Chapter 134 - Scatter with the Thunder!

Thunder God Island stood in the vast Eastern Sea.

The Marine warship danced on the waves, rocking back and forth.

"Can you feel it, Zephyr?" Tsuru asked, her voice laced with concern.

"Yes," Zephyr replied, his gaze fixed on the distant island.

They stood side-by-side on the ship's deck, silently sensing the powerful battle raging on Thunder God Island. The energy felt familiar, yet also strange. One thing was clear: their enemy possessed incredible Haki!

This was a fight beyond what Roya and the others should be able to handle. Yet, the young Marines were showing amazing courage.

"They've all grown so much!" Zephyr said, filled with pride.

Whether it was Roya, Smoker, or Hina, their Haki hadn't weakened during the battle. It was growing stronger, burning brighter. He could clearly feel their intense desire to win. Even Zephyr was moved.

Tsuru's worry deepened. "Should we help them?"

Zephyr shook his head. "Let's wait a little longer."

When they last spoke, Roya had asked him not to interfere. Keeping Doflamingo occupied was the best help he could offer.

That kid has some bad habits, but he knows his own strengths and uses his surroundings well. If he's really in danger, he won't be reckless. That was Zephyr's belief.

But still... the situation was grim. Haki revealed one's will. By sensing someone's Haki, you could understand their mental state. Zephyr felt that Roya and the others were completely on the defensive. This foe was too powerful.

Why are they fighting so desperately? Even Smoker and Hina were pushing themselves to the limit. If they retreated, they could escape!

"Roya, Smoker, Hina..." Zephyr whispered, closing his eyes, silently calling out to his students.

People don't change in comfort. We veterans became strong by surviving life-or-death situations.

"Get through this," he thought, "and the future will be yours!"

----

At the heart of the battlefield on Thunder God Island, Roya, Smoker, and Hina lay broken on the ground, covered in blood. They could barely crawl. Only an invisible barrier was keeping them alive.

Vergo, his entire body infused with Haki, was a towering force. His power and defense were unmatched. He had completely overwhelmed them.

He was impenetrable!

Barto stood before his fallen comrades, fingers crossed, desperately maintaining a bowl-shaped barrier. He looked at the approaching Vergo, a monster of a man, and was terrified.

"Roya Boss, please get up!" he cried. "Vergo's coming!"

The barrier was invincible, yes, but Barto couldn't defeat the enemy. His power was defense, not attack. Becoming a Marine had taught him his ability's weaknesses. It was only good against fools.

This enemy was no fool.

"Barto, give... me some time," Roya managed, rolling onto his back, gasping for air. He tried to reassure his panicking friend. "Don't be afraid. You're our trump card!"

"Trump card?!" Barto's eyes widened. He felt a surge of confidence. That's right! The barrier is invincible! Even that monster can't hurt us inside!

He glared at Vergo and grinned. "Hehehe! With me, the super trump card, you won't kill Roya Boss!"

"..."

Vergo's face was smeared with blood. He was breathing heavily. This fight had drained him, too. He had taken significant injuries. These young devils were tougher than he'd expected.

Especially Roya. He had mastered Penetrative Haki. Every blow hurt. Seventy percent of Vergo's injuries came from Roya's attacks.

Despite Roya's Haki and newly-acquired Penetrative Haki, he still couldn't win. Vergo's Haki was stronger, his mastery greater.

That terrified him. Roya was growing too fast. If he failed to kill him now, the next time they met, Roya might surpass him!

He stared at the shimmering barrier, gripped his bamboo stick, and pulled it back to gather power.

Barto's eyes went wide!

"Oh no! That move!" Roya Boss and the others had been blasted away by that just moments ago!

"Demon Bamboo!"

The bamboo stick slammed into the barrier!

"BOOM!!!"

A powerful shockwave spread outwards.

When the dust settled, the barrier was undamaged. The four inside were unharmed.

Barto sighed in relief, then laughed. "Hehehe! Useless! Useless! My barrier is invincible!"

"..."

Vergo frowned.

What's going on? He had used flowing Haki, but the barrier hadn't broken. The attack hadn't even passed through to hurt those inside.

Barto puffed out his chest. He didn't truly understand his barrier, but nothing had broken through it yet.

Roya Boss thought it wasn't just a simple defense. It was an ability to isolate attacks.

"Glug, glug, glug..."

The sound of someone drinking came from behind him.

Roya had gotten to his feet and was chugging a can of nutrient fluid to replenish his strength. It wouldn't help much, but it was better than nothing.

"Barto, open a door for me!"

