One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 149: Wano Country
Chapter 149 - Wano Country
The sun was barely up when Roya stepped onto the deck.
Lu Yun was already there, waiting. "Sir, the Spade Pirates sailed last night. They're headed for Wano Country."
"Wano Country," Roya repeated, a sigh escaping his lips.
That kid is nothing but trouble.
The Log Pose offered safer routes, ways to avoid the dangers of Wano Country completely, even from Winter Bear Island.
Does he need to get beaten half to death before he learns his lesson?
Roya remembered Ace had been to Wano Country before joining Whitebeard, even fought Kaido's daughter, Yamato.
An idea sparked in his mind.
"Where's Kaido?" he asked.
"Intelligence says Kaido took a large force on an expedition. His Wano Country base should be lightly defended."
"Good. We're heading to Wano Country!"
"Yes, sir!"
Roya walked to the edge of the deck, gazing at the endless sea, plotting his next move.
When Barto came back yesterday, something felt off. The Beasts Pirates wouldn't send just a few weaklings as reinforcements.
That meant the information was right: Kaido was away, and he'd taken his best fighters with him, leaving Onigashima vulnerable.
This was a golden opportunity.
"Guess I'm riding Ace's luck this time," Roya chuckled, shaking his head.
Maybe fate was on their side. Otherwise, Ace, at his current level, would be walking straight into a disaster if he attacked Onigashima.
He'd end up in the prisoner quarry, studying hard...or worse.
If he was lucky, Luffy might come to his rescue. If he was unlucky, he might just die. The Beasts Pirates didn't let anyone go.

Days passed quickly.
The weather around their warship changed dramatically. The currents grew wild, and a storm seemed to be brewing.
They were getting close to Wano Country.
Soon, towering, pillar-like mountains appeared on the horizon.

The warship docked near one of these massive pillars.
"You all wait here. I'll go alone," Roya ordered, using Moon Walk to fly toward Wano Country.
Even with Kaido gone, they couldn't be reckless. The waterfalls leading to the island were heavily guarded, and a warship would attract unwanted attention.
The worst-case scenario? Kaido and King returning overnight.
Kaido and King could both fly, after all!
---
Wano Country, Kuri Coast.
"Phew, finally made it!"
The Spade Pirates looked relieved. They never thought they'd rely on koi fish to pull their ship up a waterfall.
Every day in the New World was a gamble.
Ace adjusted his hat, his smile bright.
He'd fully recovered, stronger than before. He would only get stronger.
"Let's go find Kaido!"
"Yeah!" the crew cheered.
They marched along a path and soon came to a run-down village where a little girl was cutting grass by the river.
Seeing Ace and his crew, the girl looked startled. "Who are you? What are you doing in Amigasa Village?"
"Don't worry, we won't hurt you."
Ace crouched down, looked the little girl in the eyes, and introduced himself with a friendly smile. "I'm Ace. I'm a pirate!"
"Ace?"
The girl looked at Ace's sunny smile, and her fear began to fade. She whispered, "My name is Tama. What are you here for?"
"We're here to defeat Kaido!" Ace declared, shocking Tama.
To the people of Wano Country, Kaido's name was a terrifying taboo, second only to General Orochi.
Seeing Tama's fearful reaction, Ace quickly asked, "Tama, do you know where Kaido is?"
"I do."
Tama bit her lip, fighting back her fear. "You should come to my village first. It's dangerous if Orochi's men see you."
"Orochi?" Ace asked, confused.
Suddenly, ragged villagers rushed out, armed with hoes and wooden sticks, surrounding the Spade Pirates.
"Food! Give us food! We're starving!"
"Don't make us kill you!"
The villagers looked terrified, but they tried to look fierce. Their trembling bodies gave them away.
The crew gathered around Ace, anger in their eyes.
"Ace."
"Don't do anything," Ace said, shaking his head slightly, looking at the villagers, especially their gaunt bodies and patched clothes.
A moment later, Ace and his crew were tied up, and the villagers were devouring the food from their ship.
They hadn't tasted such good food in a long time. Tears streamed down their faces as they bit into the meat.
Once everyone had eaten, flames erupted on Ace's body, burning through his ropes.
The others pulled out daggers or used their strength to break free.
"How is this..."
Seeing the pirates free, the villagers didn't even try to resist. They were starving and getting a full meal before they died was enough for them.
But Ace didn't blame them. He smiled, and his crewmates smiled helplessly.
"Are you full?"
"..."
The villagers were stunned.
These pirates were different from the Beasts Pirates.
---
Meanwhile, in the Hakumai area.
On the road to Ebisu Town, Roya was grabbing a ronin by the neck, several others lying at his feet.
"There are too many bandits," Roya muttered, his face dark.
In less than half an hour, he'd been ambushed by three groups of ronin samurai. The lawlessness was terrible.
He just wanted to find someone who knew where Onigashima was. Wandering around alone would take too long.
But these short-sighted robbers didn't know where Onigashima was.
After walking a while, he saw a run-down village.
"Ebisu Town?"
Looking at the crooked sign at the entrance, Roya vaguely remembered the name.
The residents of the dilapidated street were all skinny, wearing patched clothes, and looked poor and hungry.
Roya understood why he kept getting attacked by bandits.
His clothes were too nice.
If he were as skinny as the villagers, wearing rough, patched clothes, even stray dogs would turn up their noses.
Too bony to eat!
Roya had seen scenes like this before. Countries suffering from constant looting were always in this state.
Even some member states couldn't escape poverty, and many people starved to death every year.
And it was all caused by humans.
Roya looked around. The villagers were secretly watching him, their eyes filled with fear, but also hope.
"Ding!"
Roya smiled and held up a gold coin.
The villagers' eyes lit up.
