
Alucard spoke with a casual air, yet his voice possessed a piercing quality that carried clearly into Dragon’s ears.
Government intelligence once indicated that during Dragon’s service in the Navy, he held a position as a security member for the Scientific Research Division. This meant it was highly probable he had dealings with Vegapunk. If his body had been modified, it wasn’t outside the realm of possibility.
Dragon offered no explanation. He wasn’t like Kizaru, who would offer flamboyant remarks such as: "I am a Light-Human who ate the Glint-Glint Fruit. Speed is weight; have you ever been kicked at the speed of light?"
The massive dragon body twisted, snapping its tail in a whip-like motion that sent dozens of knights from the Impaler’s legion flying in an instant.
Despite the formidable foe, the knights did not retreat. They adjusted their formation into disciplined ranks and snapped their reins. Their lances were leveled at an upward angle. When they were approximately ten meters from Dragon, they lashed their reins again, leaping into the air for a coordinated aerial thrust.
CRACK-BOOM!
Suddenly, thunderclaps erupted, lightning-cloaking Dragon’s massive frame as his body coiled and danced.
"Dragon’s Surge!"
Under Dragon’s control, the twin powers of wind and lightning easily dismantled the second wave of the legion’s attack. Legends say that wherever there are clouds, there is a dragon. The dragon is a divine beast that commands the wind, clouds, thunder, and lightning, and the scene unfolding now was a testament to that truth.
"Heh... hehehe..."
The tips of Alucard’s mustache twitched as he looked up at the Great Dragon dancing in the night sky. "It’s as if I’m a dragon-slaying knight from the old legends. Interesting... truly interesting. I’m glad I made this trip."
As he spoke, a bronze-colored spear slowly rose from the flame-like pool of shadow-blood beneath Alucard’s feet. "Then, let me admire the power of the legendary Zoan."
With a silent command, the Impaler’s Triumph retreated. Alucard vanished, reappearing instantly in front of Dragon as he hurled the Impaling Castle.
"Thunder..."
Dragon narrowed his eyes. His body coiled as his right dragon claw lunged forward.
"Dragon King!"
The Impaling Castle was dwarfed by the sheer size of the dragon’s claw. With a single strike, the spear was batted back toward the earth.
As the Impaling Castle fell into the flame-like pool of blood, Dragon did not let the opportunity slip. He pressed the attack, his twin claws coated in Armament Haki and crackling with arcs of purple lightning.
"Thunderous Dragon King!"
A blur of green and purple light tore through Alucard’s body. Bolts of lightning surged into his frame, ravaging his internal organs.
"It’s not over!!"
Dragon, who usually presented a calm and stoic demeanor to his subordinates, let out a thunderous roar. His front claws were primed: the left held purple lightning, while the right gripped emerald winds. With wind and thunder, two potent natural energies, in his grasp, he proved himself to be the legendary beast that controlled the heavens.
By now, very few survivors remained in the devastated streets. Cavendish was one of the lucky few.
He had finally managed to rescue his beloved horse, Farul, from the tavern’s stables. Just as he was preparing to flee toward the coast, he spotted the massive green dragon dancing in the sky, wielding lightning in its left hand and wind in its right.
The beast looked absolutely murderous. Even without words, Cavendish could guess what the monster intended to do next.
"Why is it always misfortune lately?!"
Cavendish let out a grief-stricken cry, spurred Farul, and raced away from this godforsaken place. But a question lingered in his mind: Who was Dragon fighting?
Could it be that little girl? Impossible, right? He had never seen a face like that on a bounty poster.
...
Alucard remained pinned to the ground where Dragon’s previous strike had driven him. Having concentrated his twin energies, Dragon thrust both claws downward.
"Dragon’s Soaring Impact!"
The green and purple energies intertwined, spiraling down toward the earth. They detonated in a massive hemispherical explosion. The ground groaned and shivered. Seconds later, amidst the deafening roar, a colossal mushroom cloud slowly billowed into the air.
Even far away, Farul stumbled under the force of the aftershocks, nearly tossing Cavendish from his saddle. The fact that they felt the impact from such a distance was proof of the terrifying power behind Dragon’s technique.
Cavendish bit his lower lip, thinking to himself: So this is the strength of the World’s Most Heinous Criminal.
If that’s the case, his opponent must be...
Cavendish felt that under such overwhelming power, no matter who the opponent was, they couldn’t possibly have survived that strike.
As the mushroom cloud rose, Dragon took a moment to catch his breath. He stared down for several seconds before muttering to himself: "Alucard the Immortal won’t be defeated that easily. It’s best to retreat now. Sabo has already secured the escape route..."
With that thought, Dragon prepared to depart and regroup with the retreating Revolutionary Army. But as he flew into the cloud layer, intending to slip away, he suddenly realized the environment within the clouds had turned eerily strange.
Whoosh!
Dragon saw nothing, but his senses screamed. He felt something hidden within the dark, swirling mists surrounding him.
"Now, let me witness the power of the True Ancestor’s Familiar, Jormungandr."
Alucard’s voice drifted up from the blood pool on the ground, reaching the clouds. Instantly, the cloud layer surged violently as a monster revealed its true face.
