One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 212: Searching for Uta
Chapter 212 - Searching for Uta
Baratie, the floating Sea Restaurant, buzzed with activity.
All eyes turned to a man in a fancy suit, admiration sparkling in their gazes.
"Wow, look! It's Lieutenant Colonel Fullbody!" someone whispered.
"No way! A big shot from Headquarters?"
"What's someone like him doing in the East Blue?"
"So elegant," a woman sighed dreamily.
Fullbody, the center of attention, sat with a beautiful woman in a daring dress. He held his wine glass, gently touching it to hers.
The woman soaked in the envious looks, a sweet smile gracing her lips. "You're amazing, you know? Everyone's watching you."
"Nonsense, my dear. They're simply captivated by your beauty," Fullbody purred, taking a delicate sip. His eyes widened, and he raised a finger, trying to appear sophisticated.
"Delicious... This subtle fragrance, the scent of Jimio Earth from the north, a hint of sourness mixed with a rich spice... This wine has to be...Duboska!"
Having delivered his expert opinion, Fullbody turned to Sanji, who was carrying a steaming plate.
"Waiter, am I right?"
"Dead wrong, buddy," Sanji retorted, his tone dripping with sarcasm. He shattered Fullbody's pretense as he slammed the soup onto the table.
"And I'm not a waiter. I'm the sous chef here. Our waiters all bailed a few days ago." Sanji continued, "Here's your main course. Enjoy."
With a flourish, Sanji walked away.
"Pfft--" Several guests choked back laughter.
Fullbody's face burned. He felt like he was losing face fast. How dare they switch my wine! I specifically ordered the Duboska!
The beautiful woman swirled the wine in her glass.
"Are you really a wine expert?" she asked, a hint of doubt in her voice.
"Yes, of course! It's just...my tastebuds are a little off today," Fullbody stammered, forcing a sheepish smile. He mentally plotted his revenge on the "waiter" who dared to embarrass him.
Suddenly, the restaurant door burst open.
The loud bang made Fullbody whirl around. He froze, then shot to his feet.
His whole demeanor changed. The leisurely elegance vanished, replaced by the sharp, intense presence of a soldier.
The beautiful woman gasped, startled.
"What's wrong?"
"Sorry, darling, something important came up," Fullbody said, abandoning his pursuit of the woman. He rushed toward the newcomers, followed closely by Jango, who had been sitting at the next table.
Together, they snapped to attention in front of the newcomers, offering crisp salutes.
"Vice Admiral Roya!" they shouted in unison.
Vice Admiral?
The restaurant fell silent. Everyone stared at Roya, shocked and speechless.
Could it be... a Headquarters Vice Admiral? someone wondered.
That's a SUPER important person!
"Fullbody? Jango?" Roya asked, looking surprised.
"What are you two doing in the East Blue?"
"Reporting, Vice Admiral Roya, we're on vacation, sir!" they replied quickly.
"Vacation, huh?" Roya nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Relax, guys. Don't be so formal. We're comrades. Just treat me like a friend. Let's sit down and talk."
"Yes, sir!" Fullbody scrambled to find an empty table, completely forgetting about his date.
"Vice Admiral Roya, the thing is..." Fullbody explained.
The World Conference was in session, and the G-5 Branch had been assigned to escort royalty. However, they didn't need all their warships. Plus, the Marines in the G-5 Branch... well, they weren't known for their professional conduct.
So, Smoker, their superior, had given them leave.
He and Jango had come back to the East Blue, planning to enjoy their time off before returning to the G-5 Branch after the World Conference.
"I see," Roya said, nodding understandingly.
Fullbody lowered his head, relieved that he hadn't caused any trouble earlier. That would have been utterly humiliating with the Vice Admiral watching.
"Vice Admiral Roya, what brings you here?"
"To eat, what else?" Roya replied with a grin.
"Ah, right," Fullbody stammered, feeling foolish. He quickly raised his hand to call for service.
"Waiter! Uh..." Fullbody trailed off, stunned. The black-clad "waiter" was now sitting in his seat, charming his date!
That little creep! This is too much!
With Roya present, Fullbody managed to control his anger, but his eyes narrowed with fury.
Luckily, another member of the restaurant staff appeared.
"Sanji, you idiot! The customer's calling for you!"
"Hey, I'm not a waiter!" Sanji protested, but he quickly made his way to the table.
His surly expression vanished the instant he saw Yamato. His attitude did a complete 180.
"Beautiful lady, what can I get for you?" he cooed.
"Me? Everything!" Yamato exclaimed, grabbing her knife and fork eagerly.
Roya's cooking wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exactly gourmet. It was barely enough to satisfy her massive appetite.
I want a feast! she thought.
"Coming right up! I'll prepare it myself!" Sanji said, hurrying to the kitchen.
Roya watched him go.
I'm not particularly interested in Sanji. Even if he becomes strong later, that's in the future. I don't have time to train a womanizer.
Roya turned his attention back to Fullbody and Jango, still curious. "Are you telling me the only reason you traveled all the way to the East Blue was for a vacation?"
The East Blue was peaceful, but it wasn't exactly a hotbed of entertainment. If they wanted excitement, the New World or the Grand Line would have been better choices.
"Vice Admiral Roya, we can't hide anything from you," Fullbody said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Actually, we came to the East Blue to find Uta!"
"Uta?" Roya repeated, pausing.
He knew they were huge fans of Uta. Back at the 153rd Branch, they had been Uta's most devoted followers.
Moreover, they loved to dance and were deeply involved in the Uta fan community. Their passion for Uta was unmatched.
In their eyes, Uta was a goddess of entertainment.
Roya was intrigued.
"Uta is in the East Blue?"
"Well, we don't know for sure," Fullbody admitted, shaking his head. "But recently, during one of Uta's online concerts, she mentioned some interesting stories about the East Blue. So, everyone thinks Uta might be from here."
"Hmm," Roya murmured, nodding thoughtfully.
Uta had become a global sensation long ago, but she had never made a public appearance. She always performed and held concerts through Den Den Mushi broadcasts.
Besides her mesmerizing voice, all fans knew about Uta was her name, spelled out in three simple letters: Uta.
If I remember correctly, Uta lives in the ruins of a country known for its music... But I can't remember the name...
Yamato tugged on Roya's sleeve.
"Roya, I love Uta too!"
"Yeah, I know," Roya said, smiling.
Uta's singing could easily stir people's emotions. A simple soul like Yamato was easily captivated by Uta's voice.
In fact, I like her a lot, too, he thought.
Back at the 153rd Branch, I even dreamed of starting the ultimate trend band with Fullbody, Jango, and Uta.
Come to think of it, Shanks abandoned Uta after leaving Windmill Village, so she might actually be in the East Blue.
"Yamato, let's go find Uta!"
"Okay, okay!" Yamato cheered.
Time to show off my awesome dance moves!
The Strongest Band Plan, commence!