"Huh?" Barto was stunned. He looked at the three standing behind him and gulped. Are these guys immortal?!

"But..."

"It's okay. We can't win hiding in here." Roya stared intently at Vergo.

Barto's barrier had a fatal weakness: the ground! Vergo would realize that eventually. He could destroy the earth.

Even if they turned the barrier into a ball, it would be a turtle shell. They were recovering their strength, but so was Vergo.

Barto had bought them some time, and that was crucial. Now came the real fight.

"Barto, defense is up to you!"

"But Roya Boss, I can't even see that guy!" Barto said, panicked. He had tried to attack Vergo, but his eyes couldn't keep up. Even if Vergo stopped moving, he could use Observation Haki to predict and avoid his barrier attacks.

"Believe in yourself!" Roya said, taking a deep breath. "We've fought hard. Vergo is tired, too. He's much slower now. Watch him closely! Your barrier will stop him. You're our trump card!"

"Trump card! I'm the trump card!" Smoke poured from Barto's nostrils. He separated his fingers, and the barrier opened on both sides. "Go, Roya Boss!"

Roya looked at Smoker and Hina. "Smoker, Hina, can you do what I asked?"

"Of course we can! Who do you think we are?" Smoker replied, gasping for breath.

Their bodies were battered, making it hard to stand, let alone fight Vergo. But supporting from the rear was no problem.

"Let's go!" Roya said. "This is the final battle! Kill Vergo!"

He stepped out of the barrier and faced Vergo.

"Hiding behind that Mohawk's ability might let you live," Vergo said calmly.

"Too bad," Roya replied. "I didn't come here to survive. I came to kill you."

He took a deep breath, focusing his will throughout his body - limbs, heart, lungs, muscles, blood. He pushed every organ to its limit.

"Life Return - Martial Burning Body!" He squeezed out every last bit of power.

"Moon Walk!"

Roya flew into the air and roared at Vergo below.

"Vergo!"

"Have you lost your mind?" Vergo scoffed. "Fighting me in the air? My Six Styles are better than yours."

Vergo used Moon Walk to instantly catch up.

"Clang!"

The bamboo stick and Rain Cutter clashed!

Before Roya could move, Vergo dropped the stick and punched him in the chest!

"Puh!"

Roya's back arched, and blood spurted from his mouth.

"My close combat, my Haki, my Six Styles - I'm better than you in everything!" Vergo roared.

He reappeared in front of Roya and kicked him in the chin, sending him flying upwards. Using Moon Walk, he quickly caught up, hovered above him, and brought his hands down on Roya's head!

"You little brat!"

"Boom!"

Roya plummeted towards the ground.

Completely defenseless.

"It's over, you brat!" Vergo shouted.

He became a blur, grabbed his bamboo stick, and sped after Roya, placing the weapon behind him with both hands!

The Haki-infused Demon Bamboo was aimed with full force at the falling Roya!

"Boom!!!"

A huge shockwave exploded in the air!

"Hmm?" Vergo stared at the barrier blocking his attack and the battered Roya resting on top of it. His forehead veins bulged.

"Escaping with your subordinate's power? You're just delaying the inevitable. Nothing will change."

"Cough, cough. Not necessarily!" Roya said, propping himself up. Blood dripped onto the barrier, but he smiled. "Look around, Vergo."

"Around?" Vergo looked around.

Dense smoke filled the air. He could barely see anything. It was Smoker's doing.

"What can mere smoke do?"

"Cough, cough, cough. The smoke itself can't hurt you, but the things inside it are deadly. You don't have the energy to use Observation Haki anymore, do you?" Roya grinned.

"Zzzt, zzzt..."

The sound of electricity crackled in the air, growing louder, like a thousand birds chirping. Long streaks of lightning flashed through the smoke, gradually forming a giant ball that engulfed them both.

"Thunder Cage Formation!"

On the ground, Hina knelt, one hand pointing towards the sky. The Black Gun hidden in the smoke was her masterpiece.

"There's nowhere to run!"

Roya sat on the barrier, his trembling hand pulling a cigarette from his pocket. He lit it and took a slow puff.

The Thunder Cage Formation had reached its peak.

"Vergo," he said, "your close combat, your Haki, your Six Styles - they're all better than mine. But I'm definitely stronger than you in one thing!"

"Vitality!"

Vergo lost his composure. He stepped on Moon Walk and tried to escape, but it was too late. The thunder had completely surrounded them.

Roya smirked.

"Scatter with the thunder!"

"Boom!!!"

A blinding light erupted above Thunder God Island!

Amidst the lightning, a faint voice seemed to echo:

"The World!"
